Geuaga Lake !

Recommended Posts

Unfortunatly I have not been able to get up north to this park this year. But...I always have loved the ride collection that they have. I'm sure the new water park is great, I just wish that they never had to sacrifice Sea World for the Six Flags Expansion. That being said, I thought over the last few years that the only thing really wrong with that park was the way Six flags was running things. The ride collection is great, and I am very happy that they added what they did (well...except for Villian...I just don't care for it) and I was very happy to see X-Flight added as Ohio's first flying coaster (to bad Paramount bought out of that exclusive deal with Vekoma or that coaster would have been at PKI on the IJ site...and I would have preferred that!) Once Six Flags got out of there things seemed to start an upswing, and I think Cedar Fair is doin a good job with everything. I can't wait for my next trip up and to see what they have in store! I still hear that the permit for a 200 ft. hyper is valid as long as they build on the Sea World side wink.gif

I'm talking about the old Sea World days....long before Six Flags came in. That was when that side of the park thrived, the exhibits and attractions were top notch and nothing less then you would expect from the nations leader in wild-life parks. But then Six flags came in and stripped away all of the excitment and turned it into a zoo. Then they closed half of the buildings and attractions and let the park basically start to rot away.

Geauga Lake & Wildwater Kingdom will get Phase II for 2006 along with a ton of ride rennovations/refurbishments, a couple of new rides, and a few surprises, but come 2007 we'll see the long awaited hyper along with more surprises wink.gif Trust me!

Also, keep in mind that 2007 is Kinzel's last year as CEO of of Cedar Fair and he plans to go out with a bang. How you may ask? Well let's just say he's most proud of the collection of world class rollercoasters he's added to the park chain over the years and that he considers them to be his biggest accomlishments (yes, all the parks, even Michigan's Adventure will be part of this celebation).

KINDA KA was suppose to go to SFWOA!!! I kid u not!

We were also supposted to get Golden Kingdom but Six Flags sold SFWoA in order to pay for the expansion we were originally supposted to get.

Anyways, while we on the topic of things Six Flags was supposted to get but never did, anyone remember this?

"Our vision all along was to create an entertainment destination with the scope, magnitude and variety of entertainment that will provide a bigger- than-life experience and catapult this park into a unique position in the travel and recreation industry as a destination super park," Story concluded. "Over the next five years, that vision will result in a variety of entertainment

opportunities for Six Flags Worlds of Adventure." Six Flags is exploring several innovative concepts for this park including:

- Building a 6 ?-acre lushly landscaped tropical land where guests will walk through a volcano and rain forest to reach numerous interactive areas with exotic birds, reptiles, flamingos, marsupials, swimming tigers and alligators

- A dark ride that will send guests to the deepest abyss of the ocean

- A deep diving submarine Nautilus ride

- Vastly expanding our interactive parent/children play areas

- Marine themed interactive rides and attractions

- Motion simulator and IMAX theatre experiences including a Dinosaur 3D spectacular

- Introducing unusual and educational marine and land animals at the park

- Constructing a monorail system

"And, of course," Story added, "we will continue the Six Flags tradition of building world-class roller coasters."

The hyper will only come if they can get the local governments to agree on changing the height restriciton on the WildLife Side.

Why the WildLife Side huh.gif Wouldn't you agree it would be a smart move to build the coaster on the former waterpark's spot as it's not only a LARGE footprint in the park that's currently unused but it's also on the side of the park that has the 210ft clearing? It just doesn't make sense to build on the WWK side as there's just no room wink.gif

The orginal plan is to get more people over to the Wildlife side.

That's what WWK is for and it's doing it's job exceptionally well wink.gif

I would agree that building it in the spot of the old water park would make sense, but they will need to eventually add a major coaster on the other side of the park.

Actually, the new plan is to get people on the Geauga Lake side as WWK is stealing all the guests away and is becoming extremly popular. People walk straight past the rides back to WWK and now the Geauga Lake side is more empty then last year. After 2006 and WWK's completion, you can be assured that Cedar Fair's main priority will be on bringing life back to the Geauga Lake side via signature hyper coaster wink.gif
