  1. I haven't been to the park real recently so I'm not sure if it is new or not... maybe it's going to announce a new attraction? I know that's what everyone on here is going to say.
  2. That character line-up is incorrect. The different parks have different lineups. For instance, Canada's Wonderland has a press release saying that the Flintstones and Yogi & Boo-Boo will be at their meet & greet show this year. This may very well be just for that show but as I recall they had many more Hanna-Barbera characters up there than we did over the past year or two at PKI. Remember, not all parks got Nick Central right away. (PCW just got theirs last year). They are still phasing in the Nick characters.
  3. April 3rd - Radio/TV Contest Winners & Employee Tickets ONLY - Noon - 8pm April 4th - All 2004 Season Passholders - 10am - 8pm
  4. It shouldn't be too busy... I just picked up my tickets at New Rock 97.3... I submitted one entry but I won twice so I got 4 tickets! I would think for an event like this parking is probably free but if not show your season pass with the parking on it and I'm sure it's free then, I don't know for sure, I would only imagine. By the way, 4000 x 4 = 16,000 not 12,000... all the same, it's still not going to be busy. *** My question is: is the new Magic of the Movies... Live show going to be on (I know it will be on April 9th but I'm wondering about the preview days)?
  5. Just a side note, Canada's Wonderland just posted construction photos of their new Tomb Raider the Ride (flyer) in the media section of their website. https://www.canadas-wonderland.com
  6. I'm pretty sure Canada's Wonderland became a Paramount Park the same time as Kings Island. I lived in Canada at the time and it was a big deal because prior to the sale Canada's Wonderland was 50% Canadian owned and 50% KECO... after the sale it became 100% American owned by Viacom. If someone has sources to the contrary please post.
  7. The pictures are on the rides... pictures with track directly in front of you usually mean you are seated on a train.
  8. Why did they show so much of Universal? Simple... NBC/General Electric owns Discovery Channel and Travel Channel, etc and NBC/General Electric now owns the theme park assets of Vivendi-Universal. They are promoting their own attractions. It was a show about theming... if it was independent they obviously would've showed some Disney attractions. But it was run by the NBC/General Electric/Universal enterprise. Minimize promoting competing attractions. It's the business.
  9. In the article in the Cincinnati Enquirer, Jeff Siebert said there would be more announcements in the month of march... that how everyone knows there's more. It's not because of "overzealous" blah blah... it's because we are going by what information PKI is releasing to the press. It's fact. Not overzealousness. There will be more announcements... Jeff said it... and it's so. Period.
  10. From reading other posts on this site, people seem to think there are two preview days (the 3rd and 4th of April)... this I can't confirm. In regards to the link in the newsletter, I think it's intended perhaps for the upcoming website update and improvement (see other posts regarding this). So it probably doesn't actually have the information available on the site until that time. The gold pass perks I have heard of include: - priority parking - early entrance (to PKI and BB) - Walk on Weekends & and improve ride reservation system - Ride twice - Bring a friend free - discounts on value meals
  11. I think the only reason it may never happen (most of it anyway) is people's perceptions. You think that it's all toasty in the winter in Orlando and LA. Let's take Anaheim and Disneyland as an example. Most of their patrons are local residents that use Disneyland just like we use PKI. The economic and marketing basis for both parks is virtually identical. Secondly, you think people wouldn't like it outdoors in the winter because it's cold. In Anaheim, when you go to Disneyland for Christmas, they are bundled up in ski suits because to them it's so cold. We bundle up the same here. The only reason people wouldn't come to something like that at PKI is because of preconceived perceptions and ideas, as perpetrated in this thread. I'm not saying PKI should be open year round - you can't run Son of Beast and other rides in 10 and 20 degree weather. At least the shopping/entertainment part of it could operate. I mean, as stated by another user, Covington in Cincinnati is outside and so is Easton Town Center in Columbus. However, in the summer I do believe, with the crowds involved, that PKI can support a 2nd gate. Anyone who thinks PKI "can't afford it" is absurd. Have you seen the price of a Coke there? Most companies pay 40 or 50 cents for those bottles of Coke (wholesale) and they charge about $3 to patrons... that alone, with the amount of it they sell, in one day... that would build a new shopping center right there!
  12. I don't think it would be crazy for them to put in something like Universal's CityWalk or Downtown Disney to complement International Street during the winter time. Also, why wouldn't a second theme park be viable? If a theme park can be viable and only be seasonal why couldn't two of them? Then, in the winter you could have International Street, the "CityWalk" area, hotels, an indoor waterpark, IMAX theater and the such open all year. In the summer months, the two theme parks would add to the experience yet again. I think it would be a stretch to see the parking lot converted to a garage but I don't think it would be crazy to see at least some of the following: 1) year round shopping and entertainment complex (themed of course) 2) one or two hotels 3) indoor waterpark/theme park 4) a return of Winterfest for the International Street area While I'm sure these things wouldn't make them as much money as PKI does in the summer months, they would be added revenue - something that is welcomed by any company. The economy for it is there, it just has to be diverted from Cedar Point and Florida and other destinations.
  13. Thought this is an excellent question. May theme park/resorts are trying to make people stay longer (i.e., Cedar Point, Six Flags Worlds of Adventure, Universal Studios Orlando, Disneyland Resort, etc). Will Paramount use this same technique to their advantage to create a full-size resort where people would want to spend multiple days, just like they do when they go to Universal or Disney?
  14. It's interesting that people say building on hilly terrain is next to impossible. That is simply not true. Look at Universal Studios Hollywood - they have a huge escalator system that takes about 15 minutes to navigate separating the two major sections of the theme park. Also, San Diego Zoo and many other zoos are on varying terrain. That is not an obstacle. In regards to it being a nature reserve, I don't believe any of the land actually owned by Paramount Parks is in the nature reserve. I recently read an article, I believe from a paper in Cincinnati, where an official stated they still have about 400 acres to develop. He wouldn't have stated the they could develop there if it was a reserve. The official's name escapes me.
