While Millenium Force may not have the airtime of DB, it makes up for it with its non-stop speed-unlike DB, there MF has no mid-course brake which means non-stop speed. Of course, without the mid-course brake, MF can only run one train at a time unlike DB, which means slower capacity. That is part of the give and take.At any rate, love both MF and DB-both in my top 5 favs.

Cincinnati.com Article About the Shooting Star
markr replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Coney Island Central
I never got to ride Wildcat. They tore it down when I was just 3 years old. Wildcat was a legend among my parents' generation. And it does look like the people in the back are standing. -
Thanks Dane, that's better.

I liked the old version better. Will take some getting used to for me.

I love that idea. As long as after, say 10 years, they don't change it into something else.

Thanks for your 2 cents Kirk. If your company had promoted an event at KI, I probably would have checked it out as it looks like your company produces more light-hearted shows.

Well, it doesn't appear to me that they have been policing KI closely. If they had been policing closely, you would think they would have raised heck over the Death Row attraction which I found to be very offensive. Just a thought.

LeSourdsville Lake Book Coming
markr replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I will always regret that I never experienced Le Sourdsville. It looks like it was a charming park much like the heyday of old Coney Island. -
I do agree that this midget wrestling goes too far. However, this issue of the Holloween attractions at KI pushing the envelope is nothing new and has been going on since the Holloween atractions started in the Paramount/CBS years. It seems to me if P & G had a problem with the Holloween attractions, they would have pulled their outings a long time ago unless they have had blinders on all these years.

Halloweekends opening night 9-17-2010 and CP 9-18-2010
markr replied to kiruler102's topic in Trip Reports
Like I said previously, Haunt attractions at KI since Cedar Fair took over really are not that much different than the Paramount/CBS years. And Holloweekends has always been a lot more family friendly. Maybe the problem is home office not being "hands on" enough about KI Haunt. -
Halloweekends opening night 9-17-2010 and CP 9-18-2010
markr replied to kiruler102's topic in Trip Reports
Nice trip report. I also enjoyed Erie Estates Haunted Manor last year. This is a good example of the true spirit of Holloween-no graphic blood and guts, just a good old fashioned scare from good old fashioned ghosts and spookie pictures. -
^Ignore the above.

How about a ride in boats where you see the different Hanna Barbera characters with a catchy tune ( Live in my tee vee....)? Never mind.

Why do people hate the Paramount Period of KI?
markr replied to RD Reynolds's topic in Kings Island History
Remember, there was also a KI that existed pre-1993 before Paramount entered the picture. Many of you on this site are either too young to remember or weren't born yet. KI to me just had such a magic in those years. Its not that I "hated" the Paramount years but the movie theming over all just didn't feel right. -

markr replied to chaddie's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I see DB was listed in the top 10 steel coasters. ( #7.)Two of my other top favs are there too-TTD ( #10 ) and MF. ( #1. ) -
Wasn't offended either, Hank. Your posts always bring a good laugh to me.

Always wanted to see Charlie Brown get back at Lucy for always pulling that football away.

I am glad that Ryan did post the video so that I could make an intelligent decision about whether or not to attend the event. I realize that he is simply providing information to us and that we shouldn't " kill the messenger. "

And my parents wouldn't let me see The Graduate when I was 11. Oh, how times have changed.
-
I was actually thinking of checking out the show as I have never been to a wrestling show in person and I thought maybe it would be a fun show with fun characters like the Macho Man. ( OHH, Yeah!!!-I used to love that guy.) After seeing the graphic, gory video, I think I will just stick with my DB marathoning.

Why do people hate the Paramount Period of KI?
markr replied to RD Reynolds's topic in Kings Island History
Hate is too strong a word. I'd say I was reluctant to accept the change that occurred with adding "Paramount" to the name. It took something away from the magic of what was just Kings Island - seemed too corporate. Probably made me biased about other things that they did. I'd also reiterate a point I've made before. To me, theme at a park isn't about a ride being themed, it is about an area being themed. Personally, I prefer a street of shops with an International feel, an area where I could experience wild animals and adventure, an area with a traditional amusement rides, and a remote mining town area versus a group of rides with incredible back-story, queue houses, and on ride effects. To my memory, this type of theme left during the "PKI" days (whether Pictures, Viacom, or CBS driven - it felt like Paramount to me, since they changed the name to that). I good example of this is how Tomb Raider was built in Rivertown-what did Tomb Raider have to do with the Rivertown theme? Nothing. -
I always thought the Holloween events at KI pushed the envelope even before Cedar Fair took over. At the same time, I have always found the Holloween events at CP to be more "lighthearted", family friendly, not nearly as intense as those at KI.

I remember Midget Wrestling was one of Archie Bunker's fav programs. Remember, Terpie?

Would not go on that after eating.
