  1. Just wanted to chime in, after seeing some disappointment that this addition didn't come to KI instead. Gonna be 100% my personal thoughts here, is even if KI was offered the opportunity to have this addition, they may have denied it. The tilt feature looks like a ton of maintenance cost lol
  2. it name, not scope. they could call the project "big Jim's whimsical garden of farts" and it wouldn't matter, yes the intention is for the project name to be related to what the scope of the project is, but whether modifying an existing structure or commencing a new project, the name of the project could be quite literally whatever the park wants it to be, as long as the site is identified, and the actual work listed to be completed within said permits is accurate. Naming the project permit something unrelated to the work being done within the permit is far from falsifying government documents. but lets also be clear, Orion was identified by the project name "project X" would that also be falsifying government documents since it didn't use the actual name for project either!? They can call a project whatever, id argue to say the city of Mason generally has an understanding with the park about doing such things for the preservation of their marketing intentions, so even if they did quote on quote "falsify a government document", it would likely be nothing more than an ask for correction or further information from the city. the project is for commercial alterations, which could mean any amount of work to a commercial structure, anywhere within the property. yeah this is probably exactly what I stated it likely is, my brother in Christ are we not allowed to throw out wild possibilities while speculating anymore? if someone chooses to take this as factual evidence that's their prerogative I've been very unbiased and clear in everything I've posted, either my opinion, personal thoughts, or clearly labeled wild speculation. I cant make it any more clear. the only reason I made any sort of wild toss in this direction for speculation is due to the parks precedent of utilizing names unrelated to the actual project to hopefully prevent the permits being pulled and the "secret" let out early.
  3. considering dippin dots have to be stored at -40 degrees, this is likely just infrastructure improvements on a space dedicated to storing such inventory lol on the other hand, I mean theoretically I guess they could use whatever to hide what an "actual" project name is, but that doesn't follow convention with Orion originally being project X and, id be hard pressed for them to use another companies brand name to disguise permits for a new major addition. someone wanna go pull the permits?
  4. getting home from work and reviewed the changes a little closer now, noticed that the "remnants of the unloved son" tape has gone, likely confirming IMO that this for sure has no relation to future plans, as this was the one link to the previously abandoned teasers. Edit: If the collective analysis of all these changes posted here by all you amazing people and making the connection back to the abandoned teasers at CP had anything to do with the removal of this reference, I would genuinely find that hilarious ;;; It would be awesome if we could get direct confirmation from anyone what the abandoned teasers at CP were about -------- gonna get crazy here feel free to disregard lol: My final I'm going insanely out on a limb here thought for the tiniest shred of a scrap of hope that maybe this is still something is that, we figured this out a little quicker than the park wanted, and were now being thrown off the trail because they want people at haunt to buy and interact with this feature piece for the lanterns, which also doubles as an announcement, and let the word spread naturally to drive sales of the lanterns and advertisement of a new attraction.
