Kings Island to Overhaul Children's Area for 2006
PCW_Nut replied to ZosoBeast's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
"Guests enter the adventures of Bikini Bottom through a pineapple under the sea to experience SpongeBob SquarePants’ underwater world." Personally I do not think you guys are getting the Boating School ride you all hope for, this to me sounds like a walk through. I also think it's not the crash course as if it were, I think it would be first to be mentioned in the Press Release, but that's where Avatar is mentioned...so, who knows. -
Well here's the PCW FearFest site..just went up today. http://www.canadas-wonderland.com/fearfest/index.cfm
-
Hey just to let you guys know there is a new FearFest site up for PCW's first ever FearFest. I haven't seen if PKI's site is up or not, but here's the link for PCW. http://www.canadas-wonderland.com/fearfest/index.cfm Enjoy...if you dare.muahahah (sorry, trying to get into the hallow'een mood early) - Josh

Ya took like an hour to upload them lol. And coastergirl by all means come on up, but I will be honest, it was pretty crowded later that day but most people were in the Waterpark thankfully lol.
-
Ya, are park has been quite clean this year. I've really been impressed with the operation of the park in 2005. Thanks for the compliments.
-
Sorry for the delay you guys but I've had so much to do lately. Anyways, as promised, here is my massive galler of photos from August 6th 2005 at PCW. Enjoy, and yes, there are photos of 5 car trains on Vortex. I got practically shots of every ride in the parks except for maybe 2. http://tinyurl.com/dgs2v Please no duplication of these photos without my permission and if you wish to have a wallpaper version (without the copyright) all you gotta do is ask. - Joshua McLachlan

Silly question but, how do you know for sure? Besides, I was just suggesting it as a good location, I know other divisions use that, but it would still be a PERFECT are for a house. BTW, Wonder Mountain is our Eifel Tower so to speak. It's our center piece.
-
Dont forget about the possibility of a house or even two to be in the storage unit of WonderMountain...perfect place for one of these attractions.
-
Ya, that's the only thing that sucks is for us, it's extra even WITH a season pass.
-
I am so happy PCW has FearFest but since I am going to be attending this for the first time, I have what may be a silly question. Are you able to enter the houses and attractions multiple times? We have a haunted house out here each year called Screamers (a collection of 5 highly themed houses) but you can only go into each house once and they stamp your card so you can't go in again, is FearFest like this? Please say no.

Why? The way I see it you guys have gotten Hypersonic and Ricochet since 2001, PKI has recieved Reptar and IJ:ST. I think PKD has the better of that situation so I don't know what your complaining about. PKD has a meager 2 million guests per year compared to PKI's 3.5 million a year. If anyone deserves a big sweet coaster its PKI more than PKD. Then again looking at all the Paramount parks, PGA deserves a new large coaster if for nothing else out of pity. They are by far the worst in the franchise and have had two major coasters removed without having one added. Both PKI and PKD should count their blessings that they aren't the red headed step child. I think personally if any Paramount park needs a big coaster, it's PCW as well. I mean look at us, our tallest attraction is Drop Zone. However, I am not one of those that belive since its 200+ft its a good ride. I mean I would love a hyper, or mega, but I am not holding my breath, even though PCW has one of the better attendance records out there. I mean last year (or the year before I cant remember) our attendance jumped 30+percent.
-
I don't doubt wonderland would add a good coaster, i am just doubful they will add it this soon after their largest investment yet with IJ. However, last year did our attendance not rise like 35% which is pretty big increase.
-
If we are all to belive it, we need some photos. Please, for the love of god, get us some photos lol.
-
Its all a matter of perspective I think. I've never been to PKI so I cannot judge completely, but I would say, if you want flat rides and a couple good coasters in a nicely maintained park then come to PCW. If you want coasters and some flats in what I hear is also a nicely maintained park, then go to PKI. It's really only a matter of prefference. I say do both, why not. lol
-
One question i wanted to ask was why did Minebuster confuse you? lol, I was most curious about that part. I think the one thing PCW has over other Paramount parks is its flats. Honestly, we do have some of the most varied and amazing flats out there. PKI has us beat in the coaster department, however we do have, I belive its now 13 or 14 coasters...technically speaking of course lol.

