I say bring back the smurfs! My fav was jokey because even though every smurf knew his packages would explode, he managed to get them to open them every time.

I think that it would be a cool idea to put something up there like what is on the stratosphere. I imagine that it would scare the hell out of me.

" There going to turn it into THE PARKING LOT!!! This one of a kind ride will deliver various speeds of excitement and Thrills!!!! It cost 8 dallors though! " Freakin' hilarious!

PKI to host "Italian Job: Stunt Track" const. tour
KIBeast replied to Shaggy's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
Although this is a cool thing for them to do, I can think of a million other things to do besides look at a bunch of dirt. -
"I always said PKI was better than PKD but CP is just a thrill seeker place and not a family place. " Have you ever been to Cedar Point? There is plenty to do for the younger crowd. There are two junior coasters, plenty of flat rides, shows, and Soak City for the kids to enjoy. Granted, it's not as nice as PKI's, but there is a lot of stuff for the kiddies to do.

Don't use the word change, Scooby. People on this board have a hard time dealing with that concept *cough**scooters**cough*.

Those would be two excellent spots for new rides.

From what I have read, PCW's attendance did not really jump up 30%. Apparently, some of the attendance figures were reported incorrectly, hence huge jump in attendance.
-
Actually, I don't think PCW's jump in attendance was truly that high. I have read elsewhere that figures from some of the parks were reported incorrectly in 2003 which affected the attendance figures for 2004, hence the huge jump. On a side note, I'd like to know where all this shade supposedly is at PKI. It must be anywhere but ride queues cause there's none there except Delirium.

Geauga Lake to Make announcement 10 Nov.
KIBeast replied to familyman's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Yeah, I said may become. I still don't believe that they did it to keep someone else from buying it. That may have been one very small part of buying it, but the big picture is $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. -
Geauga Lake to Make announcement 10 Nov.

Klockster, no one is going to buy a park to keep someone else from obtaining it. They are in the biz to make money, not enemies. They bought it becuase they see the potential it has and obtained it for a really reasonable price. GL may become the park that CF attempts to compete with PKI for families. -
I would be happy with any aerial shots of PKI in the offseason. I am grateful that you are willing to do this and post them here at PKICentral.

But, snapper, Geauga Lake is really not in competition with Cedar Point. Geauga Lake is a family park and Cedar Point is a thrill park.

One, I don't think that Reptar is long enough to add another train and the idea of a second train on Face/Off would not be cost effective nor very plausible. Where do you get your hair-brained ideas? Italian Job's lines will only be that long in the opening year and it's pretty typical for a new coaster to have waits that are 4-5 hrs. Did someone have a big bowl of ****y o's for breakfast?

Um, what crew are you referring to? And, I know I never said anything about monkeys. Maybe the theming will go downhill after a couple of years, but not immediately like you seem to think. And no, I don't think it will have tons of problems. The only real problem I forsee is a timing of the effects with the coaster. I seriously doubt the effects will go bad right from the start. Not to mention that the coaster itself will be highly reliable. Premier has a pretty good reputation. AZ Kinda Guy: I would like to check out Hydra myself.

Dude, I'm not up PKI's butt. I actually prefer Cedar Point over PKI, at least for now. And, you're talking about reliability before it is even built. And, then you add that the Raptor doesn't break down. When you make comments like these, you have to expect someone to call you out on it.

Lucky you! Were you responding to my back surgery post? That was in another thread. I got confused. Anyway, I am pretty good now except for the fact that I'll have to live with some minor back discomfort for the rest of my life. Sometimes, I really get down in my back; especially when it is raining, or gets cold, or a shift in the weather from one extreme to the other. There are times when I have to leave work and just lay down for the rest of the day. But, with the good Lord willin' and the creek don't rise, I am back riding coasters and cherishing every moment because one day, it might come to the point when I can't ride any more. So, I am starting a new quest. To try and visit as many amusement parks as I can as long as I have the money and good health to do so. So far, I've only been to PKI, CP, and Camden Park (local). Next summer, I hope to go to Geauga Lake, Hersheypark, and maybe PKD. PKD is really the one I am wanting to go to because they have a diverse collection of coasters that I've never tried. Sorry, but my whole post was

Snapper, you're an idiot. "Its was a dumb decision to instal IJST bc its not going to be reliable. There much better off getting a small intense B&M thats small becasue whens the last time you went to Cedar Point and Raptor was down due to mechanical problems????" Last year Raptor had problems. Every coaster has down time every year. Maybe not extended down time, but down time none the less. The only part of IJ:ST that may become unreliable would be the effects, not the coaster itself. Premier coasters are highly reliable.

Snapper officially has my vote to be added to Aaron's Idiot List.

My favorite memory is of a trip I took with my brother and two uncles this year...it was like old times. Back in the day, before Paramount, we used to take a trip every summer together to KI. Going with my uncles was always an adventure. After about five or six years, I underwent back surgery for scoliosis (sp?) and was not allowed to ride coasters for about five or six years . Finally, one day I called the doctor who performed my surgery and asked if it was ok to ride again. The only thing he could tell me was, "If you ride and it hurts, don't ever do it again. If it doesn't hurt, I guess you're ok." Thank God that I took a spin on The Beast and nothing hurt. I don't know what I would have done without coasters...I guess I would have had to get another hobby.

I respect that Scooby. I agree that originally, Halloween was an evil type of holiday, but you have to admit that it is a shadow of its' former self. Halloween is not even really celebrated for the same reasons as it used to be. Kind of like Christmas; it's mostly a commercial racquet except for those who are religious.

Geauga Lake to Make announcement 10 Nov.
KIBeast replied to familyman's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
"I think they bought it to keep other parks from getting it and if it don't make them money they will close it." Now that is really stupid. You don't buy a park to keep someone else from acquiring it. They are in the business to make money, not lose money. If they didn't think they could turn it around, they would not have purchased it in the first place. -
"It's not pki that makes these decisions, it's the paramount company itself. Trust me, if pki was to make the decision to rip out the scooters, they most likely wouldnt- because of all of the dedicated fans of the ride. They did what they had to do, because the head honcho somewhere in Viacom wanted the scooters someplace else." I highly doubt anyone at the Paramount company knows enough to decide what ride will be installed or removed. That's why they have a team of execs at PKI...to make those decisions. The only thing the Paramount company would do itself is decide how much will be spent in capital investments at all of their parks.
-
Trust me, I'm not knocking IJ:ST. I just get sick of hearing all these people saying that there's no way that PKI will ever build a large coaster. I want to know how exaclty they know this since they do not work at PKI in ride development/planning? Or, are not even privy to that kind of information. I believe I heard it best over at Coasterbuzz...Those that know, don't talk, those who talk, don't know.
