  1. and it aint over. when the going gets tough the tough gets going...
  2. I would be incredibly sad if AE was ever taken out. It is my last memory of my friend Jess. It was summer 2002 and I heard her yell my name as we set off out of the station. We get back into the station and wait for her and her friend. The 4 of us hang out and have fun for a few hours. We talk about seeing each other during the fall of the school year. I dont remember if we did or not, Im sure we did. Next thing I know this is in the paper http://enquirer.com/editions/2002/11/06/loc_fatal06.html and I am attending her funeral. But I still remember AE the last time we hung out. I would be incredibly sad when that ride reaches its end.
  3. Well, I have ridden TTD.... That coaster is a lot of fun. Fury looks fun, but doesnt seem to offer up a largely different experience than other coasters I have ridden.... so for me I can confidently say without a doubt, that TTD may/should/probably could be more fun than Fury.....
  4. I'm going to guess the seat belts had less to do with capacity than the assigning of seats, sending out not full trains and overall train operation.
  5. Agreed a two or more hour commute is probably not worth it to a 16 year old. But most jobs you will have to drive almost 15 mins each way as it is, seems like the other 10/15 mins for a summer job you will enjoy is just the cost of doing business. Heck if you don't count Bridgewater falls (near where I live) you are looking at about a 15/20 minute drive to most "part time job opportunities) as it is. KI is only 30ish because 129 dumps out into Mason. But if Tylersville is busy it is almost 40 min drive
  6. ^They are not screaming in joy, its pain from having the restraints go Mike Tyson on their cranium.... As for revamping/removing AE, it is for a certain group of riders. Some times that group moves on and goes for different rides but there are new riders being born every day for that ride...
  7. 30 minutes is a cake walk. Heck its almost a 30 minute drive for me to get to the park as it is now.
  8. Something to be decided at Reds Grill? PHilly Cheese Steak? Count me in!
  9. Perception is such a cool thing. I think thats probably why the multi-colored dress was such a big deal. Reminds me of how I hated Outer Limits when I was younger because my head banged around inside the harness. So I felt like it was a horrible ride. Now not so much. Same with Vortex as my head does not slam from side to side as much, I wonder if that changes the way I interpret things.
  10. Makes sense. Sort of/really sad though. Some of the best circus moments are when the Elephants come out. Its the only time in my life that I can get that close to a giant. I feel that Ringling does it right by their animals. I was just at a different circus this past weekend and the animals looked much more worse for wear than the Ringling animals. Now I know I need to go to a Ringling Circus between now and 2018 just so my son can see them one more time up close.
  11. lol many of us have grown in various ways in 15 years, I'm sure! I actually shrunk by about 40lbs since then. Congrats! I am struggling with weight right now, so anytime posts something good like that, its worth a huge congrats.... I wonder about roughness as a psychological thing. 15 years ago, the steel coasters in the park were King Cobra, AE, Vortex, Top Gun, and Outer Limits. Not smooth in the transitions and somewhat rough. But 15 years ago they felt good. Now we have Diamondback and Banshee which by all accounts (except for a few) are buttery smooth. Could it be that psychologically we interpret it as rougher than it was 15 years ago, only because something smoother came along? While the wooden coasters remained the same because there is no "rougher" coaster. Heck maybe to even explain why The Beast seems smoother is because in our minds eye, the coaster is out of control and tough to ride? Maybe?
  12. I also find the drive home from KI much longer and more boring that I did 15 years ago (and currently I live 15 mins closer than I did 15 years ago). Shark who has grown in more than 1 way/direction over 15 years that may or may not have affected the ability to enjoy a coaster....
  13. Who is responsible for checking the plans out with the state safety board? The company building it or the person requesting it?
  14. Mine was more as a reason why people dont look things up. Seas should do everything it can to self promote and counter-act the negativity. I said from the beginning that the way this was handled was a huge mistake. Immediately following the Blackfish Premier or before it, Seas should have had multiple press conferences about what it is doing and how it is doing it the right way. Talk about how things are going to change, talk about the bigger tanks, etc. By getting out infront of the media mass hysteria Seas could have made the Blackfish documentary look tame/poor. Have the President/CEO/COO of Seas standing next to a Penguin answering questions. Have him sitting on the edge of a pool with the whales in the background. Heck show the footage of them rescuing whales from shoddy companies. Instead we got press releases.....
