Is it clear from what I heard on Fox19 that the Son of Beast will be closed "indefinitely"? It was on earlier today on a commercial I watched. Is this the same "indefinitely" that caused the Drop Zone to close "until further notice"? Please, can someone clarify 'WHAT'S GOING ON?'.

If I am correct...back in 2005 PKISecurityRules, It was MANDATORY that all guests wear a shirt in the Theme Park unless in boomerang bay. Even at AmazonFalls and WhiteWaterCanyon, you'd see riders wringing out shirts AND pants(YES...OFF) of course in the exit ques. People would dress but not without a verbal altercation.

When Will The Lights Go Out For The Beast? (or ON!)
PKISecurity replied to PKISecurity's topic in Kings Island
I'm sorry that I suggested the strobe lights. I was on patrol opening the park at 10am in Nick and during my next rotations to Rivertown I got the call for a severe medical emergency at The Beast. When I arrived, I learned that the park guest in need was at the exit on the upper platform. She had a epileptic seizure from the picture flash going into the mouth on the first hill. She rode that way for five minutes. The poor gal had vomited everywhere and on everyone and didn't recover until the train returned to the station. Therefore, if it was a shorter ride...I think you could get away with strobes to accomodate any medical mishaps, but, 5 min on The Beast is a long time to wait to get help! That's why I'll never ride anywhere but the front car anymore. -
When Will The Lights Go Out For The Beast? (or ON!)

Well....If you have to have the lights on, (which could bring a different, awesome effect to The Beast at night seeing what's ahead and what's about to happen to you, then 'lights out') why not go Strobe Lights inside all the way around the double helex? But what a way to think outside the box hank!!! -
We'll have to meet up and I'll solve it for you! Did you get it at Foy's 5&10?

Also the line jumpers. Another tip would be to read the directions that come with your Rubik's cube. I used to work with a guy who just played with his cube all day long and could solve it in mere minutes, all learned, you guessed it, from the directions. I used this web site http://peter.stillhq.com/jasmine/JasmineLe...bikSolution.pdf and printed it out. I annoyed my wife the summer I solved it. I carried it into restuarants, had her drive while I solved it in the car. I practiced solving it while taking long walks and sitting in bed. I am now down to about 50-60secs and that's plenty fast for me. It took six weeks but I'm satisfied. I'm 35 and it was a life long dream. You can do it!

