  1. >>I also liked the girl who said people only went to the park because of the "Paramount Themes". << Exactly! Apparently she thinks that Paramount is the only one that ever owned Kings Island. Some people are just stupid. Like I said who really cares about the Paramount themes? The only rides that actually had 'themes' were Top Gun,TR, and IJ. Tomb Raider will actually probably be better this year. I couldn't stand watching the pre show...I hated the movie Tomb Raider anyway! Although....does anyone know if the music they used to play when you actually walked in and got on the ride was from the movie? I liked that music Drop Zone & Face Off weren't exactly themed after the movies they were named after either..... And Top Gun....I could care less if I never see another poster with Tom Cruise on it again....although I love LOVE that movie I can't stand him anymore so it's fine by me! The only thing I am kind of sad about is the music they play now during the fireworks. I always liked hearing the Top Gun music, etc. during the fireworks and the one time I actually payed attention during the fireworks last year the music was LAME! Other than that...meh. I don't really care who owns the park as long as they do a good job with it! ~Ash
  2. "I think the fact that it was owned by Paramount had something to do with (Kings Island's) popularity," she said. "Rides like Top Gun refer to movies, and I think it's a possibility that it will get less popular." Obviously some people like to ride rides because of their names and not the actual rides themselves. It's not like Top Gun had such extensive theming that we're going to really care that it's renamed Flight Deck. So....they took out the movie posters and the music? Who cares? It's still going to be the same ride. And it's been years since I rode Top Gun to where I actually waited through the part of the line that was 'themed' so really. Whoever said this is an idiot. It's the same coaster whether or not we see Tom Cruise before we go on it. ~Ash
  3. But I like posting repeatedly after myself! After myself! LOL

It is? I'll be keeping all of my fingers (and toes!) crossed that it's open for Sunday. If not...oh well...I'm just happy to be going! I need my KI fix!
  5. Maybe it's to add to the "nostalgia"
  6. LOL at the dialectizer!!! That's hilarious....
  7. LOL I didn't notice that til you pointed it out! I'm with whoever said they should hand out free ice cream Mmmmmm blue ice cream. Can't wait to get some of that!

