  1. That's me for Holiday World. I don't spend my dollars at a place that edits out an entire era and its hardest, most innovative workers at the time.
  2. If you READ that second link, you'd find many educated workers are no longer middle class...because they earn too much to be--but in many cases it took two incomes to rise out. And the wealthy don't necessarily spend in proportion to their wealth. Be that as it may, if Disney "cost too much," its profits would decline or disappear.
  3. $50 in 1998 is the equivalent of $72.80 now. Not to mention all the improvements put in the parks since then. I submit it isn't Disney that has a middle class problem, but rather the USA itself: http://m.dailykos.com/stories/1461352 And discussed intently beginning with the June 13, 2015 posts here: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php/topic/30707-disney-world-updates/page-3
  4. ...and the other is at Conneaut Lake Park. The futures at both parks are iffy. Get there if they are open and you at all can...
  5. And in both cases, those who knew typically said nothing or gave vague hints the year before. For many reasons, proprietary information is best held close to the vest. Sometimes, what is about to happen seems so outlandish, one can openly discuss it as hearers will openly dismiss it. There was the time that on closing day at Kings Island several at a Mexican restaurant were told that Top Thrill Dragster was going to be topped-already--by Six Flags--by 28 feet--and the new coaster would be the tallest, fastest roller coaster in the world. The table guffawed. I think the actual TABLE even guffawed. And then...
  6. ....and one poster was right....the rest were in denial. That would never happen. But....it did.
  7. The comment is you'd best make it THIS season. 2016 is a virtual certainty. Future years may or may not include Hartland...
  8. Well, let's let the younguns know Zodiac was actually a huge double ferris wheel, with each at opposite ends of a long arm--so while one was being unloaded and loaded, the other could cycle.
  9. Just a reminder. That ten years is now more than half gone. Four more, and then?
  10. Some interesting thoughts here...
  11. Make 2016 your year for great adventure at New Jersey's Finest Theme Park. More Flags! More FUN!
  12. I'm not sure why I'd be laughing. Silly me, I thought parks wanted to take peoples' money. Leave it to Hartland to have things bass ackards. Then again, they did take Kentucky taxpayer incentives, then charge Tennessee and Indiana people LESS to get in.
  13. Fewer in a year than live in DC. And they could have had another DC visitor last year--but chose instead to keep that visitor outside their gates.
  14. It appears that now no one is getting email notifications. That's been confirmed. This makes it impossible to reach those who no longer go to the forums and actively look. It also makes making sure people see PM's if they do visit difficult.
  15. Anyone interested in a long, detailed history of The Story of Q and Mr. Raynor OR How Dick Kinzel Got Thwarted In His Efforts To Collect Incredible Parting Gifts, see: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php/topic/20462-cedar-fair-sale-re-finance-what-next/ This may be the best, ongoing history of that saga extant.
  16. Given that I was not just turned away, but aggressively verbally assisted by two security 'gentlemen,' I would not test these people. In my opinion, it wouldn't be prudent. It doesn't take much to manufacture a reason to detain a person. Not getting into a park is one thing...,
  17. And another thread from the past worth reading given what we know now...
  18. The movie was painful at the time. I was livid at Disney for many, many years at that travesty. I'm even more upset with them now for trying to bury it. "Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it."
  19. Doing what I do, I need to post in this thread with care. The park 45 minutes away from me is the one least likely to see me visit, except maybe to--as this year--get a season pass. I visited Kings Island five times this year. I really need to get to NJFTP and SFNE in 2016. Camden if it is open. There's a storm to be chased (the park would want me to mention its name--but since they didn't see fit to let me in--I won't), there's tea to be drank with the Alabama matriarch. The manager of Dorney Park would love to see me add to his attendance figures, and I'd love to do that. And out west, Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, B.C.'s Playland, Silverwood and the Disneyland Resort (which also means adding Magic Mountain) all beckon. Where will I actually get to? Kings Island and Alabama are the true musts...if at all possible, if I can see my way there.
  20. So...Terp will doubtless be in Alabama during that Nights thing.
  21. As opposed to a post by a 12 year old? Terp, who likes to ask questions.
  22. Incidents like this one should be watched closely by Kentucky Kingdom: http://www.wtsp.com/story/news/nation-now/2015/12/27/no-arrests-after-2000-teens-fight-louisville-mall/77948156/ 2000 teens fighting shut down Louisville mall...
