  1. Unless it was nothing more than an honest to God mistake where the person in charge of copy editing just copied and pasted from one source to all. Maybe in error a person who was suppose to proofread didn't. I can honestly believe that it was a major typo vs a company trying to "sneak" one by in a situation like this. Plus if you don't like the meal plan you can take your dollars out of the park, no different than in years past. We only bought one and that's more for the growing kid so he doesn't make us leave when he gets hungry and I or my wife can eat what he doesn't. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. I love when Terp bounces a thread from years ago. 2009/2010 was when I really jumped feet first into this board. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. I've had multiple people ask me (even while in line for it!) how wet you get. Not if you get wet, but how wet. I'm always amazed by those questions. In all fairness, if you are not familiar to a ride over water it's a fair question. The roller coaster goes over water and shoots up a rooster tail with water. Plus the rides exit goes through a store so you can just see if people are wet or not. Many of the questions/comments that are mocked on here are honestly innocent questions. 4. Maybe I over simplified my point or missed it completely. I agree No chickens that keeping these rides adds values to the visits and it becomes a sort of tradition. Mine was more in the vein of "all rides close eventually" but don't let that deter you from making new rides or traditions. And I'm glad Racer is important to you and your family. For some reason Beast seems like it's the same thing to my family. So I never want to speak for someone else's tradition being destroyed. I just hate to see a family lose opportunities over a ride. That's all Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I don't think I would unless you can guarantee me rides around the park in some sort of covered or not vehicle. I would be interested to see just once what the park looks like with snow on the ground and what Maintenance does. But t if the question is do you want to wander around an empty park in the cold and see nothing behind the scenes or new, I would say nope nope nope Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Maybe I'm not as big as an enthusiast as other on here or maybe I'm more level headed by nature or maybe it's just because this week I feel I am. If Kings Island were to remove The Beast (which to me is more important of a ride than The Racer, again to me) I would be very very heart broken. I may not go to the park for a few years. The ride and I are emotionally linked as it's the ride my mom asks about every time I go and the one she must ride at least once per season (still today). If the ride ever left it would leave a big hole. But the park is more than the coasters. It's about fun entertainment and family memories. I honestly and truly believe I am more upset over the little things that are removed (trees, spots to rest, trams, ivy covered walkway) than I would be if this ride were to ever be removed. Big things come and go and to be honest if you want to ride a wooden racing coaster you have other options. If I want to ride a wooden coaster to replace The Beast I could find it. But the little things help separate the park from other parks. It's not the rides by themselves. Especially the big rides. Not many have memories of grandma riding Dimondback with them but grandma on the Scrambler or WWC? For sure! At Disney, Big Thunder Head is a good ride but I'm sure more people remember the pulling of the sword from the stone. It's easy to get upset and want to never visit a park but the good thing is the memories will still be there. And as long as the park stays open (Geuga Lake) you have the chance to continue to make memories with future generations. I barely remember the original Eagles but my mom was telling me my dad would take us on them all the time. This year I took my nephew on the new ones and will take my son next year. They won't know nor care about the old set but they will remember the new set. So if TL/DR don't let one decision ruin your opportunity to make new memories as a family or with friends. 7. Sort of a crazy world we live in (trying not to be political and if it is oh well). There are more people fighting for and demanding equality for whales while kids and real people have difficulty eating each week...
