  1. Assuming we're talking about the same thing: Wasn't that game just housed in a converted trailer, though? The front half flipped up and it was pretty much ready to go, whereas this would be an installation. Not that throwing up a wall and some nets would take too long either
  2. At the end of the last school year, Fairfield High School (whoo!) put on the first amateur production of Starlight Express. While discussing it recently with a friend of mine who was involved, she mentioned that some of the costumes were originally used in a show at--where else?--Kings Island. My first visit to the park was just two or three years ago, but I certainly don't recall any such costumes in use. Here's a photo from the show, found on the Costume Castle website, which was the provider of all the costumes. I suppose it's feasible that the park sold the outfits to them when the show ended, but I'd love for someone to set this straight. Thanks!
  3. I've seen people do this. Makes me want one I don't see how a PVC pipe cut to the specified height would work any better than a marked wooden pole--or if it does, the difference would be trivial. At least as far as accuracy goes, I can't imagine the swinging bar going anywhere. Now, to go find myself a pole and rubber foot...
  4. Not originally. Walt just wanted a place for families to enjoy themselves--kids and parents alike. When Disneyland first opened, there was next to no Disney theming (think Frontierland, Main Street, etc.). Even attractions that were based on Disney properties were more focused on the feeling than the brand: the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse, for example, is less about the story and more about the experience of such a lifestyle. Of course, the Man got the best of the Disney parks and now we have things like Tarzan's treehosue, complete with vile mannequins in the once-enchanting structure (in Disneyland, anyway). For more bitterness, you might find this blog fascinating.
  5. I'm so glad to see that other people think like I do in terms of theme park priorities. The first thing I'd do is scout for new talent--original shows and entertainment with fresh concepts. I'd also tighten up the theming in all the areas, and add some weenies to the park--aside from the Eiffel Tower (and of course, most of the coasters), there really aren't any, are there? The area in Rivertown where they used to take the old-time photos (I think that's what was there; near the Wild Thornberrys ride) needs some attention. I'd probably add an enclosed theatre there. Also, new dark rides. Plenty of 'em. And a few more concert festivals at Timberwolf, especially indie bands--there hasn't been a good concert there since Modest Mouse, and that was what, two years ago? On that note, the amphitheatre is owned and operated by CF, right? I could see it being managed by an external booking company or something similar, and just happening to be part of the park.
  6. I hate ordering things. This is mostly in the order I thought of them. And of course, mine are not limited to KI. Rock'n'Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith (WDW) Haunted Mansion (WDW) Italian Job: Stunt Track (KI) Beast (KI) Jungle Cruise (WDW) What can I say? I'm a sucker for themes.
  7. I hate going in the Festhaus anymore--it's so depressingly dark and quiet. And is any one else turned off (to the point of mild nausea) by that cheese smell? I mean, LaRosa's pizza is okay, but I think I preferred the sauerkraut smell. Also, the clock out front is an hour behind and that really bothers me.
  8. Heh. I guess that does sound kinda silly, when I think about it. I really wish they'd flip the schedule, though. *sigh*
  9. (Wuah, first post!) Why is it that the F/X theatre only shows one film at a time? I assumed it was a power consumption thing, but they've been open together in the past, haven't they? My mom adores the Spongebob show, but that means we have to get up at one or two--practically dawn!
