  1. Vortex? More rough in 2013?....Maybe its just you because I thought it was very smooth last weekend...Maybe that was just me though...
  2. Firehawk is a great ride in my opinion and the loop just adds to its greatness. Some of you may consider the loop a "problem" or an "issue" but it is neither of those things and if it was than it would not be operating until the problem/issue was fixed. The loop may not be the favorite part of the ride to some of you, but that does not make it an issue or a problem. Vekoma was smart when making and designing the flying dutchman coaster.
  3. Kings Island currently has a roller coaster incorporating water. It is located in Rivertown.
  4. At this point, I'm not sure that the Kochs will have ANY interest with being "closely tied" to the Kingdom.....If Kentucky will still have a Kingdom after June 27th... (I can already see Mr. Hart walking down the Boardwalk listening to Bluegrass as he strolls away on the 28th.)
  5. Very wise words to be taken into consideration by not just some, but many.
  6. http://www.courier-journal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=%2F201306062152%2FNEWS01%2F306060074 Nice article about Kentucky Kingdom's re-opening, made by the courier-journal. "At least 75 percent of the rides are inoperable" “all facilities were stripped of anything of value, including roller coaster trains, lockers, inner tubes, parts for rides and attractions.” Roller coaster trains aren't cheap. Just as the refurbishment of Thunder Run wont be cheap..... June 27, 2013 is approaching. and May 24, 2014 is lurking around the corner...
  7. It all kind of depends.....Do you like Phantoms or Eagles?...
  8. Some of you are complaining about this being covered as a news story......Did you think that Kings Island would've rather just explained the increasing occurance of mysterious and bone-chilling screams in Action Zone?... ...I don't think so....What an evil phenomenon that would've been....
  9. Thanks for the pictures, I'm glad that someone decided to take some and actually post them. ....And to bounce a question/comment off of those photos....May 24, 2014?....
  10. Wow, thanks for posting! I always love reading stories like this. It also makes me think about all the amusement parks, small, and big, that were once housed in Ohio, those parks were one-of-a-kind and each with something different to offer.
  11. Oh what a memory!!! I grew up on Geauga Lake and worked the Dominator for a season up there. That's why I am hoping for a floorless. There are not too many around (8 in the U.S). Talk about a way to take a market and push a CP and KI combined ticket!!! At least there is one more person here whom enjoys Dominator and would like to see a floorless coaster at Kings Island. Dominator has good capacity and is a great ride. Something like Dominator would be great at Kings Island, not only to change up the coaster line-up a little but also to bring even more inversions to the park! (Or maybe I'm just saying this because Dominator is my favorite steel coaster )
  12. I didn't know that Don "tore down" anything at Kings Island. I was also unaware that he is in the process of building anything at Kings Island......These seem like new developements!
  13. At least now there is one thing we can all agree on.....It is a Field of Dreams at this point.
  14. Well...Now theres an idea of what to add to X-Base, It could even be put right next to Firehawk! (No seriousness included.)
  15. A new chapter for Kentucky Kingdom. (The article) http://coaster-net.com/news/2127-a-new-chapter-for-kentucky-kingdom/
  16. I too have a feel for the layout. Well.... This will be my first post ever on here so hopefully I don't get attacked! With that said, I have a feeling that the old SOB station might be used. The former SOB station will be used for a Haunt attraction this year and beyond. And just to think, how much fun Don is having reading our predictions that are all probably absolutely wrong.....I'm guessing he knows the layout and a blueprint could be sitting in his hands right now...Comparing it to our layout predictions....At this point he probably even called in Greg Schied to laugh with him......
  17. No, Unfortunately not from Auntie Anne's this time I just went to the closest pretzel cart....Although usually my delicious pretzels do come from Auntie Anne's !! The Dodgems are great but as for Boo Blasters....I have yet to ride that under the "snoopy" name. Many years ago, I rode it as Scooby Doo and the Haunted Castle and enjoyed it enough to get a picture with Scooby afterwards.... I even got my picture with Scooby afterwards!! A lot of people spend so much time on coasters that they never experience the flat rides and tend to walk past them.....But me, I ride them all throughout the year, from the carousel to Shake, Rattle, and Roll. HUSS rides sure can pack a good punch! (and some occasional down-time) A night ride on Firehawk is something that I have yet to do but now that you mention it, I will try it next time I visit the park, and yes, most people do head for Diamondback and The Beast at night, especially The Beast.
  18. As promised, The trip report from yesterday is here. I arrived at the park yesterday morning at about 11 a.m and didn't make it there at 10 as planned. I left my house and about 15 minutes down the road, I ended up turning around because I forgot my "sd" card for my camera which threw me off getting to the park at 10 along with stopping for breakfast. When I made it there I was not-so-happily greeted by a bus full of 2nd and 3rd graders running out in front of me and tripping me! I made my first ride of the day Vortex because I haven't got around to riding it yet this year. It was suprisingly smooth this year and the corkscrews were wonderful, worst part is always the brake run! After that I decided to swing by and ride WindSeeker a couple of times while the line was short. There was just as much wind to seek 301 ft. up as usual. I then made my way to Firehawk and was very, very suprised to see a short 45 min. wait which is great compared to the usual 2 1/2 to 3hr. wait. After Firehawk I stood in a 20 min. line for the front seat of the Worlds Longest Wooden Roller Coaster! Followed by that was a walk to the front of the park so I could get a peek of all the Action going on in the Zone. I noticed that once again, No camping was allowed, as usual. Then after conquering Delirium, which was by-far the best ride of the day, I rode Congo Falls, and then to cool off I plunged down the worlds tallest gyro drop. It was about 2:00 when I made some time to go eat, and I decided to get the usual pretzel from a pretel stand. I figured after eating that it was then time to go take care of riding the flats in Coney Mall. I rode Monster, Scrambler, Zephyr, the Dodgems, and Shake, Rattle, and Roll. They were all great as usual. I wanted to ride Viking Fury before leaving Kings Island too so I rode it 3 times, One of which was with a kind older gentleman from Greenwood IN, we had a good little talk. Before I left the park at 6:30, I made sure to ride WindSeeker one more time along with some of the flats again. My day ended with spending money in the souvenir shops.....As always Overall, The longest I waited was for Firehawk as previously mentioned, and the crowds were not bad at all. It was a Very good Friday to visit the park, to say the least. .......And the pictures......I couldn't take any because I had the wrong "sd" card for my camera!
  19. So in other words, It sounds like Terpy went "keyholing" on Wednesday....Was it what you expected?
  20. After being at the park yesterday, and seeing the construction area from many different perspectives, I can that this is my opinion of part of the layout, The roller coaster will dip into the valley of the area of the first drop and lift hill of SOB. There were footers being installed on top of the hill which leads me to believe that the coaster will continue down the hill in some manner and proceed into the "valley".... (Just my opinion on part of the layout.)
  21. Seems like there was a few of us there then! We probablly saw each other a few times but wouldn't have known it
  22. I was at the park all day today, crowds were not bad at all, the lines were not long at all, Trip report coming tomorrow.
  23. Well, 40% chance of rain doesn't sound too bad and remember, especially having Fast Lane for the day, to get a few rides in on the worlds longest wooden roller coaster. If it does start raining, the best place to go is to Diamondback not only because some people wont stand in the line while its raining but also because Diamondback is a very extreme ride in rain, or downpour for that matter
  24. Great trip report! I always love seeing your pictures. On a side note, You must have very good memory about what exact time you do things!
