If they did tear it down, which I hope is not the case any time too soon. Do you build a new coaster on The Vortex site or The Bat site? I believe the next coaster will go at The Vortex site and the secluded The Bat site would go empty for several years.
If they did take down The Bat and left the land barren for awhile, I would probably be left staring back there at the old Bat land.

That's one of my favorite rides in the park; I've been riding it since I was a kid! Also, it's one of the only remaining parts of Adventure Village (Skyflyer being the other one), so losing that piece of history would be unfortunate, to say the least. Though some complain about the long walk, I enjoy The Bat's secluded location and the foliage surrounding the ride. Though Orion is faster, cooler and newer, The Bat (fka Top Gun) will always have a place in my heart,
Agreed 100%! I too have rode this ride my entire life, and was startled by reading the above posts. If they ever did tear it down, whatever would go back there to replace it would never have that secluded feel that The Bat has, as you said.

However I do hope the damage is minimal and the ride reopens as quickly as possible. I remember when The Vortex chain broke and they had to get a new one...that repair took a couple months but they got it running again before the end of the season.
Totally agree. As mentioned before, this ride is one of the last of it's kind, and I believe it should stay.

Hello. As a KI regular, I can tell you that Invertigo is going to take awhile to get on. There is only one train, and it takes awhile to load, and unload it.

I think The Bat should stay, at least for a little while longer it is so well tucked back there that I can’t see anything else there besides The Bat.
I agree, I can't see anything else there besides The Bat, or if The Bat left in the coming years, (as sad as that would be) the old SOB land plus The Bat land would make for something pretty good.

Whatever it is, I hope it starts operating again soon. In my opinion, it is one of the more underrated rides in the park, especially since it is one of the last of it's kind.

Not too much, just make sure you get in line before they close the line. Along with the usual awesome night rides such as Beast, DB, Orion, and others, I highly recommend riding The Bat at night.

So thats where the baby geese went. Earlier in the season I saw them over in the pond next to the Viking ship, and then they weren't there a week later. Got me worried! (:

It was my family's first trip to KI since COVID hit. I grew up in the area but moved out of state years ago. But I loved KI so much I started taking my daughter there when she was five. This year she took a friend with her. I mostly just walked around with them and watched them ride this time. But even though I only rode a few rides, it was so much fun watching her make some of the same great memories that I have.
As for the trip report,
The Good:
- The park looked gorgeous. I loved the 50th anniversary decorations, and the new paint jobs on many of the old attractions made them look brand new. The historic photo displays throughout the park are wonderful, too. And it was very clean, as usual.
- The ongoing commitment to safety. When we were on the Viking Fury, one of the attendants stopped mid-preflight check and asked a guardian to let them doublecheck a child's height. It only took a moment to make the child get up and go get measured before letting him back on and starting the ride, but that showed me that the staff really care about the guidelines. Hats off to management and staff for that level of diligence.
- Guest behavior was exemplary all day. We saw no disturbances or line-jumping. I was a bit worried after seeing stories of recent fights at the park, but we saw no troublemakers all day. Security was visible but not obtrusive.
- Dining, part 1. The Larosa's was delicious as always. Few things can top a couple of slices of Larosa's by the International Street fountain.
The Bad:
- The music. Since we hadn't been there since 2019 I'm not sure how long ago this changed, but the music on International Street is now big band-era jazz type music. I enjoy that type of music in general, but I really missed the sweeping, majestic soundtrack music that was there before. I mean, I love "Stompin' at the Savoy," but it pales in comparison to the theme from The Natural paired with the sound of the fountain for getting you excited about a day of fun.
- Going cashless. I understand the practicality of it: it makes transactions faster (in theory) and is easier on the cashiers. But it also is a sneaky extra source of income for the park because of all the people who walk out with a little bit of money left on a card that may never get used. We came from out of town, and my daughter's friend who came with us brought cash. If she'd converted it all to a payment card she would have undoubtedly left with a balance, and she definitely won't return this year. For adults it's a perfectly good policy, but for teens who don't have credit cards and aren't frequent visitors it's less than ideal. I ended up paying for most of her things with my Apple Pay and she just gave me a little cash at the end of the day.
- Dining, part 2. The Skyline in Old Coney was incredibly disappointing. The buns were stale and the chili and wiener were lukewarm. That's the worst Skyline I've ever had anywhere, let alone at KI.
I too must agree that I dislike the park going cashless. It might be very convenient to some, but to others not the same.

For what it's worth I'd be very surprised if we got our next coaster before CP, Wonderland, and Carowinds but with the chain being desperate to sell passes anything is possible.

KICentral was started back in 2003 by Dane Thomas as a dedicated website to host pictures he took at Kings Island. Fast forward to 2022, KICentral is still a very active forum and continues to add to its main site the park news, and document the history of Kings Island. Media Director Brad Perdue for KICentral spent hundreds of hours over the last few years updating and reformatting the site's historical timeline (thanks to the help from KI historian members) and updating other pages on the main site. He continues to add thousands of pictures to its picture galleries every season so KICentral has a good collection of Kings Island history documented in picture format. KICentral is a unique park website as it not only has an extensive collection of past park history, but continues to document Kings Island as events and changes happen in real-time.
After KIE decided to close the doors on KIExtreme, they were gracious enough to share with us their collection of pictures and park audio they called KITunes. We have imported all of the pictures as well, but being such an extensive collection it will take us some time to integrate them into the active galleries you see on our main site.

If it was removed for future expansion, I wouldn't be surprised if Adventure Express left in the coming years. (As sad as that would be)