Wasn't it a little boy who had towls all wrapped around him? and I remember when I first rode it, the drums were soo loud and you could see water drip on the gates and seats in front of you. The fog was working and the whole recorder voice was going! pictureing takeing! lava shooting up. Too bad half that stuff didn't last for long. Oh yeah.....that was awesome walking in on opening day and seeing all of that fog. You could barely tell what the ride was! Yeah it didn't last for long but at least we got to experience it at least once...
  9. Look for me outside of Top Gun opening day! That will be me^^! Lol Hahahahaha!!!! It would be hilarious if somebody came up to one of us and asked "Excuse me, can you tell me where to find Flight Deck? Drop Tower? Back? LOT? STUNT? COASTER?" And the whole time my right eye is twitching....and I'm like......If you'd like me to direct you to Top Gun....it's right over there. See that guy screaming WHYYYYY GOOOOD WHYYYYYY?!?! No? Ummm....well do you see those legs sticking out of a trash can? Do you hear those people singing Danger Zone even though that's definitely not on the soundtrack? Yeah that would be Top Gun
  10. I was also pretty upset when I heard that Racer was going to run both sides forward. I loved riding it backwards, it was something different than every other coaster. I also don't really care one way or another if they race all season or not. You're going to be on the same ride whether or not the people are racing beside you. Of course, I do think it will be fun when they race, but who really cares if by mid season they stop racing or not? The point is....the only reason I hated riding it forwards(the 2 or 3 times I tried it) was because of how rough it was. Don't get me wrong, I love riding The Beast and SoB on those days when it feels like the car is going to fly right off the track and I'm bouncing out of my seat....but the few times I rode forwards I felt like my spine was cracked in half..lol. But now that they re-vamped the whole track, I bet riding forward will be just as fun(and smooth) as backward, you'll just be able to see everything better! So while I was disappointed at first(and still am just a little) I still think we will all still enjoy the ride just the same as we always did....isn't it all about the lovely airtime anyway?? So yeah, backwards will be GREATLY missed by a lot of people I'm sure, but who knows...maybe we'll all love the new(old) way better. Can't knock it til we try it. ~Ash
  11. Hahahahahahaha! No, they renamed those WASTE RECEPTACLES. Or wait, was that what they renamed RESTROOMS:The Ride? I would seriously die if somebody was having a panic attack in the middle of the park.....OH MY GOD it's not called Top Gun anymore!?!?!?! What do we do? I have no idea where to go now!! They drop to their knees and start screaming. Whyyyyyyyy?!?!
  12. I agree! I don't think I will ever call anything by it's new name. Drop Tower=lame. Invertigo is okay. BLSC=seriously? LOL! And Flight Deck......whoever said the post about putting someone in the nearest trash can if they call it Flight Deck...I'm right there with you. LOL I can imagine walking around on opening day and seeing someone's legs flailing outside of the trashcan....hahahaha! It still makes me laugh when people stand in the middle of a path staring at their upside down map trying to figure out where everything is. Meh....tourist. I know, I know. I'm sure we've all had to look at a map or two at a new park. But come on, the ones that stand in a giant GAGGLE and block up the whole path while they are searching around in their fanny packs for a pen to circle the nearest bathroom. Give me a break
  13. LOL!!!!! I can so hear you saying that. You crack me up.
  14. All of the parks I have been to were great. While I do consider myself a "coaster enthusiast"...I love coasters but I am poor so I never get to travel to that many parks..lol.The ones that I have been to have their good and bad aspects. We used to go to Americana all of the time when I was little. We used to love going there....although I know it was going downhill(obviously). I was too young to notice if the park was trashy or not.....all I cared about was the rides! That was a good park to go to for families who didn't have a lot of money but wanted to experience an amusement park. Although I'm sure if it was still open and I went now I would probably think it was boring. Mostly due to the fact that most of the rides I liked when I was little I couldn't ride anymore because most flat rides make me sick now!! But I do remember the Serpent as being fun and the Screeching Eagle(I think that's what it was). We loved the log flume ride too! Of course I've been to Kings Island! I guess I'm pretty biased because I've been going there practically my whole life. I just like the general atmosphere of the place and of course the rides. It's ususally kept pretty clean although here in the past couple of years the restuarant/food place employees have gotten on my nerves with general bad attitudes and they act like they have more important things to do than their job! Not to say that it was every one of them but I did notice last year most every time we went it was like that at certain places. But overall I would hope that people visiting KI for the first time think it's as clean and fun as I do! I've been to Cedar Point one time(sadly!!). We went either the year or the year after TTD opened. (TTD wasn't running! boo i still want to see what it's like!) Of course I loved the rides....MF is probably my second favorite coaster! The only thing we had a problem with was the fact that my younger brother was with us and he was either too little to ride some of the big coasters or he didn't want to ride them. Either way Cedar Point's rule about not letting him wait off in the "kiddie pen" as we like to call it was pretty annoying. We had 5 in our family so trying to work around that pretty much sucked because we all couldn't ride together. Not to mention my mom and dad took my littlest brother and they ended up getting screwed because I don't think they got to ride one coaster together! I think they also had lockers everywhere and wouldn't let you throw your stuff to the side when you rode. Not to say that's not a good rule because I know other people shouldn't be liable for your stuff, but we were used to KI so it was just a little annoying. But I loved that park and I really hope I get a chance to go again! Islands of Adventure is an awesome park too. Their coasters are so much fun. But what I liked most about that park was the themed areas. It felt like you were in a different park in each area. Overall great experience there. And of course I've been to Disneyworld and Universal Studios.....great experiences there, but I don't think I will ever go to Disney again until I have my own kids. The prices for food and everything just killed us when we went last time! Not so much my cup of tea except when you have little kids with you so you can enjoy it through their eyes. Although I do love me a good ride on Space Mountain So yeah I haven't been to a park that I don't like yet. Hopefully I'll get the money someday to travel elsewhere...I'd really like to get to a Six Flags or just any other park in general with a lot of great rides that I haven't experienced yet.
  15. I liked Days of Thunder. James Bond was cool too. A Star Wars theme would be completely awesome as someone said...but *sigh* that will never happen. I think anything to do with outerspace would be cool IMO. I never got to ride the 7th portal one or the Indy type one.....were those any good?? I'm glad I didn't see the carnival type one they had either....clowns scare the crap out of me! I like Spongebob but that gets a little old. Besides, don't we have enough Spongebob in NU? They need something with more action/adventure. I know this would never happen but wouldn't it be great if they took that whole thing out and replaced it with a Back to the Future(universal) or Spiderman(Islands) type ride? We can always dream..... ~Ash