Oh i bet it is...I wish I could ride it...I was planning on coming down there this summer, but now my ride bailed on me, and bussing it is gonna be a pain in the arse let me tell ya. Anyone wanna come pick me up? lol

PCW May 23, 2005, Trip Report So this is now my third time going to the park this year and I couldn’t be happier. After a little traffic delay on the way up (mainly a car that decided to turn itself into a convertible by driving under a semi. can we say ouch?) we finally arrive at the park for about 9am. We park, get in, chillax a bit and then go to wait with the growing crowd by Skyflier. Our goal was to hit IJST first but that plan was soon averted when the ride was not open. People starting lining up for it from the entrance to the ride all the way back to the arcade. So we passed on that ride saying we’ll come back later. Instead, I decided to take my friend onto Tomb Raider. He never got a chance to ride it last year, not that he was really missing it, so we go over, its not opened right away but after a 2 minute wait it opens. We get on, we suffer, we get off and vow to never do it again, the less said about Tomb Raider the better. Next up we hit Psyclone and Sledge Hammer. Both of these rides are great, but Psyclone takes the edge for sure. Sledge Hammer looks so much more impressive then it is to ride it. Oh well, still a somewhat fun ride. After that we walked around, played some games and I won both games. Word of warning, you see me at a park playing the water gun game, stay away because I OWN the water gun games. We decided to check out the new School Of Rock show. Gotta say, it’s a very well done show. Nothing spectacular but very good vocals especially from the women, WOW, why they aren’t on Canadian Idol I’ll never know. But good show, captured the essence of the movie fairly well. Grabbed a bite to eat as we starting to get real hungry and then back to IJST we go. Well, guess what folks, its broken down AGAIN. It’s alright though as we decided to wait it out. We started new the entrance and about 90minute later we were on the ride. Seat 1.1, first time in the front for me, different ride experience for sure, way more airtime. Pyro effects were off but other then that, it’s still a great ride. I believe that was the end of our day. After that hit Dave and Busters as it’s got a great deal on there now. 18.99 for a $10 play card and a full size entrée dinner. Quite a good bargain as their food is amazing. Well that’s it, till next time, which will be July 11th, enjoy PCW.

official stats: 2002 - Mondial - Giant Pendulum - 40 seats and at full swing its 120ft...so i dont belive its that much smaller then Delerium... Delerium is Huss Giant Frisbee 50 passangers and 137ft at full swing...
-
Maybe my eyes are bad or something, but I didn't notice it. I am looking at two different pictures and still can't figure out what you are talking about. They look the same to me.
-
Psclone is actually just about the same size as the Huss Giant Frisbee so its not small by no means. Shockwave is a Mondial Top Scan. Ya we do have a great selection of flats, its the best part of our park. And the fact that we had a 30% rise in attendance last year says that many others like our park for that. IJ is a great addition to our park and for the most park, people are enjoying it as well.
-
How is our splashdown different?
-
Ya, PCW is one of those parks that is finally starting to gain interest in a LOT of people. You can see that from some of the pics of the crowds getting into the park. This is my first time taking pics of park so I hope i did a good job lol.

As promised here are my pics from my May 7th trip to PCW. If anyone is willing to host my video let me know. http://www.flickr.com/photos/pcw_nut/

