I wanna know where they got their reliable information! They said it WILL be. Of the two, I want Star Flyer! Much nicer looking, I like the design better, and the night view is awesome.

World's Best Kids' Area to Get a Whole New Look in 2010!
Kat replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
I personally hold the opinion that kiddie land is gonna be ruined after this... I'm going to miss SpongeBob I think they should have just kept it Nick U. I grew up when it was HannaBarbera Land and it was pretty cool, but now, it's really awesome. I think Nick U is the best it's ever been, and I really don't see how they can keep all the rides they have and make it based off of just ONE show. With Nick, they had dozens of shows they could theme rides after. I personally don't see how this is a 'good financial investment'... wouldn't it be cheaper just to pay Viacom what they want for the licensing rather than have to pay a large sum of money to completely re-do the area?? Some rides can't be transformed as simply as just painting them... rides like Avatar, Plankton's Plunge, Blue's Skidoo... Those will require A LOT of work to re-do them. They'll all require new trains/cars.. I like snoopy, but I don't see how this is gonna work... Good thing I don't have kids, so I don't have to break their hearts and tell them SpongeBob, Dora, Diego, and all their other Nick favorites will no longer be around after this year. -
coulda been Beast... it's had some issues lately, not sure what, but it's been shut down a few times, but I don't think for long - like, not even a day. *shrug*

You can choose not to believe me if you want to, but I can't reveal anything, b/c - as a former employee - I know for a fact that if you disclose private information to the public - even one person - it will cost you your job if they find out. The stuff I know, I honestly shouldn't know, since I'm not employed by KI or CFA. If I revealed what I know - as well as my sources - I'd probably cost everyone in a certain high up divsion their job. I also know as a former park employee that they do reveal stuff to employees that they don't to the public, or at least don't for quite awhile.

Is Kings Island really strict on height requirements?
Kat replied to coaster queen's topic in Kings Island
because the intensity of DBack lifts your butt out of your seat some, and you slide a lot. Lap bars only click down so far. I'm 5'3" and 110 and I LOVE DBack, but it really lifts me out of my seat. It's for safety, b/c someone too little could fall out or slide out. -

I saw a lady standing there arguing with a DBack ride op b/c her kid was too short. She refused to believe that her kid was really too short (she was BARELY too short, but was too short) and she wouldn't listen to the ride op, so then they called out a manager, and the lady started arguing with the manager. She finally gave it up, and walked off, really annoyed. -

they're pretty strict. I've seen many kids that were 1/2" short or less get turned down for Diamondback. If they can't tell from the height stick they'll put em on the height scale and measure em. If they do that, the bar has to stop on the side of the kid's head. If it brushes over the top - even barely - they won't let them on the ride. -
They went to Firehawk after FoF (as did I) and I was SOOO tempted to say "I told you it went upside down" to them lol.

most valuble thing you ever lost at kings island and on what ride
Kat replied to israel09's topic in Kings Island
I'll probably get laughed at this BUT my spongebob souvenir cup... lol Yeah I know nothin valuable... I left it in the ride bin for Delirium and by the time I realized it, I figured someone would've turned it in already, so I just checked L & F at the end of the night, and no one had turned it in. Fortunately one of the gift shops on I-Street sells em still, just with a darker lid and without the Paramount Parks on the label. lol I know it's silly, but I loved that cup sooo much cuz it's blue (fav color) and spongebob lol -
"this ride doesn't go upside down, it's an indoor coaster!!" (about FoF, which DOES go upside down, at least 2x)

Actually, there are many things employees know that aren't disclosed to the public. (no I'm not an employee but I have connections and sources). That's all I'm saying as more would be putting jobs at risk.

I've heard many times that Nick is gone after this year, and I honestly believe it since all of the nick stuff is 50% off this year. They're trying to get rid of it. Not sure why they're doing this, other than "to save money" but honestly - wouldn't it just be cheaper to pay for the licensing for Nick than to re-theme the entire kiddie land AGAIN??
-
I completely agree. I liked it when it was Tomb Raider, and yes I know they had to ditch the paramount theme, but the ride is lame now. I went on it last year, and it was so boring. they ripped out everything inside. I say tear it down and put in a new roller coaster or something there.
-
LOL I only went two or three times last year... and since I'm usually always broke I don't have money for souveniers so I ignore the shops If I go to the souvenier shops I always find stuff I want that I can't afford, which makes me sad And this is only my third visit this year, and the first time walking past that shop. So now my question is why does a Cedar Fair park have a model of a roller coaster that's at a Busch Gardens park??? hahaha. Also, who made the model of Diamondback, and where is it now?
-
In the window of the Thrill Seekers gift shop (location 20 on the park map), there is a non-working model of a rollercoaster. My brother, friend, and I spent a good deal of time last night staring at this model trying to figure out what KI roller coaster it was. The conclusion? It's not currently a KI roller coaster. It looks similar to Firehawk, but it's not. It's definitely not Vortex, Invertigo, or Diamondback. As I said, it's not any of the rides at KI. I'm wondering if it's a sign of times to come.... I should have taken a picture of it, I wish I had... but I didn't... Next week when I go up there I'll take a picture of it. It looks like a really fun roller coaster. I don't know if it's something CF plans to build at KI in the future and has not yet publically stated, or if it's a roller coaster at one of the other CF parks. Has anyone seen this? If so do you know what it is?

7 rides in 3 visits so far... 3x on May 16th, 1x on June 12th, 3x on June 15th.

My brother (not sure what his name on here is) and I went to KI on May 2nd, my first trip for the season. We went on Delirium, then Invertigo, then I decided it was time to stop being a chicken and go face Diamondback. I LOVE roller coasters but am not a fan of heights, and have a fear of free-falling... these things stop most people from going on any roller coaster but not me! I love em, and am not about to let my silly fears stop me from having fun! I was scared of Diamondback since I first saw the model, video, and photos of what it'd look like... yet I wanted to ride it. As we approached Diamondback, I freaked out more because from a distance it looks like you go STRAIGHT up, not up at a steep angle. I was like oh my gosh I'm gonna die I'm so scared! For whatever reason, I guess to make things go faster, they have a separate "single riders" line, and even though I was with my brother, they sent us both in the single riders line. When you get up there, they pair single riders up with odd number groups, so my brother and I went on the same train, different seats. I wasn't sure what to think of this cuz I wanted to ride next to him to feel "safer" but it was fun anyways, and we got to compare experiences. I was in the 2nd last row. As soon as I saw the seat harness I freaked out more how could that lap bar possibly be safe and secure for such a crazy ride?? I got on anyways though knowing the ride wouldn't be running if it wasn't safe. We started going up the hill and I was freaking out thinking why am I doing this oh gosh what was I thinking oh my gosh I'm terrified!! We got to the top of the hill and I prepared myself for the drop of my lifetime!! Halfway through the ride I was screaming WHEE!!! hahaha. The ride came to a stop and I'm thinking OH MY GOSH THAT WAS SO AWESOME OH MAN THAT WAS INCREDIBLE WOW THAT WAS SOOO MUCH FUN I GOTTA DO THAT AGAIN!! I rode Diamondback 2 more times that night, and can't wait to go back and ride it again. Fantastic ride, absolutely thrilling, and very smooth!! After our first ride on DB we rode Backlot Stunt Coaster, then shake rattle and roll, Vortex, spongebob, zephyr, bumper cars, scrambler and then took a break for dinner (out at the car cuz I'm broke... haha) then back into the park, went on DB again, then went on The Beast, back over to DB one last time and finally Flight of Fear. Diamondback had a short line every time we rode, even when we went in the "group" line. We didn't wait more than 10 mins each time!
