Is it done on purpose or is it for reasons such as licensing? Do you have inside info? Nothing but music gets buried when you add more songs into the mix. Daily guests who don't know what to expect from the playlist would not complain that they didn't hear (insert a particular song here). Who claimed the music was bad? I personally mentioned that I personally find a lot of it uninteresting. Some annoying. "Bad" is vague here. People have varied tastes; I like some songs that most people don't and vice versa. Fortunately, I haven't come across anything obscene. That said, if the music was targeted at the majority of the guest population, one might expect more mainstream music. If the ads are carefully chosen, in my opinion, they're doing it way wrong. GameFly in particular is a huge contrast from the chain's previous message of getting people to put down the controller and come enjoy the park. Now that you're in the park, they're telling you to go back to that couch and pick the controller back up. FunTV can be used to get guests to put away smartphones and engage more in the crowd atmosphere of the queue. Some of the park trivia already does this; guests who don't even know each other discuss the questions. The sports/news section doesn't really do that. You can get all that.. on your phone. Maybe mix in less of that and more of things like Cash Coaster. That gets guests paying more attention to the content and less to their phones. It's only the second year of FunTV and one team at KI has a lot of parks to build out. By no means is the current content set perfect. It's alright for what it is, but I'm sure even the team knows that there is a lot they can do to improve, given the time.

In any of my previous employment, I have never been made aware of such a policy.

Oh no! I hope everyone is okay.

Those who said force are those who said that the child would have no choice, that they would be taken to the ride and made to ride without any permission to exert free will. Many posters clearly made it sound like force was utilized, or at least attempted to be utilized before being thwarted by ride ops. Alas, that's my interpretation based on the anecdotes provided herein.

That may well be but I'd call to confirm because it's listed on Cedar Point's site, even the reservation system, as a platinum rate. That rate also isn't supposed to include early entry or parking as it's included with a platinum pass. Edit: I just double-checked on the reservation system. For Hotel Breakers, it clearly lists "Pass - Platinum Pass Holder Rate" yet it shows "Rate valid with 2015 Platinum/Season Pass only" in the fine print. Breakers Express just says "Pass - Season/Platinum Pass Rate". Yay, inconsistencies on the site..

The Cedar Point resort discount perk is available to all platinum passholders and only to platinum passholders. Kings Island gold or silver passes are not recognized there, nor are Cedar Point season passes and anything else that isn't platinum.

My point was that it's not just from one day to the next. Even with a one-day visit, it gets old fast hearing the same uninteresting music and the same annoying commercials.
-
Sometimes, that reason is cost.

1) One can be a fan of Kings Island without being a fan of every action the park has ever taken. 2) It's rather difficult to compare the two. 2a) In KK's case, they marketed a ride with an availability date that has continuously slipped. People are now interested in going to ride the ride, and yet they are repeatedly denied the opportunity. 2b) KI, on the other hand, simply did not have plans to announce regarding a ride that was clearly marketed as closed indefinitely. They were very clear that the ride was closed until they knew what they were going to do with it. When they had a final decision, did they not clearly convey it to the public?

For some? Very, very hard. For others, not so much. Example? On Wednesday, storms knocked the power out around 2:30p. DTE Energy provided an estimated restoration time of 11:30p - 1:30a. It was back on hours before then, if I recall correctly. After power was restored, our Comcast cable service went out. Their estimated restoration? 10 pm. Calling back around that time yielded a response to check back in 24 hours. In other words, they'll get to it eventually. Eventually it was.. 12m-1a on Thursday. DTE is doing it right. Comcast.. Well, need I explain?

Personally, I've only spent a couple of days in the park so far this year. As I find much of the content uninteresting (obscure songs I've never heard of and don't catch my attention, ads, etc.), I hardly am paying much attention to the screens. Yet, over and over, I found myself annoyed at the same ad playing over and over. The same song. And, note that you don't have to pay any attention to the screens when the audio is piped in all around you. For some, it's hard to ignore loud speakers.

You're just gonna coast in here with that word choice and expect us not to read into it?

As I'm sure Terpy knows, all of the cameras and the wireless access points for Banshee's attempt at an on-ride video system were removed. The network wiring with associated conduit and junction boxes remain, however. From the load side facing the queue, there's an AP for KIGuestWiFi on the far left corner that reused one of these ports. This has been your random park trivia for the day.

I still have yet to get on Maverick this season to try out the new shoulder harnesses. *sigh*

^ I thought that was the off-season.

Four Children Injured on Carnival Ride
jsus replied to milesharrison's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
For me, it's not so much the disassembling and reassembling. It's more so that it isn't treated like an amusement park's off-season maintenance. There, everything is stripped down, inspected, and repaired as necessary. From my understanding, carnivals do not do that with their rides. They just kinda tear them down and rebuild, hopefully with an inspection at the end. Plus, the traveling nature of them makes it feel like a fly-by-night operation that isn't nearly as accountable to the communities they operate in. They'll just set up shop somewhere else and, chances are, no one will know of an accident at the last location. -
^^ If I could average 40mpg, and assuming the $2.679/gal at my usual station, the ~260 mi round trip to Cedar Point would cost $17.4135 in gas alone. That doesn't include the cost to own and operate the vehicle or the ~5 hours spent driving there. Somehow, I don't think it's worth stopping by just for food. Throw in a few rides, maybe a ride night, and now we're talking. Speaking of which, tonight is a Platinum Passholder ride night on Raptor. Dinner? Oh, but think about the budget.

... when posters are out in the park rather than posting on forums.

Should we start referring to him as Dr. Hart?

Do you mean this? http://blog.universalorlando.com/whats-new/volcano-bay-announcement

From my limited time at SFMM and what I've seen online, aggressive isn't, er, aggressive enough to describe SFEN's advertising. This poster is not a fan. He's a human who despises such levels of advertising.

That's about what I expected upon seeing the new electrical and network infrastructure up there. Hopefully it's not too annoying and perhaps different than the queue feeds. They put in new (Samsung?) LCD TV's with a digitized version of the queue film, rather than wiring them into FunTV.

It sounds like a solid ride and an overall great investment. True, it won't be anything terribly innovative or groundbreaking, but that won't make it any less enjoyable. As has been said, it will still be the tallest and the fastest in Orlando, a rather impressive title to have. It'll bring guests to the park and keep them there. Will I trek to SeaWorld Orlando for Mako like I hope to do with Carowinds for Fury 325? Nope, but it might make me look closer at the park, and city, as a whole. Manta sounds like a great ride, so right there, they've got two solid rides to try out.
