^Thanks. Jubilee Odyssey at Fantasy Island looks pretty cool.

I have a question about SLC's. Are they all the same design? Seems like I've seen a few pictured and they all look identical to me.
-
Interpreter, I didn't know about the glasses deal at Knott's. You would think that CF's rules would be the same across the chain, with maybe hours of operation being the exception.

If we had to change the name of PKIC..
KIBeast replied to BoddaH1994's topic in KICentral Footnotes & Small News
I voted for KICentral. Seems to be more like pkicentral. It really wouldn't matter to me. Just as long as this great community keeps going. -
It's not bullcrap. I rode it about 4-5 times without any banging. Let's just say that we've had two different experiences. Jzarley, the only reason I asked if you had ridden it was because many people form their opinions based off what others have said instead of experiencing it for themselves. To me, that's like not going to see a movie because someone said it was bad. I'll make that determination for myself.

I guess I was missing the point too. It is very true that The Bat would be tame compared to today's mega coasters. It now would be considered in the same category as Iron Dragon...a intermediate coaster. Also, I remember the Cabbage Patch craze too. Everyone had to have one. I remember one christmas, I was at this huge toy store and I literally saw grown women fighting over the Cabbage Patch Kids dolls.
-
That is true enough, Shaggy. It is not a fair comparison. The circuit for The Bat was pretty crazy with many wild turns which swung the cars out very violently and quickly. This is what made The Bat exciting, not the speed. I think that is what makes Top Gun fun. The banks and the swinging...not the speed of the ride. Not only that, IJ:ST isn't exactly fast by any stretch of the imagination.

The 4 year old boy who died on Mission Space had been checked only a few months before his death and the doctor at the time did not find the defect. As far as the parents knew he was healthy. The 49 year old German woman had VERY high blood pressure. I can't remember if she knew or not but I think she did. The death on Rock n Roller coaster is still under investigation. I suspect it will be similar to the boy on Mission Space and will be linked to an undiagnosed heart condition. Kenban, there has been a test that proves that there was some kind of congenital heart defect. I think there is still an autopsy to be done, but they do know there was a heart problem for sure.
-
^Have you been on Thunderhawk? It does not bang at all. It's a pretty intense little coaster. Nice pics, Kenban.
-
I didn't think that it was painful. Just not very exciting.
-
You mean unknown heart problems. The Mission:Space and Rock-n-Rollerocaster deaths were unknown heart problems, not known.

HA! Shows how much you know.... The pictures were actually taken after everyone got off and were then ushered into another room to sit in rows and smile to make it look like they actually enjoyed the ride. ROFL!

Are we talking newsletters that are mailed out or e-mailed? If it's e-mailed, then I do believe that most CF parks have some sort of newsletter. I know for sure that CP and GL both have electronic newsletters.

Even though I have been on Face/Off many times, the part that really frightens me most is the backwards lift up the hill. Reclaimer is right, though. If for some reason the restraint fails, there's the seatbelt to keep you from falling out. I promise you that you will enjoy F/O. I didn't think that a coaster that compact could be much of a thrill. Boy, was I ever wrong!

Coasters Out...Family Fun...IN
KIBeast replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
^But they have 68 rides, 16 killer coasters, and top notch, award-winning shows. What else can they do? Other than a parade? I admit, they do need to work on their kids' areas as they are terrible. -
Coasters Out...Family Fun...IN
KIBeast replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
So, wooferbear, what do you suggest Cedar Fair do? Turn CP into a more family friendly park like KI (which they already own)and have a clone further up north? Or, are you referring to all CF parks? You don't want KI and CP to be too much alike or you will have two parks competing for the exact same business. Not smart. -
I don't know about this year, but last year I thought that PKI had surpassed CP on employee friendliness. I used to think that CP was tops and now it seems that they are slipping a little. Still haven't made it this year, but will be going soon.

I have to agree with you on this one. CF is going to have to do something other than a water park to attract the crowds. If they don't receive anything else until they do better, we may be waiting a very long time. Anyone know that the GL numbers have been so far? If so, any improvement from last year? Kenban, sorry to hear you had a lousy time. I went last year and had a great time. I was able to ride everything a few times and still managed to leave early. I only wish that I had taken swim trunks to try out the new water park. I loved X Flight, Headspin, Thunderhawk, Dominator, Villain, Raging Wolf Bobs, Texas Twister, Time Warp. I did not care for the Big Dipper. That one made my back hurt. Maybe there is a better seat to ride than the very back? Now that Mr. Hyde's Nasty Fall is gone, maybe CF will install a better Drop Tower type of ride. I also think that they need to do something with the old hurricane hannah section. A nice collection of flats could go in there. I do think that there should be some kind of show, other than the lumberjacks, that they could do with that stadium. It's way too nice to just use ocassionally.

Signed, Sealed, and Delivered!
KIBeast replied to The Interpreter's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
So, who won the bet in the other thread about the time that the deal would close? Next question for me is, will PKICentral be renamed? And, if so, when? After the season ends? -
eejanaika - S&S 4th Dimension Coaster
KIBeast replied to KIBeast's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I think that it flips and has more inversions than X. Guiness has recognized it as having the most inversions, but they are counting the seat flips as well. I don't think that the seats flipping should be counted as I don't see them as true inversions. To me, an inversion is when the track itself inverts with the riders and not just the seat. -
I kinda remember that Native American. The auction said it was on the safari ride, but I was thinking more like the train ride. Anyone know for sure?
-
^I figured it had been a long time. The novelty has worn off and there isn't really anything new that you can do with that style.

Cedar Fair gets Antitrust Approval for Acquisition
KIBeast replied to CoastersRZ's topic in Kings Island
Their is not that much room for Corkscrew in the Days of Tunder area unless they use whats left of King Cobras land. I think Klockster was being sarcastic. He was referring to an earlier thread that CP would send Corkscrew to KI. Guess we'll all have to start using the winking smilie since no one seems to be able to detect sarcasm. -
For those interested...I got the link from Screamscape, believe it or not, and it has a promo video for Eejanaika. Looks like it is scheduled to open July 19th, 2006. Here's to hoping that S&S has worked out the bugs since X. eejanaika 4D coaster Just click on the special movie button to view the promo vid. If you have a pop-up blocker, you will need to temporarily disable it. Personally, I think this coaster looks really cool. If this becomes a reliable design for them, I wouldn't mind seeing one at PKI or CP.

There really wasn't any point in adding stand up to the list. There are kinda a thing of the past. Not to say there aren't any out there, but when was the last one installed? I voted inverted, but I like the floorless experience as well. Only been on one, Dominator at Geauga Lake. It really moves fast and has a killer ending with the interlocking corkscrews and helice.