  15. Eh but most people rightly or wrongly assume that if it's being aired on CNN it has a measure of truthfulness to it. Discovery Channel used to run a 100% fact based shark week. Now they don't. For some people it's hard to make the logical jump to self study.
  16. I have no dog in this fight, couldn't care less. From a park stand point, sure recognize the ride etc. From a media side and PR side, what is the point of this ride as a doc? What story does it have to tell? Does it make people want to come to KI more? The ride only pushed the boundaries of height and speed. Again, there are better coasters in this state, heck in the park, that would be better as a documentary. *** cantwaitfortomorrow if you want a doc, go and make one. Independent film makers can approach a company with an idea. Story board. Request media interviews. Track down former workers, etc.
  17. I have freely admitted on here that I have very little idea of which rides are made by which company. My favorite ride hands down is The Bat and/or Big Bad Wolf followed by The Beast. Top Thrill Dragster and Banshee tie for the next spot. One of the worst rides I have been on was Raptor (just didn't enjoy it) and Maverick.
  18. Not directly related but I have a sweet offer from Cincy Bell for $67 a month. 30gb download, home phone, HBO showtime sports etc. ...
  19. Oh wow you were working there when it happened? Yes. In Action Zone... I'll only say the that particular day is when I began to despise news media and my hate towards them became more apparent few years later over another incident in another park under another chain. That's for another discussion entirely...those who know me know the one in which I speak. Since I would be extremely shocked that there is ever an *official* SOB documentary, perhaps the title of the thread should be changed so it isn't misleading. As a former media member, I am truly sorry you have such disdain towards the field.
  20. Cancelling our Comcast service was without question the worst experience I have ever had with any company. Time Warner is definitely no better. I had service through them in my dorm at college. When I moved out, I cancelled it. I have service at home already, so I didn't need to move that service with me. I called up the representative to cancel and I was assured that my service had been terminated. No equipment to drop off because I own my own cable modem (which cost me $20 on Amazon and saved $5 a month from my bill. Highly worthwhile) The next month, my credit card got charged by them, precisely the amount of my old bill. So I called again to ask what the heck was going on. They refunded my card and assured me that it was cancelled again. The next month, I received another charge from them. So I called again. And demanded another refund. And another cancellation. And told them to go ahead and cancel my home internet and cable, too. By the end of the call, I got my money back (again), was assured that it was cancelled (again) and got off the phone with my home service intact (which I really didn't WANT to cancel anyway, but I needed a bargaining chip and was willing to switch to Cincinnati Bell if absolutely necessary) and my bill on the home service cut in half for a year. Finally, the charges stopped. But I watched my statements like a hawk for months after that. On the one hand, I guess it worked out in the end. On the other hand, it was cumulatively HOURS that I spent on the phone sorting that out, and time is money... That is why I am hesitant to set up automatic payment schedules. Just dont trust these companies sometimes....
  21. I would take it a step farther. To put the time and energy into a failed coaster that was around for a few years is sort of a waste of time. Sure give it 10 or 15 minutes, but 75+ minutes all on its own? That would be rougher than SOB's helixes..... With so many more interesting and game changing coasters and rides, why this one? It wasn't the first wooden coaster with a loop. It was the biggest but overall it suffered from poor craftsmanship. There are at least 6 coasters still standing in the state of Ohio that would warrant a documentary of its own.
  22. Exactly. And to answer why I included non-coasters has been pointed out. The company as a whole has to be considered when purchasing rides. I'm sure CF loves the negative light of having a boat flip on its riders.
  23. Seaworld needs to almost go on the offensive similar to McDonalds. 30 second TV spots saying check out "FHFHF.com" to get the real answers. Then its just has the weekly/monthly question being answered through a infotainment video. McDonald's can show you in 3-5 minutes how they make the chicken McNugget, Seaworld can show you in 3-5 minutes the care they give the animals....
