What safety reasons are those? I can understand from the platform so as not to distract ride operators or get in the way of operations or the train moving but I was in the queue line when an operator at x flight shouted at me from the platform. Granted, I have no problem complying with the rule and I oput my camera away, but as a former ride operator myself I just dont see the need for such a rule.

We went up on a friday in July I think. The night before we stayed in Aurora ohio....one of the most depressing towns I've ever been in. It was a nice city, but everyone looked so so so so so so sad. I think she was just a regualr ride op, she was driving while the other girl checked. GL wasnt a bad park, it has some issues to work out, but not a bad park at all. And whats with that rule where you cant take photographs in line? I kept getting yelled at for that.

Went last year with fellow staff from PKIC, X flight was the best thing we rode, villain was horribe, the girl who was running double loop was very cute, everything else hurt. Except for that wonderful Big Dipper.

Keep in mind: noweher has it been confirmed that this is the new logo or that the passes will even look like this considering everyone has vouchers and no physical passes. These could just be mock ups like the ones used at the end of the last season. So unlike everyone wants to assume, it has not been confirmed that everything paramount is gone, nor has it been confirmed that this is the new logo.

According to Jeff Seibert the original plans were to eventually build a new campground similar to Carowinds new one behind Son of Beast and if you ask some enthusiasts; they think that spot behind FOF is for a new campground and that X flight is going to MIA.
-
^No, they were advertising the KI maxx pass with the Paramount logo and the film reel like the old one, but what that site is linked to is the way they are looking for other parks as well.
-
How is that the Kings Island logo? I doubt they'd use the Cedar Fair symbol with the name anywhere besides the pass, none of the other parks do this.

Let's Revisit "HOLIDAYFEST" at The Beach
Gordon Bombay replied to marlfox_21's topic in Trip Reports
Marlfox, congratulations on your engagement and best wishes to you and your fiance! Like RZ said, last night we went to the Beach's Holidayfest and I am very glad I didn't have to pay much. When I pulled up the sign said parking was 5.50, luckily I'm a AAA member and for me I got half off of parking (i had forgotten I was even in AAA untill I saw the sign). While we waited for the rest of our group a very nice gentleman handed us extra tickets that he didn't need so we got in for free. I think the Beach does a nice job but holiday events just really arent my thing. I didn't care for winterfest, I cant stand festival of lights at the zoo, and Holidayfest didn't do much for me either. The Tobogan ride was fun yet horribly frightening at the same time. The park had lights everywhere which made it look great. The beach does a great job of transforming pools and slides, into petting zoos, nativity scenes, and activities. The lazy river paddle boat ride had the longest line so we just had to wait in it...after about a good 15-20 minutes we we're ready to board our paddle boat. Myself and Ryan (Boddah1994) were in front of Bill (zosobeast) and Robbie (CoastersRZ) during the (mis)adventure. We were able to get the idea of driving a paddle boat down pretty fast and found it pretty easy to do so, however the three groups of pre-teens in front of us found this really challenging and kept getting their boats stuck forcing beach employees to come out and help them. One thing that surprised me was how much room there is in the trough for the boats, we were able to race boats and pass eachother as well as unintentionally (yeah right) ram into robbie and bills boat. Overall it's a great event for families and young kids but it just didn't do much for me however the beach did a great job and I admire the employees on the paddle boat ride for their pateince with working the paddle boats and how eventhough in the cold and having to deal with isiots who couldn't drive the boats, they were not rude to guests at all. Kudos to the beach. -Regards, Ronny "I bet every employee who works here is hot because they're all lifeguards in the summer" -
^Correct, however when it was wings, it was not the same rib meat, but when it was sit down and quality, it was the same. I'm surprised Montgomery Inn kept sponsoring that crap when it changed. I believe M.I. ribs were served in the IR too werent they?
-
100% incorrectly interpreted! Not only has Wings Diner served Montgomery Inn ribs up until the transformation into a buffet, IR also featured Montgomery Inn catering during last year's Winterfest. You might want to find something new to interpret! He was saying that the "Montgomery Inn ribs" served at Wings were just branded that way featuring the montgomery inn sauce. The quality of food at the actual Mongtomery inn boat house compared to wings diner was quite a strong contrast. While the sauce was the same, the meat was not. You didn't get the same food you could get at The Boathouse or the REAL montgomery inn. Interpreter didnt say that montgomery inn ribs were never suerved there, they were montgomery inn, just not the same as the real ones. Maybe you should find a different bible to write.

