  1. I don't think KI needs another wood coaster. My choice would be steel hyper, inverted, or floorless.

^Hey, thanks for the update on Undertaker. Hope his health gets better. Tell him his fans miss him and we hope things improve.

Well, I wish him all the best! Maybe he'll return, maybe not. Either way, HH kicks FF's butt!
  4. Zodiac was indeed fun! It used to really scare me. It's kinda funny. I can take a coaster that goes 400ft. in the air, but I can't stand skyline type rides or ferris wheels. They just freak me out.
  5. It is definitely worth it, Ryan. That is a fun haunted house. Not scary, but fun. I didn't read the article, but isn't it one of the only gravity driven haunted houses left? I think that's what I remember. That, and the fact that it was nearly considered a coaster due to the chain lift or something of that nature.
  6. If the event possibly becomes an upcharge? It will be an upcharge in 2008. Ryan mentioned the possibility, but that has not been 100 percent announced or confirmed, as hauntguy said lol. We're back on topic now, and if anyone is gonna question the original poster, any other poster in this topic, or chime in their opinions, the least you can do is read the entire topic to get a feel for the context and subject being discussed. The problem was not the crowds, he expected that he said. He said he had a problem with how the crowds were handled and regulated and wished it had been done in a similar fashion to Knott's event which is what they're trying to model KI's after in a few ways. I did read his entire post and the entire thread. No one was saying he was an idiot. No one was questioning if he was a newbie to the industry or HH. Yeah, he said he expected busy crowds. But, he also stated he thought it was gonna be just like HH at KBF. Being in the biz as he says he has been, he should full well know that HH at KI was not going to be on par with KBF considering this is the first year for HH at KI and KBF's has been going on nearly as long as KI has been in existence. I feel for him that he had a bad experience. I've had them too and voiced them in the past. That's all fine and dandy and you'll notice that Ryan even stated that we were not attacking him personally, but ACE and the GT Awards in general.
  7. ^^^I didn't read in any of the posts where anyone questioned him being any kind of park expert until he whipped out the GT awards and ACE membership. Most people asked him a simple question like why he didn't expect the crowds to be insane on a Saturday. Not to mention that hidden agenda said ."There will always be some things that cannot be controlled. " Jackson took that as an isult to his intelligence, therefore, he needed to whip out the ACE and GT awards credentials. He only set himself up to be flamed every post after that.
  8. It is a Saturday night and getting closer to Halloween, what do you expect? I think everything was handled nicely. I think everyone worked as hard as they could to provide each and every person with a great experience. There will always be some things that cannot be controlled. A+ for this weekend. I am not a stupid person. If you don't think they could have controlled telling me where to stand to be let in to the Fright Feast, I am really confused. There was a sign that said to wait right there for the dinner. It just happened to be on the complete wrong side of the restaurant. I guess that is totally my fault? Someone who worked there should have known this and directed us to the proper side. Also, I don't suppose you think they could have "controlled" directing me to the Gold Pass parking when I paid for "preferred" parking. Just so you know, the Gold Pass parking is further out than the preferred parking. There is absolutely no excuse for the parking lot attendant that works there to direct me to a lot that is further out, when there were plenty of spots in the lot that we paid for. I have been going to King's Island since Taft owned it in the 70s. I was just stating that I had a bad trip. These 2 things, if nothing else, could have been controlled. Please don't think I am ignorant about events at Theme Parks. I am asked annually to submit a ballot to Amusement Today's Golden Ticket Awards. What this means to most people is that I am considered an expert on most aspects of theme park operations. It also means that I get to vote on best rides, staff, and events at parks for each year. What I expected is something that truly lived up to the name "Halloween Haunt". I have been to "Halloween Haunt" at Knott's Berry Farm