  1. Where does the rumored B&M non-compete come from? It really doesn't make much sense to me that they would agree to that.
  2. You shouldn't have to wait long for that: Source I personally felt myself wishing that they had the ability to accept reservations for Reds, and notify of a time to arrive, via the app, website, or whatever. That way you don't have to wait around for a half hour.
  3. It seemed to be highly dependent on where you were. I was practically directly under an AP entering The Beast's station and it was crawling. Elsewhere, including Starbucks, it was definitely usable.

If you were up here today, you would see for sure that ridership on Adventure Express is nowhere near excessively low. Line is out to the entrance. I am.
  5. I am so sorry for your loss.
  6. They supposedly weren't intended to be available to the public last year, either. That didn't stop some food service locations from stocking and selling them.
  7. Wow! I wonder if the new chef is looking to put the space to good use. Thanks for the update.
  8. $15 is the lost pass replacement cost. There are numerous folks who have reported receiving a new pass when theirs was damaged, at no charge. Cedar Point did the same for my brother and me, it takes like ten seconds and they should know what you mean.
  9. Note that the above is only when you have saved your password in the browser to auto-fill the login form, not just when you leave your account always signed in.
  10. Yep, they're actually really great about getting rides reopened up there. Kinda like the policy to let people line up right until close and get everyone on (if the ride doesn't break down), they want to give guests every opportunity to ride. Even more impressive is when a ride goes down during a ride night and they still quickly get the ride reopened for us. Very cool.
  11. Not sure if serious or sarcastic. That being said, I look forward to the day when (not if) Cedar Fair installs an LSM-launched (not LIM) wing flying coaster from B&M.
  12. Cedar Point will close down Magnum if it's raining within fifty miles or so, though... At least it feels like it.
  13. He also noted that one was indeed not printed out and simply tossed. A supervisor even explicitly stated that there are no receipts under $25. The communication may have come down from above. What kind of POS system has no method for receipt reprint, anyway?
  14. 1) Forecasts this far out are almost entirely useless. They're liable to change numerous times between now and then. I wouldn't decided based on weather until a day or two before at most. 2) It depends on how much rain. With a light rain, some rides may keep running. Heavy rain and it'll shut everything down. As for reopening, that really depends on radar. If it looks like it'll pour again soon, or there is any lightning in the forecast, then rides will stay down. Otherwise, once those conditions have cleared, they'll send out some test runs and get the ride open as soon as possible. If the rain is just intermittent throughout the day, it could draw crowds away for when it clears, making lines shorter. Some of the best days in a park are these hidden gems. On the flip side, if the rain is never-ending, you won't get many rides in.
  15. The tricky thing there is that the registrant is Canadian. There's the Anticybersquatting Consumer Protection Act but that is a US law. The US likely has no jurisdiction there. Is the business truly no longer or is the site simply not being maintained at this time?
  16. The All Season Dining Plan, as indicated by its name, is good for all of the public operating season. Since silver passes are not valid during Haunt, any attached dining plan is also invalid. For Gold and Platinum, however, since there is no stipulation that it is not indeed all season, dining plans are good through closing day. Unless, of course, they decided to change the rules on us again.
  17. More precisely, "'The Best Amusement Park in the World', as voted by readers of Amusement Today magazine". For sixteen straight years, until, like you said, they lost that Golden Ticket Award.
  18. That's how most industries work, or at least are supposed to.
  19. First off, I'll admit that I know absolutely nothing about how Drop Tower works and can only speak of my knowledge in a general sense. With that said, my understanding is that electromagnets are never used for the braking systems on amusement rides; those are all permanent magnetic fins. In order for a train to continue through that stretch of track, the computer has to retract the brake fins (where possible - see also static fins on Intamin coasters). The default state (with no power applied) is for the brake to be extended, active, or whatever you wish to call it. The result is that, if no power is applied to the pneumatic cylinders, the brakes stay in the "on" position. Presumably, old-school friction brakes operate in a similar fashion. Power must be actively applied to open them up and allow a train through. The rest of the time, they are ready to stop a train. If the power's out, well, there's nothing to release the brakes. Looking up an Otis brake, it sounds like this is the same concept. Are the brake fins on Drop Tower retractable at all? Naturally, my biggest question is why this only became a problem in 2014. Did Banshee tie into the existing electrical infrastructure in that corner of the park, thus finally pushing demand above supply?
  20. If by "trying to mimic Terp", you mean being logical and literal.. Then yep, that's me. If you mean punny, well, I'm not funny so it's all I've got.
  21. Of course, silly me, Cedar Fair could have bought up the property without having immediate plans to build on it. That does happen quite often. Oakland Community College, for instance, bought a building and its land just to implode the building and figure out a use for the property later.
  22. Assuming the guy lets it expire. Why not pay the nominal renewal cost, especially knowing that he might be able to get Cedar Fair to pay him a substantial sum?
