  1. I stand partially corrected... okay, mostly corrected. The black line with the right angle is a continuation of the queue line, which psses under the lift and enters the station on the other side. But there is only ONE exit, and it is the blue line. The orange line is the handicapped entrance. So you can gloat somewhat.
  2. Okay, here's the actual route of riders when entering and exiting the ride: Your black line with the arrowhead shows the entrance to the queue. After wrapping back and forth several times in the queue, the rider comes back out of the queue (against the arrow) and up into the station via the orange line. The blue line is the exit from the station. All riders will exit through the merchandise shop. Your piece of black line with the right angle goes nowhere. There is nothing under the station for guests as it is a restricted area. I hope this clears it up a bit.
  3. Hey WooferBear... Are you exempt from the TOS because you have so many posts, or what?
  4. theming-schmeming I'm tired of us being called a theme park. What's wrong with amusement park?
  5. I'm sorry but I just don't want to leave this alone. Clearly, this is a person with quite an ego. I can't get the image out of my mind of this guy walking along... with the floor actually sticking to his feet. I've had the opposite happen (usually at home), but he must have caused a real mess in that place.
  6. I've witnessed this type of behavior at times and I always wonder why the person feels it's necessary to make a spectacle of it. Just complain to the manager and be done with it, why doncha? If you don't get satisfaction, then go to the next level.
  7. I have an amusing anecdote regarding Screamin' Demon that some of you might enjoy. The years have all seemed to run together, but I'm going to say this happened in '79 maybe. The launch mechanism was always trouble-prone and sometimes the train would not have enough speed/momentum to make it all the way up the far side. The chain dogs would keep the train from rolling back down the hill and, depending on the exact position of the train, the guests would be assisted out of the cars and allowed to walk down the steps. But if the train was too far back on the slope it was deemed unsafe to evacuate the cars, and steel-coaster maintenance would need to manually release the chain-dogs, allowing the train to roll back down the slope where it would eventually come to a stop at the bottom of the loop. The train would then be evacuated safely. That scenario unfolded one day and I was a close-up witness of it. I should note here that the situation I just described was not uncommon and, although it did not occur every day, it occurred often enough that anyone working on the Demon was thuroughly familiar with the procedure. Anyway, to get back to the story... on this particular day the train, when released, travelled backward down the slope, and up the loop far enough to strike a perfect balance at the top of the loop. It remained motionless at the top of the loop, upside down, full of guests... and things started falling into the water below... sunglasses, purses, hats, and anything else that was loose... Although it seemed much longer at the time, it only hung there for about a minute or so before the squirming of the guests finally unbalanced the train, sending it back down to the bottom of the loop where it gradually came to rest. Thankfully, no one was injured during this incident so I don't feel too out-of-line calling it "humorous".

    Ft Kinzel

It was named Ft. Cooper when FOF opened because Jane Cooper was the President of Paramount Parks... so now the flag has been passed.
  9. I agree with Avatar and KI-ORIG-EMP regarding Nickelodeon Universe. All amusement parks have rides, and many have kiddie areas, but Nickelodeon Universe is truely a gem. We must thank Paramount for that. They done good!
  10. I forgot all about her... thanks a lot for reminding me.
  11. Mostly I only see it referred to as SOB or SoB at the PKIC web site. SOB was not the name chosen for that ride. At Kings Island the employees call it Son of Beast.
  12. Okay, I stand not quite corrected. I was referring specifically to roller coasters. Obviously a ride like Phantom Theater or back when it was Gulliver's would be stupid without theming. On a roller coaster, however, I believe the theming is wasted in most cases. How many people actually notice on Adventure Express the spears coming out of the holes in the booby trap tunnel, or the snakes hanging in the snake tunnel.
  13. Why is theming so important to anyone? It adds drastically to the cost of the ride... for what? I don't think CF is big on theming, since what a ride looks like has very little bearing on what it feels like when you ride it.
  14. This is a very interesting thread, and many respondents have good, thoughtful ideas... however, the implication that CF as a company is more safety conscious than Kings Island's maintenance and engineering staff is an insult.
  15. I find that thing very difficult to read. The text in the blog blends in with the background. I won't go back there until I hear they've fixed it. My eyes are too old.
