Best day to visit

I realize that this may have been asked before, but I couldn't find it on the board. I am going to bring my 5 year old daughter to King's Island for the first time next week and I was just wondering which weekday is the best to come. We plan on visiting Boomerang Bay also. Thanks for the help, I just want to make her trip as fun as possible!

I believe that the "early admission" to BB is only to grab sunspots. Not too sure though.

And very very few people go to the ERTs. I think most people don't even know they exist. They don't go in Action Zone, anyway. I'd say its no more than 200 people on an average Thursday morning - including the employees.

To actually answer dude's question, any time during the week is good. Just look out for special events (concerts, bring-a-friend-free days, Xtended play) that draw lots of crowds. Middle of the week is usually pretty good. You usually won't run into much trouble on Sunday, either. Don't go on a Saturday if you can help it.

One more piece of advice, start out in the Rivertown/HB area, and go counter-clockwise. AZ gets crowded really quickly, the crowds there start thinning out around 2:00 generally.

Thrill Seeker Thursday is my favorite perk. I will be there next thursday to get my early morning fill of thrills.

You're right.. there's hardly anyone that goes that one. The Op's take their time loading rides up.

How about special event days? I'm going back to PKI on August 5th and 6th and I know that there's a concert at the Timberwolf on the 6th. (Rick Springfield). Should I expect the park to be crowded up until concert time and then level off during the concert? I remember back in the 80's planning a visit to Kings Dominion in Virginia only to find the place so packed for a concert that people were parking on the shoulder of the I-95 freeway and a big sign outside the park suggesting that we visit another day.

Concerts are always fishy. Sometimes the people just won't come until concert time, sometimes they will stay all day. It almost always gives the north end of the park larger crowds at night (SOB, Face/Off, Drop Zone, people ride Congo Falls to get a free look in, you get the idea). It depends on who is playing and what kind of a fan base they have. I hate to give out a non-answering answer like that, but there is just not much consistency with them.

I have never heard of people parking on I-71 and the park telling people not to come for a concert at Timberwolf (though it honestly wouldn't suprise me that much). That honor is now reserved for weekend bring-a-friend free days - and as far as I know, they're done with those for this year.

Thanks for the info. I visited PKI once already this year back in June. This trip is more of a "just to get away from the house" vacation than anything else, along with the fact that I got tickets for $20.00 each with free admission the night before after 5pm. If the park gets too crowded or if I get tired, I'll head back to the motel and relax in their indoor pool and whirlpool. August 25th will mark the anniversary of my first trip, which was back in 1974. By the way, with PKIConnection gone, is anyone interested in the jpeg scans that I made of the Kings Island Guidebook from 1974, and the souvenir book from 1979?