Absolute WORST park-going experience of my life!
PKISecurity replied to IBEW_Sparky's topic in Trip Reports
I'm sorry friend that you had such a miserable time at KI. Indianapolis is not a backyard trip to Mason, Ohio. I understand your frustrations and can comprehend your emotions about your trip being a wasted day. I once worked for PKI Security in 2005. We all had a clear objective to ensure safety and enforcing park rules. Our difficulty that year was not so much line jumping because we worked hard with the ride ops to reduce the temptation and redirected line jumping guest to the back of the line, but dealing with the new enforement of designated smoking areas and then those who elected to smoke in the que lines. Park guest are pretty much the same when you need to enforce a rule. They feel their park admission admits them to additional amenities above and beyond stated park rules posted at the front gate, the park map and posted signs throughout KI. Nobody wants to be called out that they were caught doing wrong and even adults act like little children. It's worse if they've been drinking. I'm sorry to say but many times it's the PASSCARD holders who know the rules very well and take FULL advantage of breaking rules because many of them practically live there all summer. It's a second home to them. A place parents leave children to be babysat 9-5 everyday. I recall seeing cardholders 4-5 times a week sometimes. The overall guest experience you had sounded to me that it unfortunately began with you entering the parking lot and witnessing the multitude of buses. I too would assume that the park would be overcrowded with kids and so forth having to deal with long lines. I know you spent additional money to upgrade, but I doubt you'll have the same experience twice. Although, Cedar Point is a more popular theme park, with bigger crowds so be prepared. I think you had kids...kids...kids...on your mind right from the start and therefore that was all you saw everywhere you looked. If you would have been brought in from the back of the park without seeing those busses, I truly believe you would have thought...."hmmm hot summer day, yep KI is the place to be'" and you would have accepted the long lines. It is a lottery to how busy the park will be each day and I know we ALL can't pick our days off to visit KI because of work obligations...but as always if you do research you see that most parks are less busy during the middle of the week. OVERALL, DON'T LET YOUR ONE DAY EXPERIENCE BE THE FAULT TO YOU NOT COMING BACK. YOU DID THE RIGHT THING BY ALERTING THE AUTHORITIES AND I PERSONALLY WOULD HAVE TAKEN THE CUT TO THE FRONT. NOBODY IN LINE WOULD HAVE OBJECTED. MOST DON'T EVEN THINK TWICE OR NOTICE. GUEST SERVICES WOULD HAVE BENT OVER BACKWARDS TO ASSIST YOU AND YOU TURNDOWN THEIR HELP TO REDUCE YOUR FRUSTRATIONS TO SOME POINT! -
When Will The Lights Go Out For The Beast? (or ON!)
PKISecurity replied to PKISecurity's topic in Kings Island
i must agree, it even gave me goosebumps when i read it. excilent job, you captured everything down to the smell, and i too would hate to see The Beast surrounded by more lights then it already is now. Thank you all for your kind comments. Ilove The Beast more than anything in this world and would never forgive KI for destroying it. I also love KICentral.com You guys are awesome. -
The Beast has become a Legendary Icon to Rollercoaster Enthusists around The World. It's famous for it's mouth swallowing first drop, speeds in excess of 65mph and the double helex finally. Altogether it brings one mean lashing to those unexpecting riders. What certainally rounds out The Beast as extraordinary is how after sunset it becomes wildly untame...it calls out to its riders one by one. It yearns for your presence and willingly...you obey! It's growl can be heard deep into the forrest, echoing in your ears...as an oncoming fear churns in your stomach. You approach the darkness and the scent of a musky nightfall reaches inside your every breath. You slowly ascend above the treetops and for one brief moment it becomes silent...then...terror overcomes your innermost being as you plunge into a pitch black oblivion as unmakeable objects rush past you. Your body has no control as the wind wisks every breath away from you...you try to scream and nothing comes out. You wonder when will this end and as you slow down, you begin to feel relieved that you survived. You catch your breath as if someone or somethings picks you out of your latest doom...you slowly climb out of the forrest. Waiting...wondering...what lurks ahead. Click...click...click...click goes the metronome under your seat. Atlast...for one, brief moment...you see a slice of Heaven. Oh, it's Kings Island you see, familiar territory and all it's beautiful splender...it's colors meshing in the background. You hear music and laughter...a sense of normalcy has awaken your senses. Then...it begins to go ALL WRONG. Something has turned against you and blindness takes its toll. You begin to worry as you feel your life begining to plunge past you. You feel your seat shift to the left as if The Beast has it's claws in you and wants to shake you loose and swallow you whole. You hear screaming all around you...and it won't stop. You hold on for dear life and then it happens...it engulfs you and everyone around you. Shaking and growling as it takes you inside the pit of The Beast's stomach. It sucks you in as it numbs you. You have nowhere to go. You begin to relax and accept your fate...you close your eyes and at that moment...it releases you. You're free. It lets you live to tell another tale. You're safe now. You're back under the shelter house's safe keeping...although you know, The Beast still awaits alone somewhere for it's next victim. It is my concern that the park will 'someday' push itself back behind 'Vortex' and next to The Beast. With it all lit up with rides and games, The Beast at night will no longer be of existence. Does ANYBODY have the same disheartening feeling about this and where could KI expand and protect our 'National Treasure'?

May I also add...good point sonofbeast07. PKI did keep the park closely to 'Themed Movie' decor, but I always wished deep down that if they could have modeled after another theme park, I wished it would have been modeled after Universal Studios Florida. I went there in '99 and if you'd ever been through like: Terminator or Back To The Future...even though you were waiting in line room to room, there were actors playing parts and videos to keep you entertained and interact with you. And by the time you got on the ride you were already sold into the movie plot and was ready for your interactive experience. Anymore, theme parks are lucky to keep a shade screen over the que line and keep line jumpers to a minimum.

I totally MISS the front gate music and the theme songs played in each que line as you waited. And by the way...'WHO' named the rides after the switchover??? They so truly 'stink'! Why not have given park quests the chance to name a few? You know...the dedicated people who come season after season and dump money into their tight little pockets. I figure as much the exec's gave their children the task and went with whatever thought that came out of their precious little minds. They don't seem to have any problems sending guest relations out with pencils and surveys to pester you into 'giving your thoughts on your park experiences'. Blah! There's my thought!