on SOLD OUT nights on more than one occasion. I was able to do all the mazes each time I went to their event. They have more mazes than King's Island. The main reason is the way they control the crowd. I would love for someone to explain to me how I can do all the mazes at Knott's, but only 2 at King's Island. I fully expected it to be busy, but Knott's has it down to an art. I have already stated that the event has great potential, I just think it may take some time to get things flowing smoothly. This is where you went wrong. You accused them of calling or thinking you are stupid when in fact, all that they did was point out the obvious that Saturdays are extremely busy not to mention the crowds have been larger than at FF. And, you also expected it to be on par with HH at KBF when their HH has been going on since KI was born. Of course they will have to work out some of the bugs considering this is CF's first HH for KI.
  9. And here we go again, flaunting more credentials. We know nothing, you know everything. Now the world can go back to usual business. It's not like ACE is this huge, world-wide recoginized group. It's known for loudmouth enthusiasts who think my opinion means spit while everything they say is GOLDEN! Sorry, got now love for ACErs Post your report over on Coasterbuzz with credentials left in and see just how quickly you will need a flame retardent suit. It's not just this site.
  10. This should be an awesome addition for KD. Kinda sorry they didn't change the name as I think it's horible. But, who cares what the name is as long as it delivers like at Geauga Lake. I've been on it several times and KD should be very pleased that they are receiving this coaster. Color me jealous.
  11. Sorry, but I am agreeing with everything tggr said. I mean, coming in and flaunting credentials will probably accomplish nothing except you getting severly flamed. I don't have much respect for ACE nor do I think the Golden Ticket Awards are anything to be screaming about either. I have read on many coaster sites how ACErs just love to flaunt their knowledge while standing in line for a ride by people who couldn't care less. Then, they whip out their ACE card so they can "prove" that they know more than anyone else. I'm sure not all Acers are like this, but it seems to be the image that the club is projecting. We know it all, you know nothing.
  12. I thought Time Warp was ok. I just kept hearing that song from Rocky Horror Picture Show in my head.
  13. It's funny how policies change. I can remember way back in the day when rain wasn't really considered an issue, only lightning. I've had many rainy rides on The Beast. Of course, everything changes, especially in this litigious time. It reminds me of these new "booster" seats for young children. When I grew up, there were only the belts.
  14. ^^Which is exactly why I think DD will be sold and not re-located.
  15. Why don't we all agree just to call them footies. Anyhoo, I agree that CP most likely won't be building into the lake. I seriously doubt that Demon Drop is coming to Kings Island. Obviously, CF is not interested in re-locating DD to any of their parks, otherwise, it would already be done. Is it true that the maintenance is a nightmare on the first generation freefalls?
  16. ^So, what you're saying is, we should burn down Geauga Lake?
  17. What's really funny is, the male friend that I took Saturday informed me of many things to come for KI. Before I post it, note that he has taken every rumor and regurgitated them. He said," The Vortex will not be in operation next year since it is sinking. He also said that The Vortex was still the old Bat, just with new trains. I kept my mouth shut and after we separated from them, I told my wife the truth about everything he said. I just think it's hilarious that the sinking rumor started at CP about Magnum XL200 and somehow this problem moved to another park and coaster.
  18. There is an old saying: Take a piece of crap. Polish it up nice and shiney. What do you have in the end? A piece of crap. Maintenance could not have found the issues with SoB. Unless they were expected to a test on each verticle support everyday, which would have made the ride stay SBNO more than it already has. No, you have a shiny piece of crap! There is absolutely no reason to change anything about SOB now. The new trains are awesome and it isn't half as bumpy as it used to be. Although, I did disagree with someone on here about needing a third train and after Saturday, I would now say that it does need three.

