  1. Hmmm well lets see and read the topic, Elmer Fudd went there and found one, and Top Gun was hte only one who couldnt. They're there, but not at every kiosk area.
  2. My friend and I were up at the Kings Island Inn and Conference center today to shoot the photographs of some of our friends who were putting on a play for some teachers in service lunchen there and when we were done we drove over to GWL to get lunch and look for the map, the first brochure rack didn't have them, it still had the general brochures (as did the mcdonalds off of kings mills) but the next rack we found did have the park maps.
  3. Posted in many of the numerous other X flight/Firehawk topics. Please check other threads before you post the same thing.
  4. Wow! This is pretty cool, thanks for sharing!
  5. Yes, flightoffear499, please listen to what we posted yesterday. Please, use the search feature beofre you create a new topic. Topic closed....for further Firehawk discussions please see the numerous other Firehawk threads.
  6. For future refrence flightoffear499, please use the forums search feature before starting a topic of similar nature. It has been posted in numerous topics and numerous threads about what will be happening at GL in 07. Just to answer the question: Steel Venom, the monorail, and X flight have been/are being removed and the park will be receiving some new aesthetically pleasing features, picnic areas, and games to create a more family friendly atmosphere. No new rides this year.
  7. ^Incorrect, Adam has apicture of the one zoom lense thing covered up, however the second one was not and eventually both could be used, one was just getting fixed. I was with Klockster when he took that picture.
  8. Yeah, like some Area 51 bathrooms, theres no restrooms in that area at all. It's oging to be itneresting to see how congested that bottleneck under Racer gets with two major attractions there.
  9. I think it would be cool if they added a control tower.
  10. Maureen stated that the neighboring maintenace buildings will be receiving some fresh coats of paints and schemes that will go along with theme but she didn't go into great detail. We'll just have to wait and see. I wish they would do some sort of theatrical lighting, i love the old school running lights on the lift hills of Vortex and Racer but I think for an example; Vortex would look pretty asthetically pleasing if it had some neat multi colored lights under its structure giving it a better image at night. Same could be done with a ride like Top Gun, if you put some neat lights out there for night rides or if you lit up the Son of Beast lift hill from under the structure.
  11. Well no one can really say wheteher it was a safety feature or not that stopped the ride since all the full details of the accident arent really known.
  12. Yeah Paramount really shot the guests in the foot, constant golden ticket awards and high rankings by amusement today in attendance for the past 6 years really showed that guests werent coming because of Paramount. Everyone is so quick to criticize but really no one has any room to complain. Like its been pointed out on here bt Stevo3631 before.....Paramount did bring the chain back together and Paramount kept the parks open. It had been made clear by Carl Linder that KECO was not doing well and he had no more interest in his dealings with Keco. Had Paramount not come in annd re-unified the chain then we may very well have Six Flags over Cincinnati which judging by the other SF parks I've been to thats not necesrily a god thing, although I cant speak for SFGAdv's reputation. Like Maureen said, the park is basically getting two new coaster this year with the addition of Firehawk and all the work being done on Son of Beast. I think the sign out front is the last of their worries.
  13. Adobe Flash Player www.adobe.com
  14. I think that depends on whos still holding the reins of the chain. It's obvious that CF has made som arrogant decisions in the past and has had a pretty arrogant attitude that hasn't always shaped out well for them. With Kinzel right now I dont see them ignoring parks like KI and Wonderland that do very well but I still see them catering to CP a lot more. I do want to point out that while it looks good on paper the number of guests a park draws is not really the important figure here. Cedar Point makes a LOT more money then Kings Island. This is from a number of factors. First guests spend more money on average at Cedar Point then Kings Island. Also Cedar Fair owns a lot of other attractions in the area. This includes the marina, several hotels, and the separate water park. If Kings Island brought in as much money as Cedar Point (and I doubt it could without hotels owned by Cedar Fair) then you might see as big of installs. According to Cedar Fair the amount of money a park gets spent on improvements is based on the profits made at the park not attendance. Do you have a link to the actual figures of how much each park makes?
  15. ^YOu bring up a valid point and a good idea sir and the park used to sell cigarettes. However I dont think the problem is with people bringing them in, guests are more than welcome to smoke in the park, the whole park is not smoke free, it does have designated areas. A few of those areas just could use better placement for the conveinence of both smokers and guests a like. The KI system works great.....but....only when its enforced.