PCW TR: May 7, 2005 “It was the best of times, It was the worst of times†That pretty sums up my day at PCW today. I decided at the last minute to head up to the park as it was just too nice out to stay at home. So, I leave the house at 1pm and arrive up to wonderland just around 2:15pm. Not bad timing if you ask me considering it was all public transit. Upon arriving at the park I was greeted with something I had never seen before. There was a line roughly 30/45 minutes in length just to get through the metal detectors. Now, I am all for the safety so I had no problem waiting, however, the way this was being handled by security and staff was not all the organized. There were 4 detectors for anyone with a season pass or an e-ticket and about 4 or 5 for people without passes or ones buying passes. In total I counted roughly another 10 booths that easily could’ve been open to allow more people through but for some reason they were more concerned about other things. I really just found this a poor way to start my day but as I said, I understand why you need the metal detectors so I am not complaining, just wish they had opened more gates. Once I was in the park about 30minutes later, I decided to check out IJ to see the line. For some reason the park in general was really packed today. I’ve never seen it this busy before this early on in the season but us Canadians know to take advantage of nice weather when we see it because lately, you never know what we’re going to get. Looks like sunny days and warm temps from here on out which is great. So once I get to IJ I notice a full line, right to the entrance area and I contemplate if I should get in or not. I decide not to, then walk around a bit, and think “what they hey its going to be long all day anyways†I go back to the line and start what would be one hell of a wait. I arrived in the line at about 3:05pm (this is important later on). I notice people leaving the line, figure it was no big deal, but also noticed that I hadn’t seen a train launch in about 5 minutes. They announce that the ride is experience “technical delays†and not sure when it will be back up. So here lies the ultimate dilemma, wait in line or leave and try something else. I opt for waiting because I figure more and more people will leave, and indeed they did. In about an hour I was already through the tunnel and snapping more pics of IJ. Out of nowhere a test train launches (oh btw all three trains are now at the park but only 2 are running as of now), and then another. We all cheer and clap and celebrate, then it happens, the ride breaks down AGAIN. So, now its been just over an hour and I am at the 30min point in the line, give or take. 30min later the ride starts up again, one, two, three test trains *all with no pyro effects on* and then they start loading. YAY the line is moving naturally again, I opt for the normal line because I know for a fact that single ride line is pointless unless single riders end up in the main entry. I am about to get to the bridge, the train launches, pryos are on again, trains gets to the brake line and then it happens again, the ride is down. GRRRRR, at this point I am starting to get upset, but deicide I am almost there. Ride starts up again, and seems to be running smooth, pyro, splash down, everything, YAY. I finally get in, take seat 3.2 and off we go. Like PCW_Skyrider I notice more this ride then I did on my first. The air time is great when you don’t hold on, I loved it. Also, during the helicopter scene there’s more water effects going off now on the right hand side. They basically spray the right hand passengers with water more. So, if you want heat, stay on the left, want wetness stay on the right basically. Launch into the tunnel, splash down, and we’re done. Its official, this is now my favorite coaster I’ve been on. There are still no stair effects and still did not notice the fishtailing but its all good. I’ve got on ride video as well and once I find somewhere to post it I will let you. So I finally leave the ride at around 5:50 so basically a 3 hour wait for the ride and it was worth every second. After that, I walked around the park a bit more, spent a dollar on the water cannon at White Water Canyon for the fun of it, then I head over to Cliffhanger to see how its running this year. Cliffhanger is indeed running a new cycle this year and I LOVE IT. At one point you are hung upside down right at the bottom and they swing the entire ride back and forth a couple of times. It is truly a new intense element that I love. I cannot wait to ride when the water is in full effect. That sums up my day. I only wanted to get a couple rides in anyways and some photos which I did. Other then the line for the security and the IJ mishaps, I had a great time. Oh, all of the season pass holders should pick up they plastic souvenir cup this year. $4.99 for the first drink and $0.99 for refills the rest of season. That is a great deal if you ask me. Oh, one thing I forgot, the guy in the Mexican restaurant near the front gate was SOOOO slow and stingy on the toppings for the people in front of it was horrible. Hey latterly was picking up the meat one piece at a time and it was nuts, when she asked for more cheese he put like 2 little shreds of cheese on. For 9 dollars park guests should be able to have food falling off their plates. I’ll never understand the prices of food in parks, its nuts. I guess when you are all the people have to choose from the you can charge anything you want as they will have no choice but to pay. Well, till next time. Picture and video links will follow sometime soon. Setting up my knew PCW site as you read this so please bare with me. Anyone with good name suggestions for my site please let me know. - Josh
