Jasper
One of the best PTR's I have ever had the pleasure to read. I am so happy for you RailRider. I have only gotten to experience the magic of Disney in Orlando and from the looks of the pictures and your description, it fails in comparison to Disney Land. Your whole family looks so happy and I am glad I you posted this trip report. Thank you RailRider!
RailRider
Cory, thanks for taking the time to read this and don't worry I have all pictures printed, backed up online, on the home desktop hard drive and also the portable hard drive. I think we are good, least I hope. Jasper thanks for the kind words and in all honesty I don't know where this PTR rates, one of the best, that is awfully nice. Most enjoyment I ever had doing one, that is for sure. Now that I have both done Disneyland and WDW I rate Disneyland much higher, actually #1. But I think that is because of the experience, almost like a perfect storm came together for our visit that day, and that we took our daughter to Disney the first time. So my opinion of the parks is definately biased, but if you need a reasson to go to California there it is.
TheCryptRaider
RailRider.... How can I even begin to explain my love for your trip reports? From the detailed descriptions, great pictures... and most importantly, your daughter! Your daughter has to be one of the cutest kids I've seen! Her facial expressions could explain the whole trip! I'm glad to see you had fun at Disneyland! One day I hope to make it out there too!
RailRider
Again, everyone thanks for the kind words. I appreciate you taking the time to share our journey. I have taken the past few days since completing the trip report and have just thought about the experience at Disneyland overall. My final thoughts. Disneyland truly is a magical place, quite possibly living up to the hype as happiest place on earth. The one thing that I have always loved about amusement and themeparks is their ability to eliminate the worries and troubles of every day life while transporting you to somewhere that does not exist in your everyday life. Disneyland is honestly the first park I have visted that not only did this but continualy pushed beyond what I thought was possible. Magic is the only word that comes to mind when looking at the experience my daughter had at Disneyland. A breakfast with Minnie and friends all to herself, surrounded at the breakfast table by your favorite characters and pretending to eat with them, its a priceless moment that words cannot justify. Moments like this lived throughout the day and each cast member made their lasting impression on us. Disneyland through a childs eyes is real and magical a place where dreams do come true. To my daughter Minnie mouse was real, Sleeping Beauty was real, as were the many other characters and moments we shared throughout the day. I look back now and honestly those experiences were real to me as well. Amazement, awe, excitement, still the only word that truly fits is Magic... I hope you can someday discover and experience the magic that is Disneyland... ~RailRider

alluna
Railrider, I'm late to the party, but I am so glad I looked at this trip report. Or maybe not because now I'm positively hurting for a Disney trip. Couldn't believe your good fortune at having all the characters to yourselves for breakfast, and the look on your daughters face in that photo with Princess Aurora is priceless! My kids loved meeting all the characters, but you can bet my chatty little girl blushed just like Zoe when she met Belle at EPCOT for the princess brunch. I had no idea that meeting a princess is so monumental until we went to WDW. In line to see Ariel at Magic Kingdom, my girl had time to sketch a picture in the autograph book. After an hour, we found out why the wait was so long... because once she got up there, Ariel chatted with her for a long time, gushed over her sketch and told her she was going to put it in Prince Eric's castle. There is nothing like a Disney trip, they really do take care of everything! You guys looked like you had so much fun and your little girl will thank you for it all her life. She is entirely too cute, by the way.
RailRider
Thanks again for everyone who has taken the time to read and comment on this report. I have been meaning to get this final picture up and I figured today would be a great day, because the next RailRider Adventure is booked. Yosemite National Park in a Day and a Half at the end of August. Heading back to California, can't wait, stay tunned.
Kirk Sheppard
So glad you had a great time. I've been to Disneyland 3x and Cali Adventure once . . .there is just something about the place. . . Walt's personal touch, I guess. One thing that used to be true (and was a major difference from WDW) is that you don't walk into a gift shop everytime you exit an attraction. I appreciated that so much. Anyway, thanks for sharing!!
stephatron
Thanks for sharing your trip! I am one of those who love Disneyland and California Adventure, and think it is the most magical place, for both kids and adults. I remember going my senior year in high school for my graduation trip and becoming giddy with excitement. I'm glad your daughter got to have fun with the characters. Getting the characters all by herself is something that I am very jealous of.
RailRider
Hey all... Just wanted to give this TR a small bump because the Familia RailRider is heading to The World at the end of April start of May and will be followed up with a new TR of Little Miss RR and her first time experiences at The World. Also an interesting note is that the Misses and I are running our first half/marathon in Nashville the day prior to arriving at the Coranado Springs. Thanks again all for the kind words and stay tunned... (#4000)
KIfan1980
I'll be on the lookout for you in the (likely heavy) crowds! With a 5 and 7 year old, we'll be doing a big mix of rides - luckily they are both adventurous so anything they are tall enough for is fair game at least once. RailRider
The good news about the first week of May is crowds should be light. Spring break is over for most schools and if you hit parks on the right days it should be smooth sailing.
KIfan1980
Oops - misread your post earlier on my phone. We are going at the end of March, beginning of April (not April/May transition) - during a heavy Spring Break period.
RailRider
Have a great time. Also something that might help you with the crowds is the Undercover Tourist Disney App for Smart Phones. It is free and gives wait times for all the rides and show times.