  5. Seeing this photo going around reddit now
  6. Reddit user identified changes to this electrical box from what was seen here in 2020. Post if from 11 days ago The what appeared to be temporary? line run along the outside of the existing conduit attached via zip ties, has seemingly gone, Note the wall have been repainted as well?!? Service ran inside the conduit appears to be disconnected as of this photo, which bares the question of why a temporary service connection was made for a period of time and then disconnected and removed again
  7. just a small thought, considering the original teaser for this in 2019 was at CP, maybe Tony and his team is involved with the theming? wouldn't be the craziest thing in my opinion, Tony has been known for some time to be just a thorough as Don was, and if KI finally is getting that huge marquee attraction (again T-Rex?), Tony has the experience with marketing such an attraction, multiple times over, wouldn't be crazy to have someone else who works for the company within the same state, barely 3 hours away from each other, to at least consult on this all lol were just speculating here, trying my best to open up, and retrench some of the past info / leads / Easter eggs ; for further thought to see if anything comes of it from anyone with the new stuff that could also totally mean nothing
  8. ;(Reposting the pertinent SOB station changes, recently and originally identified and posted by PKIVortex in the "Kings Island Halloween Haunt 2024 Discussion" over here for consistency of having all the info on the changes / speculation on this in one place. ); ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- on 9/8/2024 at 12:43 AM, PKIVortex said: Seen this today over near the SoB atation. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- on 9/8/2024 at 02:32 PM, Coasterteam said: I have photos of them also taking stuff out of the area from August 14th, 2024. Just to show the difference, something cool to see them working in this place again. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I made additional connections in my post following this post from Coasterteam, on 9/9/2024 at 4:42 AM i just came to the realization that these are quite literally the "Lost remnants of number 5" that were referenced in the weird 2019 teaser from CP : definitely curious how this all aligns now further with the details of the poster, Stating "items inside crates and trunks must remain closed until the time is right", and now seeing a literal crate open with pieces of the former ride. Wonder if any of the other various crates / barrels marked with the outpost 5 logo throughout the park have been updated in any way following this new crate at the former site. Maybe this was the plan pre covid and was shelved until now? maybe the company is satisfied with steel vengeance and RMC now that its operating consistently and feel confident moving forward with this project? theoretically with tunnels itd likely be possible to reuse the original station going out under Banshee for what id imagine is the most viable route of entry / exit to the open space the former ride occupied, beyond Banshee personally I feel like with the space to available it could honestly be very fitting if a downward helix started the ride just as it does on The Beast ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- update for 09/10/2024 at 3:53pm: User on Instagram identified and posted additional changes to the "station building", seemingly new paint on the semi-temporary walls utilized by the former haunt attraction, curiously this new paint is in the same style of caution crosshatching as the crate and formerly SOB's original theme, as well as featuring a fairly sizeable outpost 5 logo painted near one of the three doorways ( photo attached ) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Some additional thoughts: The crate states "ATTN. KI Haunt" which could be taken at face value for a teaser of a new Haunt maze potentially, but for me this raises some questions: Why would KI tease a new Haunt maze a full year ahead of said addition? Why does the crate reference RMC (while utilizing a font commonly used by RMC I might add), personally I would like to believe the PR association with utilizing any arrangement that leads to the abbreviation RMC at any theme park is known and wouldn't be placed on this crate lightly knowing the speculation it could. ( and is causing. ) ( lol ) Why does this now align very well with the, what were, seemingly abandoned thread of teasers from 2019? Hasn't the park in recent years (2019 onward?) reserved the haunt season for announcing / beginning the teasing of major removals/ additions ? (I.E.: Firehawk , Vortex , Orion) (obviously Adventure port was not in the plans and had little to no teasing, although it is weird that this could align as well, given that the park was handed a last minute budget for CapEx, and out of all the areas they could have changed, they chose to expand this idea that Adventure Express and the area is a mining / shipping port, which was always connected to the Outpost 5 lore, make additional references and teasers to outpost 5 and SOB within this addition, even reupping the theme references on the ride to the "shipping and cargo transportation route" which was referenced within the teaser from 2019? ( weirdly too coincidental IMO ) Any connection to the SOB / Outpost 5 tweets from RMC? Is this the T-REX??????!