  16. What personal freedoms are gone? You still have your basic freedoms of the constitution. Seriously, smoking is NOT a necessity and it does AFFECT THE PEOPLE AROUND YOU whether its causing 2nd cancer, which is still being debated, just bothering someones asthma, or the smell and trash getting in someones way. The government has the right to tell me where I can and cant use my firearms, and they have the right to tell you where you can and can not smoke! Its not going to kill you to have stricter designated areas in any way. I dont believe there is any possitive evidence that proves 2nd hand smoke is killing someone, however I have the right to not be affected by your private choice on public domain. My father personally choose to own a firearm, however he does not that the right to wield it on public property. SOB_TOM really needs to stop playing up this arrogant bulls**t argument that the government has become some facist organization taking away our freedoms like its a dypostian George Orwell future, theyre telling you to smoke elsewhere because the rest of us dont want to be bothered by your personal habit. Get over it, the law OVERWHELMINGLY passed in 72 out of 87 counties here in this fine state. Your being told to take your personal habit that affects others without their consent elsewhere, and instead your trying to make the government appear as if theyre acting like Big Brother in the novel 1984, they're not, its a fair law, and your trying to warp it. Boddah1994 has presented the perfect point on how smokers should view this law. His only issue is with certain organizations like Truth and Stand who at times can be very misleading, he has no trouble compling with law and I've been good friends with him before, after, and during it passed and when he decides to take a smoke break when we're together theres no extra hoops he has to jump through. Outcasts from society? Tom, I know you on a personal level and do like you, but honestly that is the stupidest, stupidest argument I ever heard! Outcasts? Are you kidding me. This isnt nazi germany where they made the Jews live in Ghettos and this isnt the heat of the civil rights movement where we had seperate drinking foutnains and dining facilities. Smoking is a personal choice that is NOT a neccesity for you to keep living. No one is being outcasted, just asked to take their habit elsewhere, and if they dont want to do that theres ways (ways even provided for FREE by the state of OHIO for them to kick that habit) The Jews couldnt stop being Jewish and the African Americans could'nt just change the color of their skin, those attrocities of the second world war and civil rights movement caused those people to be outcasts based on unjust factors about their culture, heritage, and make up that they couldnt change! You can change from being a smoker to a non smoker! Are smokers out casts because of the law? Only becuase they chose to be by choice! Stop trying to make it look like you and those who chose to smoke are being persecuted and infringed upon by the government because that is total bull. Its as simple as this. Truth and Stand try to warp the views, as do arrogant pro-smokers such as yourself but this is where it stands and its very, very simple: Smoking affects the citizens around you without their consent. Whether it may be 2nd hand lung effects (proven or unproven), a bad smell, allergies, eye irritation, or a million other factors. THe general population (those who approve the law in the vote) dont want to be bothered by it. If you choose to smoke go right ahead, just follow the rules and dont bother those who dont want any part of it. When Im with Ryan or firends at work who smoke they go to their area, and I can chose to go with them or not.
  17. With all due respect good woofer, but someone who was a food service supervisor knows more about marketing, running, upgrading, promoting, and all the other business aspects of running a 5 property theme park chain than the people Paramount Communications brought in? Not trying to be dis-respectful and even though they may not have had that much experience, what makes you more qualified, and so ready-able to criticize? Like Interpreter said, better an expansion each year than an SLC and six flags over the park. I dont like everything Paramount did but Id rather have them than Premeier, Six Flags, Tierco.
  18. With CF taking over is there any change PGA could stay open year round like KBF does?
  19. On the contrary Tom, the law that was passed had guidelines that were able to be viewed online and through the mail before you voted, the only guidelines that were still being debated on where the punishments that could be delivered, however guidelines as to where smoking would be allowed and other aspects were there and quite available. You live in Kentucky so I dont see why this bothers you that much, every time I hang out with Ryan in Ohio he has no problem following the law. What major inconveinences has this law caused YOU when your in Ohio? In response to what you said earlier there is now law in place nor any plan to ban smoking in the privacy of their own homes! This law has not been as drastic and life ruining as you make it out to be, very little has been changed since most businesses had similar rules in place already. Whether or not 2nd hand smoke kills is quite a debate with many sides but regardless smoking does affect others. While walking into the mall the other day some raggety chick-fil-a employee was having a smoke right in front of the violation sign which states smoking must be performed on the parking garage, not under the over hang right next to the door. I had just come from shooting photos near Springdale and had a nice shirt and tie on, I dont care if somone wants to smoke and affect themselves but I dont need the smell in my clothes and I dont need the trash on the ground. I threw away my Coke bottle, why couldnt he throw his cigarette butt in the trash or the ash tray provided next to him? What it comes down to is that Ohio overwhelmingly approved this law not because smoking may or may not be causing 2nd hand cancer but because its a personal habit that gets in the way of other citizens without their consent or choice. If more smokers were more polite about how they went about the habit you wouldnt see such an outcry like this. The law passed overwehlmingly among Ohio citizens and it is here to stay.
  20. Thats because the employees make sure no one takes them up in the elevators iwth them, you reached the 50ft platform by stairs, so it was easier to bring such things as drinks up there. No, there is not, that is not true in any way.
  21. Yeah cause there wont be any line for maverick or anything, while im waiting for Firehawk, ill call you while your in line for maverick and we can compare ques and complain together.
  22. Face Off is an older ride and I don’t think it pulls the numbers it used to. XF had a two hour wait at GL on busy days with 2 trains running. KI has almost three times the guests that GL ever got, you do the math. XF can only do 650 guests an hour (1430 with three trains – but that never happened) when running at peak efficiency with two trains. I recall when FOF and SOB first opened the lines were ridiculous (3+ hours) and these rides are rated at 2000 and 1600 guests per hour! While KI ride ops are great I don’t think it has anything to do with the efficiency of the ride ops – the ride is just a capacity nightmare. But you guys will see soon enough. I'd take a capacity nightmare over losing two great coasters and getting cornhole any day.
  23. 4 hours is a bit of an exageration for a typical day, but just like with any new attraction, there will be long lines.
  24. What difference does it make whether its a hand me down or not? To the GP, they dont care, they're getting a new attraction, I dont see why some coaster enthusiasts think its such a big deal.
  25. Originally the park had plans to open up and construct a new campground that would be upgraded and feature some of the same amenities that the newer one Carowinds has, immediately following the Great Wolf Lodge construction. What you need to understand is that while the campground was a very successful aspect of the park, the GWL oppourtunity was a great chance for the park to expand and improve itself, and they took the opportunity as it presented itself and the campground land was sold due to its location and how the land was developed. But dont mis-judge the park....they had full intention of constructing a new campground that would have been there this season. However as CBS gained control of Paramount those plans were scrapped due to the insane budget cuts of CBS and with the aquisition of 1.2 billion dollars of debt for Cedar Fair, i dont think the campground was the first thing on their minds, however it wouldnt surprise me at all if a campground returns eventually. Btw, about how much does it cost to fill up your RV if you dont mind me asking?
