September 17, 2025Sep 17 Earlier today Six Flags Over Texas announced the permanent closure of the Conquistador, the park's 1981 Intamin Bounty swinging ship that opened in the Spain section, writing: Quote We wanted to share an update with you. After exploring multiple options, we have decided that the Conquistador has officially sailed its last voyage. Thank you to all our guests and team members who have shared countless memories aboard this iconic ride. While it’s always hard to say goodbye, we’re excited about the epic opportunities ahead. We will continue to create new signature adventures for generations to come, beginning with the reimagining of our Spain area anchored by our record breaking dive coaster in 2026. Share your conquistador memories in the comments. Is this a one-off closure with an immediate replacement in mind, or are there more closures coming throughout the rest of 2025? Six Flags Over Texas will announce their newest addition on Thursday, September 25, 2025 during two special in-person events held in the newly restored Southern Palace Theater.