Yes, that song thats played is "Freedom" by Rage Against the Machine, except the opening verse is edited out, and for good reason.

What New Attraction Can We Expect From Cedar Fair
Gordon Bombay replied to RailRider's topic in Coming Attractions
condos are usually built with beautiful location in mind too. -
^I'll second what shman said, a lack of talented musicians was definently not the case in any situation at the School of Rock show. PKIC had the wonderful oppourtunity of speaking with Scott Hayward, one of the entertainment employees, many times and got to meet several of the actors. There were a few times in the season when you would even see the actors switch instruments and roles and they always did a fine job. As a musician myself every now and then I would notice little musical slips and mess ups on the guitar but those guys always really impressed by how well they recovered and improvised. School of Rock was one of the best darn shows I've ever seen in an amusement park.

^No, the one this topic is about: The Beast 25 years of terror.
-
Is it just me or is that song during the end credits the song from Pirates of the Caribean?
-
I have this thing memorized. Don Helbig....nicest enthusiast and park guest ever to step foot in Paramount's Kings Island!
-
^It would all depend on how and what they re-opened it as.
-
And how do you know it was Paramount that changed the name? I think it was just called the carousel room because when we were in there thats all we could think to call it since theres no markings giving different names to the rooms. That one just had the carousel horses in it, so we nicknamed it the carousel room. I dont think theres a paramount exec somewhere taking a leak on a plaque that says "taft suite". Like JZ said, I kid you, because I like you.
-
Yes, but with a very limited and expensive menu, and I believe the food was catered in by an outside company, not prepared by the park.
-
^In the Kitchen.

^Thats a misconception, but your not that wrong. Stealth, was originally slated for PKI instead of PGA. Park manager at the time, Tim Fischer rejected the idea and concept in favor of eventually developing the SOB concept to a reality. The Stealth concept then went to PGA and the first flying dutchman was born. Paramount had made agreements with Vekoma to eventually purchase two more flying dutchmen for their other parks. After Stealth had so many problems, paramount broke off the agreemetn with Vekoma and although payed vekoma to develope plans and designs for two more models, decided not to build any more. Six Flags then seized the oppourtunity and purchased the designs and now you have what is known as X flight and Batman KNight Flight. When PP decided to re-locate stealth to build a new waterpark at PGA, the original decision was to move it to PKI. Overburdened with the rising SOB problems, Stealth was rejected a second time by Tim Fischer, and the decision was made to move it to Carowinds.

Oh, you meant KI's Eiffel Tower....there used to be some pictures on guidetotheisland.com and KI used to show a training video to new hires that featured construction video of the eifel tower but I dont remember helicopters in the video. However, the use of a helicopter would nto be unreasonable, I have a VHS video of a helicopter lowering the stop of the Star 64 tower in Cincinati into place.

So whats gonna happen to the discarded loop?
Gordon Bombay replied to StreetStrip03's topic in Kings Island
Where has it ever been confirmed that "new trains" were coming? All the press release said was that the changes were being performed to make way for "lighter trains", those lighter trains, could be current ones re-modified so that they are not as heavy. It would take quite a lot of money to purchase completely new trains, and no one wanted to make trains the first time when there was no accident, whos crazy enough to make trains for that ride now after there has been an accident? -
Are you kidding me? Sure they hear stuff from time to time and get to know certain people like AZ did and so did myself for doing the same work, but in all honesty the ride ops and supervisors are at the bottom of the food chain and any giant corporate secret awesome decisions are not going to be leaked to general seasonal ride ops.
