  1. I am shocked to see that someone has stated that "Ohio is the dumbest state of all 50." In my opinion, that is a hideously dumb (actually more ignorant than anything) statement. Again, in my opinion, the reason KI and Columbus, as well as some other cities, have the fireworks at the 3rd is because most cities in the state have them on the 4th. It is certainly feasible that the reason for having them on the 3rd is so more people show up. For many, attending their local fireworks is family tradition. If large "destination" displays are also on the 4th, fewer people may attend the park. It's not stupid; in fact, it's brilliant. I just finished watching our local display--on the 4th of July. There is a country club here locally who also host a rather significant fireworks display and guess what? They have it on the 3rd -- why? Because they are not going to be able to compete with the city's fireworks and they want to have the greatest amount of attendance.
  2. Would the press having a "field day" necessarily be a bad thing? The press covered the incident rather extensively. It made national news. Everyone knew that the ride would be closed for a significant amount of time. A benefit of the press covering it would allow people to realize that it's back open. Do you think it may remind people of the incident? I doubt anyone is going to really forget; in fact, the actual event might be greatly exaggerated by patrons. How many times have you been in line for a coaster and heard how so many people had died on the ride? People are dare devils: They will want to ride SoB just to say that they did! From a public relations point of view, I'm not sure opening on the day of the incident would actually be such a bad idea...
  3. I think the issue with Action Theater is more because of the "3D Effect." It's probably the glasses rather than the motions. I wish more people would realize this and take the glasses off before succumbing to the tickling stomach. I had a friend who started to get sick while we were watching the movie and that's what she did. That's a fun little attraction, though! I wish they'd get a new movie; the ride has such potential. There's only so many times I can chase a pickle before I start to get tired of it--and I've only ridden the darn thing twice.
  4. Firehawk was running both trains on 6/11/07 (Monday, 9 minutes ago). I waited approximately 1 hour to ride. I'd never been on a flying coaster before, but the ride was okay. I didn't find it to be very comfortable (restraints). It wasn't all that intense, which is okay, and I didn't find it to be rough. The inline twists were rather uncomfortable, though. But in all, it wasn't a bad ride. The lift is incredibly loud. You're laying on your back with your head and ears right by the anti-rollback devices and they're extremely loud--that was not good. I actually wanted to put my hands over my ears. It's so loud you can't even talk to the person next to you without screaming! The station and theming, however, were nice! It's a big station and it has a nice vibe to it. The loading and unload times were rather slow. We were in the "yellow train" station and red was supposed to be dispatched before us. For whatever reason, though, the red train was still there by the time the yellow train arrived back in the station. We were loaded and restrained before the red train even left. I'm just glad they don't lower you until right before dispatch. I know this isn't a trip report or anything, but I did find some of the employees to be obnoxious. When it comes to customer service and perception, it doesn't send a good vibe to the customers when they see ride ops that appear to have no desire to be there. But, for the most part, the ride ops were excellent; I just wish they would be more devoted to meeting interval and moving lines. One more interesting event: On Top Gun we were "stuck" on the brake-run for a good 5-10 minutes. When we arrived at the station, we were told the floor was slippery. I'm assuming someone spewed their lunch in the station. I guess Top Gun makes me even a little dizzy and I don't really get motion sickness, but I don't think I'd ever imagined anyone having such a reaction after riding Top Gun. Perhaps it was just the "straw that broke the camel's back" for that person. Haha.
  5. Everything worked out very well. I went over and processed immediately upon arrival. It literally took about five minutes, even though the line looked rather long. Thanks for the information!
  6. Thanks for the response.
  7. Hello, A friend of mine purchased a season pass for King's Island for me. I have never had a season pass before, and I was not there when he ordered it. It gave him the option of "registering" me as he was ordering it. He said he did all of that and he gave them my email address. He recommended I check my email and see if I received any sort of confirmation. I did not. I fear he put in the wrong email address (and perhaps he put in other stuff incorrectly as well). For one, do you usually receive an email confirmation? And two, if you do, is any action usually required to verify the information? He purchased the tickets today and printed them off. I figure I need to have it proceessed. We are actually going tomorrow, so I'm a little worried that my ticket and, thus, my season pass are somehow invalid. The eTicket says that it can be used once for entrance into the park and then becomes void. I assume that, if I used it tomorrow as a regular ticket, I would still be able to receive my Season Pass card? Also, how long does it usually take to process season passes? I'm hoping to get it done tomorrow, even if I have to come back out sometime during the day to do it. Thanks!
