Let's take my situation: I receive Social Security disability payments that are just barely over the federal poverty guidelines. Yet, by careful saving and budgeting and paying close attention to my spending, I can afford a Platinum Pass, the occasional weekend trip (e.g. HoliWood Nights), even a full vacation if I plan and begin saving far enough in advance—and for the most part, without debt. Part of my April budget includes money for a possible Fast Lane pass for opening day. I set aside $50 last August to try out Fast Lane then. Am I greedy? I prefer the term "thrifty"; considering that I get less than $1,000 a month, it takes careful attention to my finances to have as much disposable income as I do, and I still have to sacrifice and choose between this or that, because I can't afford everything I want. And if I do create disposable income in my budget, why should I not be rewarded by being allowed to spend it however I choose to? Twelve days from now, I may choose to spend some of that money on a Fast Lane pass if the crowds are large. That's not greed; it's simply a reward for good budgeting and thrifty spending.

What Oldiesmann said. Stricker's is a great park. It's small, but plenty of fun. My trip report from last year's Customer Appreciation Day is here, if you want a little more detail.

Biggest Mental Thrill
jcgoble3 replied to countess_of_tuscany's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
My GF hates that part of the ride. I love when I ride PP with someone who has never been on it I pretend to freak out so I can scare them into thinking the boat will slide off the lift when it tilts halfway up the lift. Although I wouldn't say "scare", I'll admit that PP's tilt unsettled me a bit on my first ride. -
The old Kangaroo Lagoon, I believe.

A little digging on the Internet Archive revealed that Castaway Cove is actually Wallaby Wharf, and Aruba Tuba is Koala Splash.

Sextuplet, actually (which makes it an even poorer word choice).

Great post, Terpy! (I'd "like" it but I'm out of likes at the moment.)

I'm bored, so I decided to create this poll just for fun. How long do you think the What's next for Son of Beast? thread will be when the announcement of SOB's fate is finally made? Have fun! EDIT: fixed link

So what you're saying is that every single steel coaster out there should be considered? You should watch those double negatives.

Thanks for the tip. I still haven't decided whether I'm driving or flying to Florida, but I'm leaning toward driving. Fortunately, I have a GPS with traffic service.

Happy Birthday, Beast! (crowd chanting) Long live The Beast! Long live The Beast! Long live The Beast!

Thanks for the input, Don! Figure out a way to get it back to that price and I'll be able to double the number of trips I make to KI this year.

Agreed. I started to say that they didn't have to change that one, but then I realized that Snowy River is a major river in Australia.

http://www.visitkingsisland.com/things-to-do/soak-city-waterpark What do you think of the names? Good, bad, meh? I'm just happy they didn't go with "Tube Slide", "Body Slide", and the like.

Thanks for editing in the paragraph breaks. Great report! I especially laughed at this: Aleve in a gift shop? LOL!

My favorite is WWC because of the unknown of "how wet will I get?" That said, it's not always my first choice, which depends largely on crowds and the weather. On a cool day (i.e. temp in the 60s), the log flume is best because it won't leave you soaking wet. With the temp in the low 70s or on a late August weekday, I head for WWC for the thrill of gambling on a soaking while the line is short. Any warmer (upper 70s to 80s and above) and WWC's line gets really long, making the short line and guaranteed soaking of CF the better ride, though I'll often wait for WWC anyway, especially if I just ate and am waiting for the food to settle.

That's also on the back of all tickets and season passes.

Yes. Someone knows. jcgoble3, channeling his inner Terpy (More seriously, I would start by checking your local library. I found it at my local library—Greene County Public Library—but it's not available for checkout or through interlibrary loan.)

Same here. I often don't have anything worth saying about specific photos, but rest assured that I am enjoying each and every one. Thank you for posting them!

http://www.holidayworld.com/SuperFanFamily The winning family will be filmed riding Mammoth on Saturday, May 12, to appear on the Travel Channel's Extreme Water Parks. They will also receive a host of other prizes, including season passes for the whole family, a cabana on the day of their choice in 2012, a stay in a cabin at Lake Rudolph Campground the night before, and more. Even if you don't win, you could still be selected to attend the shoot and get free one-day tickets. Deadline to submit entries is noon CDT on Friday, April 27. Who here is going to enter?

I would love to read your report, but I can't right now because the giant walls of text are hurting my eyes. Please go back and insert some paragraph breaks; there's rarely a need for paragraphs to be more than 8 to 10 lines long (6 to 8 if you're on a widescreen display). Your report will be much easier to read once you do that.

Kings Island,Great Wolf Lodge, and Even a little Beach!
jcgoble3 replied to CoasterGeek101's topic in Trip Reports
They most likely weren't even turned on. The only time I've ever seen them on was Haunt opening night last year. -

The fences between them appear to still be there, so perhaps they're just undergoing annual maintenance somewhere else. -

Either that, or Don saw this thread and alerted KD.
