  1. ^ I don't particularly enjoy being startled, though it's hard to scare me when I'm expecting monsters around every corner in a Haunt attraction. I'd post some tips to help avoid being startled, but certain scaractors would read them and be ready for you. Perhaps they'd be less scary if ohiocolts would go through them with you.
  2. Bring-a-friend discounts are advertised for current passholders. New 2015 passes aren't valid (aside from the one free 2014 visit) until next year.
  3. ^ It's my understanding that you can buy the $14.99 ticket at any ticket window upon presenting your renewed pass. I don't think there's any separate coupon or voucher.
  4. ^ All passholders can bring a friend for $21.99 on Sundays. The price drops to $14.99 if you renew this fall. Details of the 2015 preview have yet to be announced, as far as I'm aware. By renewing now, you're guaranteed to get in.
  5. Cedar Point was dead today as well, even though lots of enthusiasts showed up. The longest line I waited in was 20 minutes for Top Thrill Dragster around 4:30pm. Most rides (with the usual exceptions) were station waits all day. In the last hour of operation, I rode Mean Streak in the front row (x2), Magnum, Top Thrill Dragster and Maverick (x6).
  6. This weekend is the inaugural "Run & Ride" weekend at KI, and runners in all 3 weekend races got free admission tonight. Also, the weather is fantastic.
  7. ^^ Technical problems often prevent parks other than your home park from modifying your pass, as the master record lives on a server at your home park. When you renew a platinum pass from another park at Kings Island, they'll probably create a new 2015 Kings Island platinum pass. Whether they give you renewal perks and/or pricing seems to be a matter of debate; I suggest asking nicely. You could try to have them transfer your 2014 other park platinum pass onto a new 2014 Kings Island platinum pass prior to the upgrade, but I would not recommend this route. Some data might not get copied properly, such as any 2014 all-season dining plan(s) that you purchased.
  8. The site has officially gone live. If you're interested, check it out and make sure to take photos & video at the park this fall. Upload them to Magisto via the special contest page, using the appropriate "theme" and hashtag. Magisto will automatically compile your submission into a music video which becomes your contest entry. The entire process takes about 5 minutes. Each Cedar Fair park has 10 grand prizes, each consisting of 4 admission tickets, 4 Fast Lane passes, 4 drink bottles and parking. Importantly, the ARV of each prize is under $600. If you plan to enter, make sure to read the official rules and all instructions before entering. Good luck; hopefully we'll see a winner from KICentral!
  9. If I ride Mangarou now, with the transformation partially complete, could I count it as 0.9 credits on Mantis and 0.1 on Rougarou?
  10. A Cedar Point regular pass is valid at Cedar Point only. It can't be used for anything at Kings Island unless upgraded to platinum. If you are renewing a 2014 Cedar Point regular pass into a 2015 Cedar Fair platinum pass, you would not qualify for the renewal perks at Kings Island. You may or may not qualify for the platinum renewal price (~$5 savings). Doing this would not get you admission to Kings Island this fall; you would continue to enjoy admission at Cedar Point only until 2015. If you purchase or renew a 2015 Cedar Point regular pass, it will be valid for admission (but not parking) at Cedar Point only in 2015. A new pass would also be valid for one free visit this fall. If you purchase a new 2015 Cedar Fair platinum pass, you would receive unlimited admission and parking at all Cedar Fair parks in 2015. You would also get one free visit this fall at the park where you purchase the pass.
  11. ^ That would presumably be a priority for the outside video vendor, which probably isn't making money yet.
  12. ^ According to dorneypark.com's Accesso store, gold pass pricing is the same for new & renewed passes. There is a renewal discount on platinum passes, but that's seemingly valid across the chain.
  13. According to the Kings Island e-mail newsletter, there is another contest through Magisto this fall. Winner(s) will receive a "VIP ticket package" in 2015. Take photos & videos at the park, share them on the special page on visitkingsisland.com, and you might win! More info: https://www.visitkingsisland.com/contest/share-your-scares
  14. ^ Platinum passes are currently marketed as "Cedar Fair platinum passes"; it should be possible to renew at any Cedar Fair park, technical issues aside. I would recommend visiting Guest Services at the park. Ask to renew your Cedar Point platinum pass into a Kings Island platinum pass with Kings Island renewal perks. Before you leave, ask them to verify that you have a working pass for both 2014 and 2015.
  15. ^ They have discounts for groups of 10+; $19 on weekends instead of $25, according to the website.
  16. I would guess that doing it correctly might cost something on the order of $100,000. Certainly less than a roller coaster of significant size. Much of the needed infrastructure is already in place.
  17. Anyone renewing a gold/platinum season pass can get it free on one Sunday this fall, likely explaining the relative length of those lines.
  18. If you look at the markup of www.visitkingsisland.com itself, "King's Island" appears multiple times. (The erroneous text isn't visible on the page in normal web browsers because it is replaced with graphics by the page's style sheet.)
  19. Unless added to a Kings Island regular season pass, which ceased to be valid after Labor Day. (The dining plan is only valid when the pass associated with it is used for admission that day.)
  20. Details of police/security staffing aren't (and shouldn't be) made public. If there is an emergency, guests should listen to park associates for instructions. Onlookers are there because it's human nature to be curious. The park police department currently doesn't release records of incidents at the park. Related litigation and legislation is pending in Ohio. No.
  21. ^ Fully loading http://www.KICentral.com/forums/ after clearing the cache takes ~2.5 seconds here. Not fast, per se, but not molasses.
  22. ^ Never be afraid to learn or to admit when you don't know (or have bad information). No one is always right. People replying to your posts were not trying to make fun of you. Content posted to public message boards is subject to critique from other contributors. The hope is that people learn from each other and have an enjoyable discussion. If someone claims that your statement is inaccurate, it can help to do some research before posting a rebuttal. Reading the same argument over and over is annoying to your audience.
  23. That's a rather broad statement. I guess we know different Michiganders and Canadians. Granted, it's much easier for most in Michigan to get somewhere warm(er), without flying or crossing an international border.
