thejoker8388
Well, I finally got down to PKI this year for the first time. I've been so busy with school I hadn't been able to make it. The morning started out early when I left at 8:00 with 7 of my friends. We live in Columbus but the traffic wasn't bad and we got to PKI a little after 9:30. We decided that we would wait for IJ:ST first and when the rope was dropped we quickly made our way there, to find that it was closed and they had no idea when it would open, so we went to FOF. FOF-still my favorite steel in the park, great launch and intensity. We rode twice in a row as there was no one waiting. Everyone says that this ride has gone down hill, but I still think it's an amazing ride and don't know what people dislike. I know the movie is cheesy but oh well. Also, on a side note the air conditioning was amazing as it was really hot outside. And if you ever are enjoying the lighting or air conditioning just remember that it was my dad that designed it, haha. We rode FOF a total of 4 times throughout the day and I'd give it a 10/10. After FOF we rode Racer fowards and backwards, the fowards seemed rough and not nearly as exciting as I remembered it, but backwards was running great and was alot better. The lines were walk on and were so all day. They were also racing yesterday which was nice. fowards 6/10 backwards 8/10. Next we decided to hit Face Off and Drop Zone, while the lines were short. We rode Face Off first, still a great ride and by far the best boomerang I've ever been on. Smooth and Intense with a 10 minute wait. 8/10. Drop Zone had about a 15 minute wait, I love its drop, best Drop Tower I've ever been on. I noticed it was rotating again, unlike last year, which was nice.9/10 We then hit Top Gun since it was close. The line was walk on and we decided to ride twice because no one was waiting. Short but fun like always, although I agree that the themeing is now non-existent. I've always liked arrow suspended, although I've only ridden 4. 8/10 Next was SOB, for the almost necessary ride. The line was walk on and SOB was smoother than I remember it from last year. My problem with this coaster isn't it's roughness, but instead it's layout. The layout is fairly boring and uneventful. It was my only ride of SOB for the day. 6/10 After that Action Zone was done, because of Delirium being out of comission and it was only 11:30. Next we rode Adventure Express with walk on and we rode 7 times without getting off. Very fun mine coaster, like always, used to be my favorite as a kid. 8/10 Vortex was next. It was running great yesterday and that first drop is one of my favorites of any coaster, great air time. The corkscrews and the drop are always my favorite parts and I'll be very mad if they take out this ride. It was very smooth yesterday and the wait was less than 5 minutes. Rode it 4 times throughout the da.9/10 We then rode Beast. Rougher than I remember it, but this coaster is still my favorite of any coaster. Great times with only a max of a 10 minute wait for the 8 times we rode it. Got 3 night rides, and it is amazing at night, love the coaster. 10/10 Next we rode TR:TR, which seemed to be operating all day w/o issues. I still personaly like the themeing and think its cool, altough it has potential for alot more with maybe a couple of extra flips. The first ride was our longest wait of the day for about 45 minutes, but it was raining outside and when we were done riding the rain had stopped, so the wait was actually perfect. We also got the last ride of the night on it. Walked right in, the movie was already playing and hopped on the ride. 8.5/10 At around 5:30 we were walking by and saw that IJ:ST was finally testing so we decided to wait. After about ten minutes a ride op came out and told everyone that they didn't know how long it would be until it opened and that he encouraged everyone to go ride something else. We waited about another 2 minutes and decided to go when I saw some commotion by the station and they came and told us IJ:ST was open for riders. We got on after waiting two trains. The ride is fun with a great launch and helix, I also got some good air on the part after the over banked turn and the helicopter scene was neat. The tunnel was also very fun. My only problem with the ride is the length so I'd give it a 9/10. I'm glad we waited because the line got very long and we only had to wait maybe 2 minutes. We also rode White Water Canyon, Wild Thornberries, Runaway Reptar, Beastie, Scoobie Doo and the Haunted Mansion, altough I got a defective shooter that wouldn't do anything, Zepher (love this ride), Shake Rattle and Roll, Viking Fury (gives a nice little "pop" of air when your at the top), Monster, and the bumper cars. We got multiple rides on everything that we wanted. The park was just about empty, our average waiting time was about 5-10 minutes at most, with most rides being walk ons, including almost all of the big rides. I think that the humidity and scattered lightning kept people away, but the lightning was short and we rode Scooby Doo while it was going on. The day was great with the shortest lines I've ever had a PKI and I'm looking forward to making it back down in about another month. Hopefully Delirium will be up by then. I'd also like to complement all the crews as they were quick and polite and seemed to enjoy their job even during the rain. The Beast crew deserves as special recognition as they were also very enthusiastic about their jobs, especially at night, with doing cheers and everything. Jasper
That is probably one reason why they werent packed because it was raining. A local Middle School here went yesterday. They also went to see a reds game. I cant wait to get up there.
