I have few memories of the pre-Snoopy era, so old names are not a problem for me. However, I do have a tendency to refer to KI&MVRR, RFYLCB, and Dodgems as simply the train, the log flume, and the bumper cars, respectively.

There's likely a very good reason why the contest is not on Facebook. Facebook apparently has very strict rules about contests that severely restrict how they can be run there. Whoever runs HW's Facebook page has mentioned those restrictions several times as explanation for why they don't do contests there or even mention other place's Twitter contests beyond just saying "go to our Twitter to find information on some contests". From what I understand (and I may very well be wrong about this), Facebook's rules only permit pages to run contests through a custom, paid app.

I had the flames as well, then I bypassed my cache. Now it's broken for me as well. I would try re-uploading it and see if that solves the problem.

I am staying onsite, so I'll make note of that. Thanks for the tips.

^Justin who?

How? Especially when you, remember, cannot tell from the entrance whether the inside queues are being used. And as for asking the ride op, I've found that sometimes they can be less than accurate as well. I trust only my own judgment when it comes to estimating wait times.

Getting stuck on Kings Island roller coasters.
jcgoble3 replied to tuxedoman52's topic in Kings Island
Oh, if you're being that liberal with the definition of "stuck", then I've been stuck twice. Once on Flying Ace for someone to put their legs down, and once at the bottom of the lift hill of the Blue Racer during Coasting for Kids when they dispatched the train with the lap bar for the empty seat behind me still up (a ride op came out and put it down, then we started back up). What would happen if the lap bar were left up? Does this cause a problem? I don't know. Obviously, the computer did not stop them from dispatching the train. -
From what I've seen, typically on weekdays, they'll use the right elevator to take guests to the top deck. I've never gone up the tower on a rainy day, so I can't speak to that. However, on Saturdays, I've noticed that they commonly use both decks to handle the increased number of guests. I've been on the bottom deck once, on opening day this year. All of my other trips up the tower have been to the top deck.

I would prefer that they fill the inside queues first. Currently, if I see a line outside, I do not know whether the inside queues are be used and cannot get inside to see without waiting in line. Therefore, I cannot determine the wait time (since I never trust wait time signs) and am less likely to want to get in line in the first place. This is why I rarely ride FOF. However, if they were to fill the inside queues first and I saw no line outside, I could easily walk up to the hanger, see how many people are waiting in there, determine the wait time, and make a decision as to whether I want to ride it at that time. The key here is that they would have to be consistent with filling the inside first, otherwise we're back to the guessing game that I'm usually not interested in playing.

Nice report! The guest-operated sprayers at the entrance to the river have been greatly reduced in force since the preview weekend. I also noticed earlier this month that the streams used to fill the buckets at the bridge next to Paradise Plunge were either broken or turned off, and the same was true of the big bucket at Splash Landing.

Because it has two tracks, meaning they can keep one side open to the public.

The river is not longer. As for doubling in size, it's very clearly supposed to be area. See http://www.cleveland.com/travel/index.ssf/2012/05/in_southwest_ohio_soak_city_op.html , which says it went from 15 acres to 33 acres. Google "Kings Island Soak City double" and you'll get a whole list of other sources saying something along the lines of "doubling to 33 acres".

Cedar Point Questions
jcgoble3 replied to jdawg1998's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Assuming you have a KI pass, I strongly recommend that you take what would otherwise be put toward admission at CP and use it to upgrade your KI pass to Platinum (remembering that the upgrade must be processed at KI). Even if that doesn't cover the whole difference, the extra money spent will be well worth it between access to ERT and other perks, including useful and meaningful food deals. You'll be glad you did. That sounds great, but it's honestly too much money, especially if I use it just for two days. Unless I have another trip to Cedar Point this year, I don't find the use in paying so much money. Remember that you don't have to pay the full $179 for the Platinum Pass if you already have a KI pass, just the difference between what you paid for your existing pass and the Platinum price. If you bought your pass during the fall sale last year, that's a difference of just $109, less if you bought it in the offseason or spring. A two-day ticket to CP is going to cost you $67 of that online. The extra $42 is well worth it IMO to get ERT and the food deals, plus you'll then have it available in case you get another chance to go to CP this year (and you never know what life may throw at you). -
WDW denies entry to teen in Tinker Bell costume
jcgoble3 replied to jcgoble3's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
That's what gets me about this. Why in the world did they give her all of that? It should have simply been "go home (or back to your resort) and change", and once she did that and came back, she should simply be treated like any other guest. Rewarding guests for breaking the rules is asinine. -

^ I don't see one on the first page of this forum, which goes back to the beginning of July. The date on the article is July 6, so it wouldn't be any older than that. -

I didn't have any problems with ads hindering reading. -
Having only been to HW and KI this year, I would have to go with HW. HW wins with Mammoth. KI loses on IMO false advertising (how is SC double the size of BB when the only addition is one new wave pool? I still can't figure that one out.).

Cedar Point Questions

1. Definitely give Mantis a try. It may surprise you like it did me; I now rank Mantis above all steel coasters at KI, even DB. Front row is worth the extra wait (and that line moves four at a time, so it's faster than some other coasters' front seat lines). 2. If you've got two days, you've got time to hit all the coasters. Don't worry about it. 3. Same ride but different views. Also, I believe maXair typically doesn't have as long of a line as Delirium, so take advantage of that. 4. Skyhawk and Witches' Wheel. The latter was the first ride in nearly a year that I was truly scared on when I rode it about a year ago. 5. TTD is very, very intense and even more so in the front seat, but it's also over in the blink of an eye. As to whether it will freak you out, I can't answer that. I recommend you just give it a go. 6. Pink's. Pink's. Pink's. Did I mention Pink's? 7. If you can do ERT, I recommend entering through the Marina Gate if at all possible and hightailing it to Millie as soon as they allow you to. If you get there quickly, you can get a short wait for the front seat, which will have a significant line even during ERT. After that, go to Maverick, which doesn't build up nearly as long of a front seat line since they can put 6 of every 36 riders up front compared to just 2 of every 36 on MF. After Maverick, go wait in line for TTD so you're not faced with the longer lines later in the day (and this is another opportunity to potentially get a shorter-than-usual front seat wait, which can easily be an extra 30 minutes all day long). Raptor will likely have shorter lines in the evening and can wait until then. 8. Take a few minutes to relax on the beach. Get a handstamp at the Resorts Gate, go down to the edge of the beach, take your shoes and socks off, and just stroll leisurely down the beach to the Beach Gate. Or go the other way. Take the time to feel the sand between your toes. Wriggle your feet down into the sand and use your hands to create a pile of sand around your legs, then sit down and rest for a few minutes with your feet still buried. Maybe go down to the water's edge and wade through the shallow water (but only in the designated swimming area!) or even just lay down in the sand for a few minutes and rest. There are spray stations at each exit off the beach where you can rinse off the sand. A little R&R goes a long way toward keeping you going all day. 9. Above all, have fun! -
^ I listen to K99.1 all the time and have heard that commercial multiple times, including once while I was driving through the KI parking lot. They've been playing it all summer.

Six Flags Magic Mountain - thoughts afterward

I have no experience with SFMM itself, but generally speaking, Terpy is right. That Saturday is right in the middle of peak vacation season and is likely to be a super-busy day for most, if not all, amusement parks.