  8. We ended up renewing only one meal plan. The thought is that with a little guy it will be worth it to grab food he likes (Chic Fil A) without having to run out to the car or down the street. It was honestly something we did and wasn't 100% happy about it. It was a well we do have t eat so this is no better than the alternative.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I heard management at MiA had a falling out with Chance, so I wouldn't count on it.For a park that had a "falling out" with Chance they still have a lot of their products including one roller coaster. I count 8 rides atleast(including their D.H. Morgan(now a part of Chance Rides)) that are Chance Rides products. Carowinds on the other hand has one with another two more than were recently removed plus one or two removed in the 80s.If I had a "falling out" with a company I would be dumping my products of their that would cause me to interact with them. Having a falling out and not doing future business (short or long term) is different than spending thousands if not hundreds of thousands to tear out existing rides over a spat. 10. 4 tickets? Is that for real? What's the point? I'm guessing you get free entrance all year which is great but if you can't bring friends it gets boring very quickly. 4 tickets is disappointing the f you were hoping to bring a few people multiple times. I really enjoy our park but it's tough to do that ya kno Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. We have said it ad nauseam on here. Your workers should want to not lose their jobs for a certain reason (great pay, great perks, etc) and should have a "fear" of losing their jobs. When that's missing you get lazy or non caring employees. Maybe KI needs to bump the pay to bring in a better type of employee. Maybe KI needs to have better perks for the employee. Maybe KI just needs to fire a few people to make the others "Fly Right." Whatever it is KI is not doing it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. It's because of the absurd absurd absurd per profit of a drink. See this as a reason. http://www.pdco.com/node/88289 The link relates that each 20 ounce soda runs the company about $0.22. So if the park sells a 20 oz for $4.99 that means the park is making $4.77 per Coke. If the bottle holds 40 ounces then it's roughly cents per fill up. So remember if you pay $24 for the unlimited refills you have to drink almost 55 bottles worth of pop during the summer for the park to lose money on you... The mark up is truly significant on pops versus the mark up on food. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. At least with Twister there was a world we entered into. When Twister came out it was a big time movie. So we entered into a world where experienced the tornado. I remember being younger and the tour guide talked about taking cover, etc. so at least there was a story and that as we were about to experience a tornado. The que line used to say it with interviews and weather warnings. Fast and the Furious ride reminds me of BttF mixed with the original Days of Thunder ride. Again at least it's a world to be emerged in. Thanks for the description but I'm still not sold on this ride. But maybe it will be great. I like Jimmy but I never thought man that would be a fun world to be in because it's like I live in that world. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. I really like what Universal does. So I get what you are saying but why is this ride going to be enjoyable. Unless you have insider information.... So are we going to be in the audience? Are we going on a walking tour of NY with Jimmy Fallon? I just don't get the idea of this ride right now. If it turns out with a great premise I'll line up and see it but I don't get a story from it right now.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. I am really trying to be open minded because I really loved my last trip to Universal and Disney... But with that being said... I really don't get this ride idea. With Spidey and Harry Potter there was a world to go to, this seems... Odd? Maybe when more info comes out it will make more sense but I'm just not sure I get the idea of a ride like HP but with Jimmy Fallon and New York. As for immersionable experiences and unique rides I feel that each park can be seen as equals. You can look at the Harry Potter ride at Universal or you can look at Haunted Mansion for immersion into a story. You have Toy Story or Men In Black. You have Spider-Man or you have Star Tours... Jurassic Park, Tower of Terror, Mummy, Pirates, Etc If you look at Thrill Rides you have Hulk, Jurassic Park, the Dragons, or you have the Space Mountain, Expedition Everest, Big Thunder Mountain.... The only real difference (from someone who loves and appreciates both parks) is the properties being used. If you Love Jurassic Park or Harry Potter that's going to seem better than Stat Wars or Mickey Mouse. Both are fairly unique parks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Agreed. They are nicer than in the years past but it would also be nice to get a meal off of the meal plan in less time than it takes to wait for The Beast (only slightly sarcastic, it took 2 hours for a group of 4 adults and 3 toddlers to get our food starting at standing in line to finally receiving it). I'm renewing my pass because of the unique opportunities the park has and the few but great shining stars that make a trip worth it. I think I may let my meal plan slide for next year Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. You can be super nice and a genuine good person and yet have no talent at your current place of employment. I think a lot of the complaints are more about the quality of the work being done and not the quality of the employee's moral fiber. The people who take 10 minutes to make a cheese coney are probably very nice but are still not good at their job. Same for the photographers. They may be a bit pushy but overall are nice. But they can't frame a shot or work in a background it's a reflection of the talent they have for the job. The Pluto story with more details. Basically my sister went and filled out the lost and found form. If they located it they would send it to the hotel or to her house (they actually mailed my moms hat back that she left by the pool). Disney also told us that if you lost your stuffed animal that you purchased in the park (with receipt) they would give you a new one right away. But since the Pluto was bough before our trip they said there wasn't much they could do. Needless to say that receiving a Pluto and Mickey in the mail was a pleasant surprise and made my nephews day. Rightfully so, Disney has this whole thing down to a science. From building anticipation to sending you home it's all about customer service and creating future customers. Cheap (for a contained audience) food and drinks to all inclusive photo packages it's made to make you think "wow that was a bit expensive but look how fun and super easy everything was. " with that knowledge maybe you plan another trip in a few years, buy into the DVC or plan a return trip for 10 years or more. Either way I would guess that 60% or more return to Disney. CF on the other hand still seems to be stuck in the customer right now versus future customer mindset. That could be because as a whole regional theme parks are bought and sold while Disney is building or working on a giant brand. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. I don't hate twister and actually sort of like it. But when we went a few years back, counting my wife and I there were 5 people who experienced the ride. Mind you that day there was walk on lines for Mummy but hour waits for Men In Black and Simpsons and over an hour for Rip Rocket. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. A simulator ride is not bad (love Simpsons and BttF before it) but New York with Fallon? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. I would much rather wait in an hour or 2 (or longer) long line for a very unique fun interesting maze than wait 30-60 minutes for a few tired mazes. I feel for the actors. You dont really have time to reset between groups. Slaughter House seems to really have it going on as the groups seem much more manageable and allows the actors to do their things. But other houses where groups of 25 roll through it seems almost like the actors never get a moment.
