  1. For some people it's almost hard to believe that it's been eight years since Park River Corporation (current owners of Cincinnati's Coney Island) announced they would be selling Americana/LeSourdsville Lake. While browsing coasterbuzz tonight I came across this... Many people felt that the park which saw a very tough time in the late 80's and early 90's was in the best of possible hands with Park River Corporation at the helm and the announcement that they were selling it came to many as a shock. The park would be purchased by local businessman Jerry Couch and would not re-open until 2002 once again under its original name of "Lesourdsville Lake''. The 2002 season ended early, halloween and christmas events at the park were cancelled and it was announced by owner Jerry Couch that the park was not likely to re-open in 2003. In 2006 he announced that the park would never operate as an amusement park again. Since then many have wondered what the fate of Lesourdsville would have been had Park River Corporation held onto the park. I for one wish they had taken the screeching eagle with them when they left and moved it to Coney. For more information on the history of Americana/Lesourdsville Lake and to see pictures of how the park looked when photographers visited this previous summer please check out the article at my website; Queen City Discovery. Also, heres a video showing how the park looked when it was open during the Park River/Couch years compared to how it looked when we visited in July, 2007.
  2. Unfortunately not, cloud cover was too low that day and the weather was unpredictable. Captain Nemo and his father had to clear the plane with Lunken Airport before making a few laps around Coney.
  3. ^How about acting somewhat mature and trying this... "It is my humble opinion that we are not getting any new ride addition in 2008 due to the fact that there was a rather large addition to the rides line up last year with the addition of Firehawk. We may have seen the end of consistently adding a new ride each season like we did during the Paramount years. For reasons I have not declared, I am not too fond of the majority of users on this forum."
  4. I think the current person in charge of the park is doing quite alright, i'd rather have Greg Scheid than a fictional cartoon charecter.
  5. Topic named changed so as not to be misleading to anyone that this has anything to do with any upcoming United States presidential elections.
  6. Not to mention, although Google maps and aerial views may make it seem that way, I can account that the land back there is not always flat and is home to some very daunting terrain.
  7. ^I've been on those once before, they're great. We hit them up coming back from OU when coming up to where 32 meets 275. Only problem is they're not very close to where I live. Thats why you do the other option of 100 points for 20 bucks. That alone could get you 5 go kart rides. Or you could have done a value pack.
  8. You would? You would what? Be scared to go there or would want to go there?
  9. Chef, we can all be pretty much 100 percent certain that Paramount will be gone, hence the signs gone and if you listen to the hints dropped in the conference calls as well as what certain users who enjoy hockey and the year 1994 have said. Unlike you seem to think judging from past posts, I don't think CF is getting rid of Paramount because they believe its a bad image or scar, its because it doesn't add enough value to them and they can do just fine without it, no reason to spend extra money paying viacom. Now the Nick licensing, that has yet to be seen.
  10. Great Photo TR KiMan! Both of them! Really enjoyed reading them and enjoyed the pictures, it was nice to see some new updates from Beech Bend. Only thing I disliked was the Moeller sweatshirt ( ) but hey, no ones perfect! Did you shoot any guns besides the .22? Back in Athens when things get stressful, my friend and I go out to the range at a local state park with a club and shoot textbooks and other random crap. He owns a Russian made 1943 Mosin Nagant (with a pressed hammer and sickle emblem (the same rifle the russians use in the Call of Duty game series)) that is one of the loudest and most powerful rifles I have ever seen.
  11. I get very limited vacation time and may have to use some of it for a wedding, but depending on what I do I'll either be leaving work for a week to record my bands' second cd or purchasing airfare to new york to stay with family, see the 9/11 memorial/NYC, and visiting Six Flags Great Adventure!
  12. When it opened it had hardly any banked track, adding more banked track and a lot of redesigning of the track was one of the things done by Arrow/KI to try and get it working reliably, however the stress on the shock absorbers was still pretty exterme. The banking was not the issue, it was the lack of banking and the extreme amounts of stress on the shock absorbers.
  13. Despite that song being absolutely awful, that video is pretty well edited. I liked the part with "Ride shut down...stuntmans free fall.....awwww". Whats with the orange vests on employees going up the rolling thunder lift? That 4 line across sky ride looks awesome! Do they operate both sides consistently?
  14. ^I gotta admit, that made me laugh.
  15. Sure thing, go ahead and PM it to me. I'll go through my train stuff when I get back from NJ if I have time before I head back to school. I should be able to.
  16. Even with just one train, no matter how "accurate" it looks, I think it is absolutely awesome what you are doing and can't wait to see the finished product. I have a bunch of left over figures and scenery that I no longer use from when I had a model railroad set. Could I mail you some stuff to contribute to the preserve?
  17. ^That is awesome! I also didn't know that imageshack hosted videos which is cool to know. Train Driver do you plan to detail the trains in any way to make them resemble the KI trains? Also, how many trains will you run?
  18. It is deceiving, the thing doesn't look that good, but it really is quite a fun ride.
  19. Krazy City definitely exceeds expectations. Don't be fooled by neighboring Cincinnati Mills' Wonderpark, which i s geared more towards younger kids as a chuck e cheese rip off and not very entertaining. We had fun. The go karts are a blast, you can drift in them, and skyscraper is more fun than Tomb Raider, imho. The place even has a nice sit down full service restauraunt Although, I'm sure Dane will agree, the excellent smoothies almost rival the fun at Krazy City.
  20. www.youtube.com is the best way, you can create a free acount, then as long as your video is under 100mb and under 10 minutes long then it can be uploaded to there for free. I can host it on my server if its bigger than those and you dont want to reduce quality.
  21. Locker rooms are still available, or atleast they were these past few seasons, you get charged to use the lockers though and they were available upon request from the HR department. Not sure if things have changed since I last heard about it.
  22. Went there last night with Boddah1994, Dane, CoastersRZ, and Captain Nemo. (Expect the photo tr soon). Much to our surprise (we figured we would get bored and end up walking around the mall) we really enjoyed it. The Krazy City indoor amusement park was a blast! It's under good leadership too! The head of operations is a stand up guy and former manager from Kings Island. I can see this place lasting longer than 3 years, prices were reasonable, there was lots of entertainment, I'm sure kids will love it. Don't knock it till you've tried it, we set the bar low and were really surprised. -Gordon Bombay, who is sitting in Columbus International Airport waiting for a flight to Philly, browsing KIC and filling out a TSA customer service review.
