  1. Also Friday 6/6 is Coastermania at CP-I would imagine many participants would want to stay up there into the weekend. ( Still on the waiting list for that day off.)
  2. Call me a grumpy old man but began reading The Beast once and thought it was plain silly.
  3. Always kind of felt sorry for the ride attendants at CP in Magnum's early years. I remember its popularity in its early years rivaling that of The Beast and, despite that, the line would not be cut until closing. This would mean that on nights the park closed at midnight that the workers would not get off, I would assume, until about 2am.
  4. Terpy as usual makes an excellant point about CP and KI not necessarily having the same policies even if they are owned by the same company. And, to be fair, I have observed CP slipping over the past few years with respect to strict enforecement of line jumping rules ( although not horribly) while I have observed improvement over the past few years in KI's enforcement of such rules. ( Still work to be done but the situation certainly is not a deal breaker with respect to my continued love affair with the park.) Also, Malem, your post certainly describes me right on point with respect how my reaction to line jumping has changed-I simply smile and continue to enjoy my day at the park. ( Otherwise the line jumper has won.) If it gets out of hand I quietly use my observation skills and report it to an attendant-if they can take action, fine, if not, then it is not the end of the world.
  5. The ride associates at KI have always been and continue to be dedicated professionals. I have always been treated with the utmost kindness and courtesy by the ride associates in my years of patronizing KI. As to the line jumping issue I have always felt that this is a safety and security issue as there is the risk that confronting the line jumper or jumpers can result in a violent confrontation. For this reason I have always felt that it is not right to place young kids ( no offense but to me the ride associates are young kids who are doing an outstanding job. ) in such a potentially volotile situation-that is why we should be having more police/security patrolling the queue areas. PS I must say that the Banshee crew is doing an outstanding job-keep up the good work.
  6. Decided on my fav seat today-front row, far right side. From here I feel the extra thrill of being too close to the beams
  7. Yes, I agree, that if there is not more than one party to report the line jumper it is one party's word against the other. The solution? Police officers patrolling the lines like at CP-then you would have witnesses to the line cutting. Believe me people do not mess with those police officers the patrol the Millenium Force queue area-those guys are huge. I love KI but I have been saying this for years that you need police in the queue areas more than any area of the park. Not only do you have line cutting but people are so close together such that there is the greatest potential for situations to escalate out of control. Often I do see police and security at the entrance to the rides but that is not enough-they need to be inside the main queue areas to see what is going on. I have to say, however, that I do think KI has shown much improvement since Cedar Fair took over in taking more actions against line jumper-for that I am thankful.
  8. Whether you have 10 rides or 1000 rides, the most important thing is that you are having fun. For me counting my rides just adds to the fun.
  9. I like Kingda Ka too-quick, the smelling salts for Terpie.
  10. Happy Birthday KI and here's to many more years.
  11. I say let's move on to fun stuff again. Anyway 33 Banshee rides so far and looking forward to many, many more.
  12. Thank you Jesse. I was in the queue when the noise happened. I have been hearing a lot of negative feedback about the crowd from people who were not there but I was trying to express in my previous post that none of us knew what was going on-it sounded like an alarm system and for all we knew there could have been a shooter-at any rate we all feared the worst. I feel everyone in the crowd ( including myself) made a wise, cautious decision to evacuate just to make sure that there was no safety issues-everyone evacuated from my perspective in a very orderly fashion with a minimum of panic. It was a relief to find out that nothing serious happened. Let me say thought that it was a frightening experience for myself and everyone one else in the queue . To hear some of the nasty comments about the crowd's reaction just outrages me. Thanks for letting me vent.
  13. Was waiting for a night ride on Banshee last night at the time of the incident. Anyway decided to go over to The Beast with my friend Jo as did not think it would reopen. The verdict? While I love Banshee at night The Beast still edges it out as my fav night ride.
  14. Got to get away from this thread-its making me hungry.
  15. At those prices would prefer to dine at Hall of Fame-while they had a shaky opening day last year they certainly put it all together. Also like the 10 percent discount on all food and drink at KI with a Gold or Platinum Pass-10 percent is 10 percent.
  16. Must also give special kudos to the outstanding Banshee crew. I must say that even with Fastlane they did an outstanding job as far as capacity-plus they are all very nice. Keep up the great work.
  17. Had the chicken and garlic bread on Media Day and enjoyed it-however am trying hard to watch what I eat so am going to try to avoid it as much as possible this summer.
  18. Can't make up my mind yet-both great night rides.
  19. Although Raptor will always have a place in my heart ( 20 years old next month) I must say that Banshee blows away the inverted competition. 24 rides so far ( would have had more but had to wait for the plummer Saturday-why, oh why do these things happen at the most inopportune times?) Fav part definately the last inversion-don't know the exact term but I will call it an inside barrel roll ending in a helix. Great job KI-keep up the great work.
  20. I mentioned earlier that each park should have its own identity. I just wish that the ads for each park would reflect this, ie stop showing rides from other parks.
  21. I don't believe any park should be the next anything-Let Kings Island be Kings Island and Cedar Point be Cedar Point.
  22. Here is one of my favs from when I was a child-wonderful music that would complement the Irish theme nicely.
  23. Just confirmed from Don that Tumble Bug was oldest operating ride during its years at KI as Dodgems aren't original ones that were at Coney-therefore correct answer indeed is Tumble Bug. I feel vindicated. ( lol.)
  24. Well, I might end up with egg on my face for starting this thread but here goes. I thought the answer was Tumble Bug-Wikipedia has a list of defunct KI rides and this site lists Tumble Bug as the oldest ride to ever operate at KI-it operated at Coney from 1925-1971 and subsequently was moved to KI until it was removed. However the Wikipedia KI listing states Dodgem to have operated at Coney from 1924-1971 until it was moved to KI. This seems contradictory to the listing for Defunct rides unless the Tumberbug at KI and Coney was actually manufactured before the Dodgems pre-1924-I have looked everywhere online however and cannot find any information as to when Tumblebug was actually manufactured