  21. Good point about Disney. We were hunting them down, and waiting in lines of 3-4 families deep to have them take it. And guess what, they really knew what they were doing. There was at one point, no less than 4-5 photographers all getting pictures of families infront of the castle on the main street. We were one of them. And you could not find the other people behind us getting their pictures taken either. Its like the photographer knew what he/she was doing and was trained to frame it to make it your photo and not just a photo. I remember one of the photogs had a trainer. And there was a group of people being trained to take photos. Very fun and unique. Man I really do love KI but I really really miss the old days of the park.
  22. Honestly I really thought the selections were very good actually. You have chicken fingers, pizza, burgers (like you said), but with just a little bit of searching or walking you can get Panda Express, Subway, Chik-Fil-A sandwiches (or fingers), fresh Philly Steak near Diamondback, Skyline, Chicken Wraps or salads in Reds Grille, mexican food at Hank's, cooked Sausage in Soak City....Honestly thats a lot of choices for an Amusement park thats not run by Disney or Universal. The problem in food service is not the selection... Edit: Just read that you wrote most places... yes thats true. A lot of places do have the same or similar foods. It would be nice to see a few more places with unique food offerings, but probably Pizza, Chicken, and Burgers are super popular.
  23. Doesn't help when the photog doesn't listen Hey lets get the fountains 1.2.3 smile But I want the fountains Take this card after 2.... Throws card in garbage. That is 100% true from Sunday when my nephew was in costume and we went as a whole family. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. We loved our Disney Photogs. Everywhere we wanted a picture they were there. We gladly paid the 150$ or whatever it was for our group photos before we got there. We got on ride photos, we got pictures in front of buildings, with characters. I believe with all of the stock photos and unique photos combined for a group of 6 adults and 2 toddlers for 5 days was 500 photos? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. That's the thing that irks me. They have the photogs spread out so you can't get by them either under the International Restaurant or on the sides of the fountain. There could be a line of people waiting to get the photography done in front of the fountain but no one is there working. Also the level of photographs has significantly went down hill. I'm all about learning your trade but what good is it for the family of 4 to get a memory photo when it's blurry or the composite of the shot is so bad it's comical, or even if the photog can't judge head room, personal space, or anything.m else. I used to stop and be nice and look at the photo to see if it was worth buying. The answer is no. I can take a better photo in selfie mode. At least my shot composite and background work for the shot I'm taking. If it wasn't for the cheap entertainment and kiddie rides that my son likes, I wouldn't waste my money next year on a pass. The quality of employees as a whole has dropped. Food service, photogs, rides, games.... It's not right or fair to compare Kings Island to a place like Disney but I'm going to anyway. I have no qualms dropping $2000+ for a trip to Disney because I know what I'm getting in terms of service. It's hard to justify spending $200 for two adult passes for next year since the service is no better than you get at McDonalds.... I had a family member file a lost and found item at Walt Disney world for my nephews lost Pluto stuffed animal. A few weeks later WDW sent her a brand new Pluto saying they forgot him in the park and since Pluto can't travel alone he brought his pal Mickey. They sent her a large Plush Mickey and Pluto. Meanwhile, KI can't orchestrate a phone call to apologize for the mistake with the lockers, or have enough employees to work a good stand... I imagine a lost and found ticket at KI finds its way into the trash. KI is my home park, and it holds very special memories for me and my son enjoys seeing Snoopy and some of the bonus stuff the Park does is great but the basics (good photogs, employees, etc) the park misses on so so badly.