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? (Longshot but hey we know RMC was approached about the T-Rex by a park, nothing seemingly came of it, yet RMC has continued making references, tweets, and stringing along that its still a thing, seems curious that this timeline fits into the conundrum of unplanned additions / removals to KI (not to mention covid wrecking CapEx plans / timelines for all the parks) Edit 5:20 PM 09/10/2024: Seeing online as well that the structure may have been deemed unfit for use by the state at some point, could explain the electrical work previously seen being done? maybe power / utilities needed to be disconnected from the structure to comply with this? Maybe what pushed the park to begin making these changes, or look at the options they have with the space / structure? Furthermore, it appears as the "semi-temporary" walls, have internally been removed for the most part, seems like from the photos that the edge walls are basically all that's left up in there from the haunt, which I would imagine is probably for over image it might portray having the station fully empty, and maybe also to deter anyone who might go exploring from going all the way into the station (small case, but its been known to happen with some videos of people doing exactly this, able to be found on YouTube if you search hard enough (lol) Edit 6:30 PM 09/10/2024: Reference for full drawn crate seen in 2019 teaser is likely this: Crate which is found in the Adventure Express station post refurbishment and theming update. Weirdly IMO looking at this it seems to be straight up the exact same crate from the 2019 teaser, except, the hinge locks and straps keeping it closed have been IMO what appears to be themed as if something busted them open? destroying parts of the crate/hinges there? 6:40 PM: yeah 100% the blurry brown bar looking structure on the bottom right of the crate there is the same as the bar structure on the drawing of it. definitely made to look like something broke out. Edit 7:07 PM 09/10/2024: Further theming thought, maybe they really have just been been playing the incredibly long game with this one? I mean this teaser from 2019 references further incoming shipments, and again that they shouldn't be opened until the time is right, and since this there have been numerous occurrences of crates, boxes, barrels, etc. popping up throughout the park since this time. okay now this ones gonna get a little crazy, but In 2020 I capped a nice shot of this crate showing up next to the stairs in FOF, this year, just happening to be on a family visit, I noticed the crate was gone, and saw these weird pole structures beyond where the crate was, not sure if its always been there, I've never noticed it before, but if someone has any idea or if its related that'd be dope!
  9. so uhm, is it maybe time to start a speculation thread to track this separately? i just came to the realization that these are quite literally the "Lost remnants of number 5" that were referenced in the weird 2019 teaser from CP : definitely curious how this all aligns now further with the details of the poster, Stating "items inside crates and trunks must remain closed until the time is right", and now seeing a literal crate open with pieces of the former ride. Wonder if any of the other various crates / barrels marked with the outpost 5 logo throughout the park have been updated in any way following this new crate at the former site. Maybe this was the plan pre covid and was shelved until now? maybe the company is satisfied with steel vengeance and RMC now that its operating consistently and feel confident moving forward with this project? theoretically with tunnels itd likely be possible to reuse the original station going out under Banshee for what id imagine is the most viable route of entry / exit to the open space the former ride occupied, beyond Banshee personally I feel like with the space to available it could honestly be very fitting if a downward helix started the ride just as it does on The Beast
  10. sometimes "venues" this large just wanna get an updated overall generalization of multiple areas of their property too, could be for planning general improvements and nothing major, or a mixture of both. I work out at a music venue, and we just did this to the whole property for ****s and gigs basically, because the last time we had the property plotted was 15 years ago, and now its super easy for us to have cad work done for minor offseason additions
  11. Visited the park this Saturday, didn't see any further changes to the SOB station, but here's another glamour shot for everyone anyways
  12. doesnt really means anything in regards to production though, they likely did have all the production files ready and then canned it and used the funds paid to B&M already towards Orion. Financially its a win for B&M they got paid, they got to design a ride thats fully on paper is ready to go and be produced for any park that may want it. And Cedar Fair got Orion in return
  13. that seems likely, my stab at it is that either B&M and/or the manufacture plant uses those designations to coincide with an internal filing structure they use, so its possible IMO that financially Orion is CGA's hyper/giga, and they skipped a letter because, had they used S for Orion (when the project was transitioned into Orion) that reference may has led employees to files/information to the canceled CGA project, so the letter T was used as its next and could/would refer only to the Orion project files. manufacturing codes are weird, coming from someone whos worked in large CNC operations, sometimes it means everything, sometimes it means nothing. But that's my guess, probably is nothing more than what they had to do to make sure employees manufacturing parts don't make the wrong ones lmao
  14. wonder what date exactly these photos came from, 2008 season was the first year i got to ride SOB finally, even without the loop i loved it. Heres hoping for more giant rose bowls on wooden coasters!