I am with a local company called Ntelos. Actually, what they are sending is not really a replacement per se, but my old service was under my mother's name. She bought a cell and didn't use it, so I took over. Now, I am signing up for new service under my name and a razor is being sent to me for $30.00 overnight. And, I just have to pay one month in advance. Quick question...anyone know what happened to Undertaker's return? And, wasn't he supposed to be in some commercials as well?
  20. The On Point blog mentioned the other day that they were busy as beavers. Is that a possible clue to the Beaver Land Mine Ride coaster being moved to CP? Stay tuned for more details.
  21. I have two questions: 1)Where were all of these people when GL needed attendance? 2)Why weren't the people who did attend singing the praises of GL to their friends and family? I realize that they spend money on advertising, but, I always spread the good word about KI and CP to family and friends. Marketing goes a long way, but word of mouth is a very good way to get people talking about a park that some may not even know exists.

Thanks, Coach Bombay! It must have been the kicker tire that I noticed. It just felt like we slowed down a little right before the drop. Yeah, I'll keep you informed of the cell situation. The great thing is, I called my service provider and a replacement is on the way.

So, my wife and I decided to go to KI with another couple thinking it would be more fun. However, I couldn’t have been more wrong. I like them and all, but, anything that had a line to it (which is virtually anything), they didn’t want to wait. We arrived around 11:30a and were in at noon. We went to Firehawk first and waited about ten minutes. A great coaster and I love its’ location better than where it was at Geauga Lake. My wife had never been on it or any flying coaster and she absolutely loved it. Next, we walked over to Flight of Fear. We were in line when I reached into my pocket and noticed my cell phone was gone. Obviously, a victim of the cell phone eater known as Firehawk. I say cell phone eater because I remember when my brother and I rode it at GL, there were many other cells that had come to meet the same fate as mine had. I could have let it ruin my day, but, I filled out a report and went on with my day. FOF was awesome as always, except for the face that the MCBR was on and really ruined what was great pacing. Next, we went to check the line for The Vortex, which was out to the end of the gate. If I’m not mistaken, it’s only about a 20 min. wait from there. Well, my friends didn’t want to wait, so we went over to Shake, Rattle, & Roll. No wait. I haven’t been on this ride for years and I had truly forgotten just how fun it can be. It was given a thumbs up by all of us. Next, we went over to The Beast. About a 10 minute wait. This ride, after all these years, still kicks my butt…in a good way. Just as thrilling as ever! Next, I wanted to make my way toward the front of the park to ride Son of Beast because after that, we planned on leaving to go check in to the Motel 6 about 10 minutes away. Much to my dismay, the other two wanted to just go ahead and leave without riding any more. So, since it was their car, there wasn’t much I could do. The Motel 6 was the most God awful hotel I have ever been in. I thought Travelodge near Cedar Point was bad, this took the cake. We went to our room (a smoking room) only to find no ash trays, burn marks on the floor of the bathroom not to mention the bathtub. Also, we reserved for four people and were given a bath towel, a hand towel and a bath mat. Are you serious? Four people are supposed to share one towel? I trekked over to the main desk to get more towels. The air conditioner cover was hanging about half way off, but at least it worked. So, then we headed back to make it back in before our 7pm curfew. At that point, I decided it would be best if the four of us just split up for a while. My wife and the two of them had phones, so no problema. At that point, we went directly for Son of Beast. We waited for about an hour. It seemed they were doing a pretty good job of cycling people. My wife also had never been on SOB. She has been many times, but it has always been closed when she was there. Did I mention it was her first ride? And, that by the time we boarded, it was dark out. I teased her because I said, it’s your first time and in the dark? You won’t even know what’s coming. So, we boarded the back seat in the front car, front of the train. We drop out of the station and that got a little squeal out of her, which I thought was cute. We started up the hill and about ¾ the way up there, she was like, OMG, this coaster is huge! I said, yeah, but you’ve been on bigger like Dragster and Millennium Force. That was no consolation to her. She really got scared when we were off the chain and heading toward that first huge drop. Just a quick question. It’s been a couple of years since riding SOB, but, was the trim brake always there on the first drop? I don’t remember it being there, but that certainly doesn’t mean anything. So, she really liked SOB and I loved it. I couldn’t believe how much better of a ride it is with those new trains. I did miss the loop a tad, but the smoother ride was worth the trade-off. I always used to complain about the cars shuffling back and forth, but I only noticed any shuffling before the first drop and after the lift. The Rose Bowl and other helice was smooth as butter. I like the new track, but I would like to see a tunnel placed there. After that, we went & rode Vortex. 15 minute wait and still an awesome coaster. Favorite seat = back seat. I just love the way you are whipped around in the back. Next, we went back up front to get in line for Club Blood. Wound up waiting for an hour and a half, but it was worth it. A couple of people scared me, but they mostly terrified my wife, much to my pleasure. I do have one spoiler, so don’t read this if you don’t want to know, but I thought it was brilliant. The rest of the TR is in the next paragraph. They had a guy in a corner connected to a bungee set up and he lunged out at you, which I thought was pretty original. He definitely caught me off guard. We then hooked up with our friends, did a little shopping, then went to Motel Hell. I called KI the next day to check on my cell. I thought I should at least try before I drove three hours back home. They were very nice and informed me that if it was found, it would be shipped back to me, free of charge. Very nice. Well, my wife and I talked about our trip after we got home and decided we would never take another trip with those friends of ours. On a side note, I thought Halloween Haunt was twice as busy as Fearfest.
  24. Just rode SOB on Saturday. This is the first time for me with the new trains. All I can say is wow! Wish they would have done that sooner! That was by far the best ride I've had on it. Yeah, I kinda missed the loop, but it was well worth the trade off. Now, it could really use a tunnel where the old loop was. Trip Report coming.
