June 5: Boomerang Bay and TWIGS....

Featured Replies

June 5 would make my 4th trip to KI this season, and this is the first time I've been compelled to do a TR... because of how BAD Boomerang Bay has gotten!

The water seemed to be be flowing faster on the raft rides (Typoon, Rapids), but wow was it dirty!

I was completely embarrassed to say I'd been a gold pass holder for 2 years! I could not believe how dirty the (I still call it) Lazy River was! I wore a white bathing suit and nearly had to BATHE after a float (although I am happy to report there are SIZE options on the rafts, and plenty of doubles) because of all the tree gunk! When we got to the area where the water comes down from the slides, you could SEE BROWN leaves and twigs in the run off area! That tells me that nothing was cleaned before being filled! I was planning on making a formal complaint at the Guest Relations, but my hubby got a mix of heat exhaustion/sun poisoning/reg exhaustion (he works nights and we left after he got out of work) so we had to leave at about 5. He got ill on the Zephyr. I get a giggle out of that. lol

Anywho, I am hoping that someone else had the chance the say something to GR, but I doubt it. KI could lose patronage due to severely icky water, and I'm honestly thinking about going elsewhere for a dip if the prob isn't better on my next trip. Makes me wonder what GL is gonna look like once it's all water!

I was at Boomerang Bay on the 6th and the only ride that i saw had dirty water was the lazy river, but yeah it was bad. It didn't bother me enough to complain , however. I will say the cicadas are BAD at the park. They are obnoxiously loud in many areas in the park, and back by the large raft ride in the water park, they were all over! I also saw at least 4 (dead) floating in the lazy river. I don't think there's anything the park can do about it though...

Here in NKY, we don't have any cicadas.

Those are 17 year cicadas..... They will be gone in about a month and won't be back for... well, 17 years........

I've always thought the lazy river has needed a fresh coat of paint in some areas. Even though the paint doesn't really contribute to the hygenics of everything, it just makes it look cleaner, and therefore more of an appetizing activity.

Well, that brood will be gone for 17 years. There are several broods of cicadas.

True. Except that this years brood seems very localized around Mason (at least thats the only place I've seen them this year), unlike the huge one four years ago. The one that is concentrated around the park will shortly be gone for another 17 years......