  15. the biggest factors that have me leaning this direction, are if the park had this in the works for some time, prior to Vortex being removed or right in that jumbled mess, (man the pandemic really made a mess of things lol), since if I'm remembering correctly Firehawk was down and work had already begun on Orion at that time, its not out of the realm of possibility IMO that things may have been already moving on usage for SOB plot of land and then it was found that Vortex was going to kick the bucket. seeing what happened with Canada's wonderland and the postponement of Yukon Striker and the originally planned project moving to Cedar Point. Makes me want to think that maybe one or more manufacturers had already been selected and or begun work, for an addition to this area, and it didn't make fiscal sense to have the project moved to another park, or something of the like, so instead its been postponed until now'ish (because we all know no manufacturer is gonna complain about taking money from a amusement business and holding onto it for a while lmao) i mean technically speaking isnt Orion the giga that was originally for CGA? or something?? if so its also not entirely impossible to think that the park has wanted to make movement in the SOB area even prior to Orion, and the whole Vortex/Firehawk mess sparked that movement, pushing those plans to 2023, and then pandemic/top thrill dragster, caused another push to 2025?
  16. pretty much where my heads at, I dont want to start counting my chickens just yet, but this has been a very exciting "development", especially with the consideration of some of the other factors at play here, and potential teasers
  17. good catch here about some teasing done in the newish FOF theming, something is really telling me 2023 was not intended to be an "off" year (yes obviosuly we got A.P. but maybe we got A.P. because 2023 was pushed to 25? and this is one of the electric boxes that was flagged in 2020, right next to the gate that i caught being wide open lol makes me wonder if they werent entierely just burying lines and cleaning things up, but were also reconnecting some services. (posted by Gforce1994 on august 13, 2020)
  18. This is what i posted in the previous thread: "So, its not really anything scarily important, and I totally didn't even ever think to mention it here until now, but I visited the park with a group of friends on October 17th this year, when being curious and checking out the SOB area, the original entrance plaza and the ramp entrance that leads to the station that usually has a padlocked gate was just kind of wide open, padlock off the gate, gate wide open, didn't even cross my mind to get a photo of it because when I saw it open I immediately found a park employee to inform them that it was just open. My best guess is whoever is/was doing that survey work relating to the station left the gate open accidentally, the employee closed the gate after they saw it though So yeah, nothing serious but I figured you all would get a kick out of it lol" this was back in 2020 so very likely to not be related, but, who knows maybe they did some minor preliminary assessment and then chess pieces got shuffled internally by Cedar Fair corporate, and any project that was planned there/beginning to be planned was pushed to this year, before being pushed again, and that's why we got adventure port this year last minute. kind of fits the whole "two years out" trend, wouldn't be insane to think the park was doing some preliminary/tertiary infrastructure work while that water line project was happening (if they have crews out why not have them do all the work you'll need done in the near future), and then things got reshuffled and the work they had crews doing while they were potentially out there anyways, and any project that this potential preliminary/tertiary work was related to just hasnt kicked up again until now. also kind of makes sense that we were seeing outpost five "teasers" and references at Cedar Point around the time this work was being done, and how now with Adventure port, we've seen more southern yellow pine, and outpost references once again (along with that RMC outpost 5 tweet lol) I know if your search through this thread there are a few more posts mentioning seeing work being done on the SOB station, but who knows. I do know these speculation threads are super fun
  19. lights being back on is odd, idk if im remembering incorrectly but i had thought therounded dome station lights havent been one/had power for some time. i made a post in the semi recent past, as i was at the park and saw people walking around and messing with the electrical, maybe they were reconnecting services in preparation to do this, rather than disconnecting them. Totally couldve been unrelated too, Im gonna track my post about it down and repost here
  20. WOW, absolutely impressed! this retheme is exactly the kind of reserved but effective theming Cedar Fair parks need to strive for and should continue to invest in! curious how many "outpost" and "southern yellow pine" references, clearly management still knows what the community loves lol
  21. maybe potentially legalities too in having a live feed on contractors working, dunno but it wouldn't surprise me if they don't want to be shown working on a live feed
  22. am I insane or is that totally a cat?