I've ridden it a couple of times when they worked. I can't remember which row I was sitting in though when I got shot in the face with one...lol. ~Ash

    The Crypt

I still ride Crypt every time we go too. I rode it opening day and I remember my brother and I kept wondering what the eff the ride was going to be like. Then we walked in there and.....yep....amazing! I still think it's a fun ride but new ride programming would be great..just a little variety! I don't really care that the pre-show and everything is being taken out. That hasn't been the same since they decided not to turn the lights completely out because some people were too scaaaaared I loved when they still did that.....it was fun to know that I knew it was coming and some people didn't. That was one of the best parts about waiting in line for that ride! LOL! I hope it's open on Sunday.....I can't wait to ride! ~Ash
  19. I'll be there opening day! I can't wait! I had to beg and plead to get ONE lousy weekend off from work and luckily opening day fell on this particular weekend. Although I didn't mention that when I asked for this weekend off...... Usually we hit Drop Zone...err....Drop Tower first (I still don't think I'll ever be able to switch names!lol) but I think we may head over to Rivertown first this year. Maybe even Nick U...I haven't been back that way in awhile. When you guys all go to Kings Island do you usually have an order that you like to go in? Just curious....we usually hit everything in the same order every time we go. It usually goes: 1)Drop Tower(just to get that ohmygodijustpeedmypants feeling right from the start 2)Flight Deck 3)Delirium 4)SoB 5)Adventure Express 6)Racer (always backwards but I guess this year we don't have a choice!) 7)FoF 8)Firehawk 9)Vortex 10)Crypt 11)Beast Those are just the coasters though...we usually try to sprinkle in a couple of other smaller rides if it's not too crowded. We always try to go on the bumper cars and Scooby Doo if we have time. I didn't include BLSC or Invertigo in there because we usually never ride those. Invertigo...because it always seems like it makes somebody in my family feel like they are going to pass out when they ride it. Including me and that has NEVER happened on any other coaster! And BLSC just because it's not that great...a couple of times a year for that one is okay with me. And of course we end up running halfway around the park towards the end of the day trying to get those last minute second or third rides in on Delirium,Firehawk,Drop Tower or Beast. And our tradition is that we always have to ride The Beast at night or at dusk if we can. There is absolutely NOTHING like riding The Beast when you can't see where you are going...not to mention the warm summer night air blowing in your face....awesome! ~Ash
  20. That video was great! The park does look like it's going to be in really great shape! It will be sad to see Swan Lake in that condition.....but I hope by the time everything is said and done that they will refill the lake and hopefully replant some trees. Maybe in 20 years it will look as lush as it used to I am pretty sad that the pathway will be closed though...that was one of my favorite places in the park to walk in. But hey....as long as they are doing something worthwhile....coughcoughnewcoastercough....then I am ok with it ~Ash
  21. Right now I see AM clouds/PM Sun with a high of 70 degrees. Chance of precipitation 10%. Sounds good to me! That's for Sunday though. For the people who get to go on Sat. it's going to be a high of 60. I'll take Sunday! Opening day crowds seem to vary. One year we went and it was an absolute gorgeous day...it was a little rainy in the morning but by the end of the day it was beautiful and sunny with a nice breeze and we got on every single ride with hardly any wait. I'm hoping for the same on Sunday. But the crowds don't really bother me! I just can't wait to go! ~Ash
