July 21, 200719 yr Hi - I just returned home from a early morning trip to Kings Island with my daughter. As soon as the rope dropped I began to make my way to the Starbucks for some super overpriced coffee when I noticed something that I do not think I have ever seen, and I have been going to Kings Island for 30 years. I'm sure you guys already know about this so I though this would be a good place to to for info. Right above the Candy Store on the right side on Internation Street there appears to be a second story outdoor patio. There are a set of stairs that lead to the area, but they are blocked by a black iron fence. Anyone know anything about what this is/used to be?
July 21, 200719 yr Thats funny. I posted about that a month or so ago. After all these years, thats the first time I'd noticed it. When I was at the park about 3 weeks ago, the gate was actually open...(loud, suspenseful music insert here...lol)...

I was there last night and said Wow, I have never seen that, wonder what is up there!
July 22, 200719 yr The second story housed offices for Merchandising supervisors at one time. As of a few years ago, the space was largely abandoned and used for storage.

The space was never used as a restaurant. It was used for area managers offices several years back, but due to fire codes, had to be abandoned as a work area. It was used for storage for years after. Again, due to fire code regualtions, it had to be cleared, the last I heard was that a merch concession (maybe Kamans) was using it to store supplies. The office is pretty much the full length of the candy shop. The entrance hallway inside is very narrow though, which is a big part of the fire code problem. There are 3 rooms, and 2 access ladders that go to the top exterior of the building.
