DeloreanRider, just remeber, the old food employee and random guests know way more about TRTR than you and if they were there the park would be a zillion times better
-
I would like to see the numbers for that one. Especially since Racer has double the capacity against any ride at any time. Your not taking into account how the block system works. Like DeLoreanRider said, it takes a darn good crew to get that thing moving at its best, and Marketing Express was one of those "darn good" crew members at one time.

Maybe the park should make that a little better well known to their patrons especially when they advertise and market the park as a "family destination", want to have an event for older folks, make that known in your advertising, not just on some big wooden signs righ tbefore the gates AFTER you've paid for parking.

No, he's not saying that at all, your just trying to warp his words to make some sarcastic point. All he was saying is that both flumes were accumulating a great deal of maintenance costs and for KI it at the time it made sense to renovate the smaller one and give it new life as a re-themed kids attraction where as they saw very little future in KCKC which was experiencing dwindling ridership and could use the land as room for a new attraction. Now I'm sure since you were a 1980's foods employee if you were in command of the park it would be in much better condition today with it under your wonderful guidance but thats not how it turned out. If you check out the link to Great Adventures flume I posted earlier you can see that they rehabbed their Hydroflume in a similar fashion to our Kings Mills log flume and even that didn't hold up for long. You know, you always knock Paramount yet have nothing to compare it to. Try visiting the park and see how Debt loaded Cedar Fair is doing things, you may be surprised that Cedar Fair may not be any better than the old Paramount folks, although you haven't even visited KI under Cedar Fair's ownership, nor have you been to KI or CP in years.

Not according to your theory.
-
Even SOB contains quite a few steel supports for extra bracing, even more so now due to the state inspectors orders following last years accident so I guess since SOB has some steel supports in it by your theory its a hybrid coaster not a true wooden coaster.

KCKC and the other hydroflumes werent found to be thrilling (which was the point of their design) or entertaining in comparisson to other attractions and water rides that could be foudn in their repsected parks, this lead to low ridership. As seen at KI, CP, and SFGADV.
-
What does the thrill of an attraction have to do with it being removed or not? They werent very thrilling attractions and in their later years did not attract guests like they used do (or in some cases, never did) and usually when a ride is generally viewed as not thrilling by your general guests, that leads to low ridership. Low ridership, high maintenance costs, and being surpassed by other attractions in their own parks are what shut the hydroflumes down.
-
Uhm, SOB wasn't the first to use that similar logo so before you claim anyone is ripping anything off do a little research before you throw your angry caps locked fury upon the internet. The 1997 movie "Anacanda" used a similar logo on their teaser posters and trailers and even the Villain at Geauga Lake (which opened the same year as SOB) has a similar logo with the eyes accomidating the letters. Weird coincidence....Anaconda was a box office flop....SOB is notorious for being an uncomfortobale ride....The Villain is notorious for being an uncomfortable ride....I just hope whoever uses that style logo next has more success.

Last show? I thought it was endless?
-
Sure does, even had the same tell tale sign of low ridership that KI's had....they closed one side of the drop. Simply put, the hydro flumes were not that thrilling of attractions.
-
Even Six Flags Great Adventure removed their hydroflume. http://www.amusementpics.com/Hydro%20Flume.htm
-
And to compare the maintenance done on a few horses per year to the cost of maintaining an aging log flume throughout an entire season is like comparing how good the food was in the 80's to how it is now.

Shouldn't this topic be about Geauga Lake? -Gordon Bombay, cold even though its not hockey season.

A US Mom Writes of Wonderland
Gordon Bombay replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Hey Cedar Fairl; remember the old saying "You get what you pay for?" That doesn't seem to be applying to the guests but that saying does say something for your latest 1.2 billion dollar investment. -

Hey Kinzel, are you listening to the guests through the ears on your arrogant head? I remember user WooferBearATL and I talking one time about the history of the Taft parks (he is a former KI employee, pre-paramount), he once told me as far as food service Wonerland was the best designed and well laid out park in accordance with its sister park Australia's Wonderland. I wonder if the food they serve at the parks they aquired is the same stuff Kinzel eats on his platter in his office. -
And we have the facts about the low ridership from what source? Was it not true that this same reason has been used for the removal of many rides and was uhhh, essentially not true. The fact is that Paramount wanted to remove the ride and put in a Top Spin. Done. Was their park they did what they wanted. Yep, Paramount was just out to irk everyone off and ruin all of our lives. Paramount would not have removed the ride unless it was beneficial to keeping it in so obviously the ride was not reliable in some fashion whether it was pulling in riders, maintenance, etc. The ride was one of the first to close whn staffing was low and employees were needed elsewhere, if it was pulling in riders and a it was a key attraoction in its later years I dont think the operations staff would have done that if it was so amazing like everyone made it out to be. Listen to woofer kids, Paramount is out to get you all! They got him!

I'm pretty sure thats asphalt in the picture, its just a very bright picture and seems like its a little over exposed.

Some people find hapinness in other things. He didn't waste your time so why do you care. He could probably say you and I waste just as much time posting on a fansite about a local park and the hours we spend browsing this site dont go to charity. I wonder if when the park shut down for the night if they stopped running the coaster and he slept on it or if they kept it going through the night. Delorean Rider and I have spent late nights working at parks for special ERT's but we never had to go all night.

The back of the Paramount Theatre looks pretty ugly and its one of the first things you see, however the front is very beautiful. I remember riding KCKC as a kid and it scaring the absolute crap out of me. That lift hill was very intimidating for a 7 year old.
