skatefanjeff
Today was a great day at pki. I woke up at 8:00 to get an early start because my friend was supposed to pick me up at 9:00, at around 9:10 he still hadn't come by so i gave him a call, turns out he over slept, we still got there in decent time though, probaly about 10:15. First we decided to take a spin on Delirium. I love this ride, the more i ride it the more i like it. Next we went to Sonny. The new restraints are great. While i was in line i ran into my cousin, i had no idea he was going to be there. I give PKI a lot of props on the new restraints. I came out able to walk. Next was face/off. I have a big thing against facingthe ground, that feeling of falling out. But today i faced my fear and rode facing the ground first ( my friends were giving me crap for not facing the gorund, so i showed them up) it turned out to not be as bad as i remember. I was feeling cocky so i decided to ride Drop Zone. I rode it once and it scared the living crap out of me but i faced my fears and orde it again. I have now beat my fear of drop zone. After drop zone we went to recar, it was the same as always, a lot of airtime and a lot of fun. Next was a ride on the classic Zephyr. This ride is a great break from all the coaster excitment. Next was fof, it was the usaul, same as always. Next we tryed Vortex, but it was broke down,so we decicded to try TR:TR, also broke down, so we rode The Beast, this ride is now my #2 favortie woodie, sob took the cake with the new restraints. Beast was great though. when on the brakes we saw Vortex testing so we ran over got on Vortex, Vortex was the same as always, we decided to ride shake rattle and roll on our way back to TR:TR to see if it was open, it wasn't so we rode what we wanted and called it a day. It was a good time, except for TR:TR being closed. I feel proud of myself though by riding Drop Zone again, and riding Face off facing down first. shadow2k3
You should try riding in the very front/back seat on Face/Off. You get a good view of the parking lot and you feel like you're going to fall out of your seat when you first drop through. ~Shadow~
Crispy1979
>>>Next we tryed Vortex, but it was broke down,so we decicded to try TR:TR, also broke down<<< Just out of curiousity, does Tomb Rider break down a lot? Cris
KI_Kid
I think TR:TR has been closed for 2 weeks now b/c I have been there 5 times in the past 2 weeks and it has been closed everytime. It has been on the Attraction Not Operating board everytime too. I have asked employees and they respond with the usual "minor mechanical problems." If it was minor, it shouldn't be closed this long. I have gave up on that ride!!
Losing Streak
I think it's open extremely intermittantly. Extremely.
Crispy1979
>>>I think it's open extremely intermittantly. Extremely.<<< Well that sucks. It's one of their major rides (and only a year old, at that) and it's in the middle of the season. It seems like they'd be doing everything they can to make sure its open. Well, if the "status" of the ride changes someone let me know. If I make the drive up to Cincy, I'd like it to be when the ride is operating. SOB_TOM
The park is doing everything in its power to have all the rides and attractions functioning every day. And if TR happens to be down, go ride on of the other 48 rides in the park.
RyanA
Actually, I am happy TR:TR is taking some downtime for repairs. I would personally love to see the door work again, and last time I rode it, 2 saturdays ago, it was definetly the worst ride I had ever had on it. All the service lights in the digs were on and the antechamber. The loading lights in the ride room stayed on, and the preshow lights never completely went off. It seemed pretty pathetic. Still a great ride, I'm just being critical. But if PKI needs to take time to get one of their best attractions fully operational, I say do it. Crispy1979
Well unfortunately I don't live in the area and have only been able to make a yearly day trip to PKI every summer.... so it's not like I go there more than once during a summer. And Ryan, I agree with you. If Tomb Raider is down for repairs, then all the better. That way if I wait until the ride is up and running to visit the park, then it will be in tip top condition. Hopefully they make the necessary repairs to the ride instead of trying to make some quick fixes. If so, then it is worth the down time. Just out of curiousity, is there a number I could call at park opening to get a list what rides are down? I know sometimes rides open with the park and go down during the day.... but there is also usually a list at the opening of the park of what rides are down. RyanA
Actually, you can call guest relations I believe. But they never know if TR:TR will operate or not. If you want to ride it, go in the fall, it worked nearly perfectly all last fall with few show problems. However, the ride just hasn't had a good restart for the season, despite having alot of off season repairs. It was operating well thru may, then just kicked over like on opening weekend. The good news is, every other ride in the park, especially the new ones, seems to be operating well. Still, going to PKI and not riding TR:TR just doesn't seem like a complete trip for me. Tanner
The one time I've ridden Tomb Raider, it broke down towards the end. Funny thing is, one of my friends went for his first ride on it; and it broke down halfway through on him. So I guess they're taking the time to fix it. Last year it was my favorite ride at the park. Nowadays Delirium and Beast are kings!
matt3224
When I was at the park today I think it was open.... I saw people in line so I am assuming it was operating. I haven't been on it for a long time so I don't know what you guys are talking about with the "problems" but I hope everything is cool with it now.
