It's definitely going to be an Intamin, without a doubt. B&M looks NOTHING like Intamin track. I thought that was already established information. There is speculation over at Pointbuzz that this may be another new prototype of attraction. I can't wait to see what they are up to. -
I haven't been on the boards a lot lately, so I'm not aware of all the bashing. Nor am I going to look for it. I love PKI and have since I was a kid and began attending the year it opened. My only real complaints about the parks' changes over the years was the period where they removed a lot of flat rides and never replaced them with anything. I still enjoy a good slice of La Rosa's pizza since there isn't one anywhere near me. Yeah, the food is a little costly, but, they have to overcharge on food to help in the paying for of new attractions and maintaining the ones that they have. The gate price alone will not pay for new rides.

I am surprised that people still don't know what this new ride is going to be. It's going to be a water coaster of some type. In a previous article over at Pointbuzz, CP officials mention that the year that maXair was installed was originally going to be the year that they added a new water attraction. It was moved back a couple of years after officials at CP saw Delirium and how popular it is. -
Sounds good, AZKindaGuy. I will be at the Point on June 25th-27th. Can't wait to try out Skyhawk. I'll probably have to give maXair a spin since I like Duhlee so much.
-
I'm sure if there was any huge mechanical reason that they would have to close it for an indefinite amount of time, the park would say something about it...like when Delirium went down for a while last year.

^I think that the fence and all is a clear sign that FOF at PKD is out the door. I didn't think that there was any doubt at this point. Anyway, sounds like PKI's might be next. The main reason that this bugs me is that they continue to remove rides that aren't necessarily a maintenance headache and replacing them with something else when clearly they can expand without removing anything.

I heard a rumor a few years ago that PKIC was going to be the best non-official PKI web site ever! Guess that one actually came true!
-
AZKindaGuy, love the first post. Although, I have felt this way about IJ since before it was even built. I knew it was going to be a real snoozer, except to the kids 10 and under. And, for those who don't get a boner over a coaster, maybe you should find out what's wrong with you!
-
^To add to that, with the plug and play track, they can remove entires sections at a time to replace wood as opposed to going in and doing it small sections at a time. El Toro will probably be a very smooth, wooden coaster.

The Bat was the best suspended coaster ever! Great themed trains and wild swinging. It didn't need to move more than 35mph...it was quite thrilling as it was.
-
To answer you TopGun, no, the train is not too long. Which coaster is that? Geauga Lake has a similar coaster and when the back of the train crests the first hill, the front of the train is nearly at the bottom of the hill. I think that there is enough weight to keep it going around the circuit. Hope that helps explain a little.

But, tggr, I read this from another web site and maybe it doesn't say so now, but they did try to make it seem like they were some kind of official safety organization and had done some research outside of asking people's opinions. That is where the problem lies.

I've seen the Sky Swatter and it looks pretty intense.

I'm whinging? Funny, but everything you said is true. PKI has said it over the last five or six years and are still saying it.......they are going to focus on the total family experience. So, now, cry me a river, build a bridge, and get over it.
-
Just to clear this up - that web site is a bunch of nonsense and I don't think too many people take it seriously.
-
Are you sure it says what you think it says? I only ask this because I saw this guy on tv who got some Japanese tatoo on his arm and he thought it meant strength. Turns out, the tatoo artist tricked him and put something rude on his arm. He found out, I think, a few years later, went back to the tatoo artist, and he was not to be found. I also saw over on pointbuzz, some woman got a Millennium Force tatoo on her shoulder blade. It was just the M.

^It depends. If you are referring to the original paint scheme, then no. If you are talking as of lately, then yes. By the way, anyone that defaces others' property, in an amusement park or elsewhere, sucks.

I've been on rougher coasters. Big Dipper at GL literally jackhammered my back. Didn't have that problem on SOB.
-
Yes, there will be another 4D coaster. As was stated above, S&S has made great improvements to the design and are ready to try it again. Part of the reason X has so many problems is Six Flags really pushed them to complete the design when it really wasn't ready. Also, my understanding is that X is not broken down all that much any more and it is not closed on Wednesdays all day any more for maintenance.

Actuallty, KC's trains might not have cost 1 mil., but these days, the trains for most coasters are around the 1 million mark. I know that Millennium Force, Top Thrill Dragster, Wicked Twister's trains all cost a million a piece. That's about the average price these days. I believe that the cost is one of the main reasons that MF's trains will not be replaced to accomodate larger riders.
-
^And, I find that the improvements are making it better each season that goes by. Part of the problem for SOB IS the trains. Wayyyyyy too much shuffling going on with the cars.

I think this new freefall ride sounds pretty good. Here's the link from coasterbuzz. S&S Sonic Boom Freefall On the coasterbuzz page, there is a link to some pics of this new ride.
