I probably miss Enchanted Voyage and The Smurfs most of all, because I realy like dark rides that move through water. No parks around here have those anymore. Thats why I'm really looking forward to going to Disney next year. I also miss the blue Smurf ice cream. It was yummy! I miss the recording studio, even though I sing professionaly today, I recorded some real bombs back in the day with my friends. I also miss the Keelboat Canal. It was so long and went back in the woods. When I was younger I always thought it would be so cool to make out with a girl on that ride......alas I never got the chance. Of course I miss King Cobra. Here,s a funny story. About 8 years ago I took my wife to PKI for the first time. She had never been to a big park before, and so had never ridden a big coaster. One of the first things we did was ride KC..........front car. She was a little freaked, and wouldn't talk to me for about a half hour. She got me back the next year though, she made me ride The Xtreme Skyflyer. I threatened her with divorce the entire time we were being hoisted up. But I really miss going to the park as a kid, or young adult. When I go now I am forced to take my kids, and am forced to spend most of my day doing what they want to do. I love the little rugrats, but ...well anybody else in my shoes knows what I mean.

Adding new track and using technology to make the ride smoother might work for awhile, but mother nature has more to do with a rougher ride than anything else. That's what makes a woodie cool. Temperature, humidity, and wind can make the ride different everytime you ride it, no matter what seat you sit in. I have complained nearly evertime I've ridden SOB, I've complained on The Racer, and I've probably even complained on The Beast. But, the thrills and adrenaline always overpower the pain.

I've never been to PKI during fear fest. Is it worth driving 3 1/2 hours? Can you still buy a 2 day admission?

I didn't know that PKI was ever inthe coaster race. When did they make this announcement?

I remember once when I was a kid I got busted for switching drivers during the middle of the Antique cars. Me a my buddy stopped, got out and switched seats, and this woman came out of nowhere, and told us we had to switch back or we would be thrown out of the park. I was traumatized! I was only about 11 or 12. I only wanted to take my turn driving........Is that so wrong!

Yes I meant TTD. I truly believe that PKI is a new major coaster (that is diiferent from anything else), and broader marketing away from taking its place on the national amusement park map. The Beast put them there 20 years ago, but nothing else the park has produced since has really drawn national attention. It would be great if Discovery or TLC would run a show about PKI. I have alot of friends out west that have never even heard of Kings Island, but they have heard of The Beast, they also saw the old Brady Bunch episode. When I gave them this imformation, they swore to a pilgrimage to PKI next year. True coaster and park enthusiasts across the nation know about PKI, but I'm not sure that the media does. I live about the same distance from PKI as I do from SF ST. Louis. There is SF advertising all over the place, but nothing for PKI. I know the difference so I only go to SF if I'm dragged there, but I go to PKI as often as possible.

I've only been to CP once, but the way I see it the only thing it has over PKI is more variety. Pki has nothing like Raptor, Demon Drop, and obviously MF and TFD, however I think the overall quality of rides at PKI is better. Although Raptor is my second favorite coaster after The Beast, that's probably the only one in my top ten. I haven't ridden TFD, and Mf might sneak in. Maybe if I visited CP as frequently as I do PKI things might change, but I doubt it. Next year I'm visiting Disney and Universal Orlando. I'm really looking forward to it, but I'm sure PKI will still be my favorite.

Wow, the memories of Enchanted Voyage are coming back to me now. I remember the arched bridge in the que area and the giant snail. I can actually remember being scared of the hill, mostly the drop(probably about 3 feet). I can't remember what kind of characters there were before the smurfs, and what the actual theme was. I also remember the pond in The Beast line area. I remember it being filled with some sort of fish. I remember spitting into it and the fish going crazy going after it. If I remember correctly, and if I'm not getting it confused with another park, I think on the train ride that cowboys and indians fought from differnet side of the track. I think I recall an old cowboy with an arrow stuck in his ass and another cowboy and a dog laughing at him.

A few years ago the Discovery Channel ranked the top ten wooden and steel coasters. The Beast came in at like 7, and the Raven at Holiday was ranked 1, even thogh it was modeled as a smaller version of The Beast. I Honestly think that The Racer is a better ride than the Raven. The Raven is a decent ride, especially for a small park like Holiday World. I haven't ridden some of the other massive woodies out there, like Shivvering Timbers, but I have ridden The Boss in SFSL and Cedar Points Mean Streak. None of them come close to The Beast. Ask any true ACEr, who has ridden it and they'll tell you the same.

As I read through every post on this topic, everytime I read about the girl in the polka-dot dress and the boy in the striped shirt, chills ran down my spine. Before I continue, I do believe in ghosts. They are remnants of the past that now exist in another dimension. Why they aren't always seen, I don't know. Maybe some peoples minds are more open to this dimension, or maybe sometimes they (ghosts) are able to slip through to our world. Anyway several years ago I made a trip to KI with a group of friends and my brother, who was blind, and also had a sort-of sixth sense. Many times he could describe his surroundings in great detail, even though he had never been there before, and his eyes were made of glass. Many times throughout the day, he would ask if there was a little girl wearing a yellow and white polka-dot dress around us. He said that he sensed that she was lost and very frightened. Here's the really freaky part. We were going up the second lift hill on The Beast, and I remember in vivid detail everything my brother said as we were going up. He said he kept seeing this boy who was smiling and laughing and having a good time, then all of a sudden he would start puking up blood in huge quantities. We laughed it off, since we had smoked alot of weed before we came to the park, but now after hearing about Tower Tommy, and the cables stored by The Beast, I am totally freaked. And I haven't smoked weed in years.
