shark6495
Back when I lived and worked in Elmira, I got to see this park as it was being redone, way back in 2008. Quick history, Eldridge park was a local park that had itself centered around a lake, a carousel, and a roller coaster, not to mention the famous dragon boat. Back in '08/'09 they had just finished the restoration of the carousel. The carousel was closed in 89. The park was dismantled. Only a few of the horses were returned and the rest were brought in from other carousels across the country. I got to ride a private ride on the carousel with the lead member of the parks restoration back in 09. The carousel is very quick and enjoyable. It does however use CD music and it can and does play present day music at night to attract a younger crowd. The park has most recently redesigned its Midway and the dragon boat is still running. I just thought it would be nice to recognize a local park that has fought its way back. Check out the link with some old pictures http://www.eldridgepark.us/ Information on the carousel horses, with their names. http://www.eldridgepark.us/carousel.html
