  1. I really enjoy QSL. I get the Mustang Chicken sandwich and just recently tried their wings, which were solid. I guess we have a lot of goodies on here......
  2. Do they still give you a warm delicious cookie before seeing Santa?
  3. Watching the Cartoons released and they were nice to see some old cartoons unedited. Now they have the Disneyland description with Walt. Very interesting and fun to watch Walt talk about the park.
  4. Now will those employees be paid $9.50/10/10.50 since they have a year or 3 of experience by the time this passes or will they only get 9/9.5/10 and the new employees get 9... Min wage raise doesn't always have an affect on other raises.....
  5. and I dont think I will ever reading anything more gross on this webs..... poop storm... and now that takes it.... I learned a long time ago in Biology that what you are smelling are little bits of the material floating through the air. Cinnamon, flowers, spaghetti, poop, urine, etc....
  6. I actually have watched Ken Ham speak. He is a very engaging speaker. I may not agree with his point of view but the man can move a crowd.
  7. And killing park experience is never the way to get more people into the park to enjoy it, spend more money, and come back....
  8. or the kids in the video are now in their (possible) early 40s?
  9. That article I can read. It is not blocked by a paywall. Yet the other one is, and without an apparent reason why. Color me confused. I think it has to do with the date the article was posted, maybe? I think there is a bigger problem, for Sea World in the fact that they are not "unique" anymore. 10-20-30 years ago, people didnt have the opportunity to view these creatures. SW was the only (or one of the few) spots to see them. Not so much now, as the internet allows us opportunities to study and look at animals in a way that we never had seen before. A closed sea pen would be interesting... I picture the Jaws underwater Tunnel personally.
  10. Well it didn't really look like a bump.... It looked like the back end of one carriage was in the people part of the other carriage. Something like this happening at 10 feet is scary but at over 100 feet, it's frightening. Plus, again, most people go to parks thinking they won't be put in real danger with the possibility of being really hurt. Or stranded at the top for hours....
  11. I believe DeadEyes, Ltd was part of ImageMovers (or makers). Yeah the problem with digital animation is that it can move into the realm of the Uncanny Valley, very very quickly. Uncanny Valley basically talks about the response the viewer has when something looks "too real." If it looks too real but we know its fake, then we have a negative response to it. Polar Express I think suffered more from this than any other movie. It attempted to portray as close to "real" as possible without actually being real. That is all fine and good when its "things" : animals, objects, vehicles etc. When its a person: Which is why, personally, I think the big block buster movies have characters that have some sort of feature that lets you know "Hey this is an animation" As compared to when using a CGI enhanced monster in a "real movie" **All images used under the copy write for educational purposes**
  12. I dont mean to play devils advocate (oh wait, I sort of do )...... There are a lot of businesses/buildings that have sat vacant for years in the Cincinnati area. So it doesnt seem too surprising to me that for the last few years if it was up for sale an no serious offers were made. Maybe it was too much, maybe it just wasnt what someone wanted. I do find it odd that all of sudden its closing and new plans are being made. It makes me think that it may be a more true statement than false. Maybe the people who were looking at it saw the potential for only a resort type atmosphere and being across from Great Wolf Lodge, sort of hurts the idea that it could be profitable.
  13. I think you will hear those screams in a major motion picture coming out soon...... I love discussions like this because it lets me look into and read about park closures.... As for Opryland, more directly at Terp, which do you believe that the park was torn down because of the reasons stated at the time or what the new CEO stated in 2001 that the former owners/operators didnt even try....
  14. And SOB wasn't the first wooden looping coaster, right? Just the only one at the time with the biggest loop?
  15. This is something you must do next year. Period. No other coaster credits, just this. Its one of the few easy and simple things that can be done but its breathtaking. I am assuming you have never seen fireworks from up there either...
  16. Yea I can't see how this isn't a win-win. TCM gets some new programming (and new advertising dollars) while WDW gets a refresh of an older ride.
  17. I never said it was the "end" of animation, I just said that right now the whole climate of the industry is different than it was back in the 80s/90s. Is this good or bad? I guess we'll find out. All I know is that studios are laying animators off or hiring them for temp positions (some of them anyway). And they can do this because there are so many animators now that they're happy to have the work. Yea but... (I use that way too much) that is how it is in almost all media fields. Newspapers, TV, News, etc. 20 years ago a news production staff was filled 8-10 or more people. Now you can run a whole production staff with 1 maybe 2 people. Animators are getting laid off, but the biggest difference between Pixar and say Dreamworks (or others) is the quality of the story. I dont think it has anything to do with animation. Ice Age 3 compared to Toy Story 3. The ability of the story to be told has more to do with the inability of a company to make money versus the art being used.
  18. Then again, everything happens in cycles.... In 10-20 years, what ever corporation is owning KI may deem that wooden coasters are super cheap with a great ROI....
  19. No offense Skyrider but you are making some very broad and obvious points. Of course if it's priced right with things people want then people will come. Not to mention that the likely hood of cold and miserable day/nights would be higher in November/December than in September/October.
  20. see if it were to come back as that, then you would have my attention as a paying customer. I dont need to go ride rides at KI, but I would need something to drag me out on a 30 degree night. A unique experience would be awesome. I just feel, that overall Christmas is hard to target to people to do things just because it can get so so cold out.
  21. Agreed, but most shuttle coasters I have encountered have not been worth the long wait (for me).
  22. Not sure my opinion on the above debate, as it sounds like both could be plausible, so I will leave that in ya'll's hands.... Here is my opinion on Winterfest. What could KI possibly offer than would make it interesting/worth it for families to come to it? When you look at the Zoo stuff, the zoo exhibits are still sort of open. You may not see some/most of the animals, but you can go into the cat house, see the bears, etc + see the lights and experience everything. When you go to KI, would it be just the lights? For me and my family to attend, there has to be something more than just the lights. Ice Skating would be a nice start. Include people walking around with Christmas carolers, a meet and greet (w/ Photo option) with Santa. See some Reindeer and maybe 1 or 2 shows would be great. If its not all of the above (at least) then I feel that no matter the price its almost not worth it to me as my Zoo pass works for the lights there....
  23. It looks like right after the first big drop, there is a switch track. Probably used to bring it back into the station... These are nice, but holy cow talk about poor poor poor people moving.....1 maybe 2 train operation? 1 sitting on the lift hill?
  24. Could this be a blessing in disguise? Maybe the parks in their current state go ka-blooey, but maybe a reorganised, better run, with even better animal care will emerge from this?
