It can be seen as similar to the mummy, but with a lift hill, and the mechanism for making the train go backwards is very different. I would argue that everest does "launch" because both show stops are done using about twenty pairs of tires that (after the vekoma style switch rotates and the show elements are played and the following block is clear) "launch" the train on its way. The yeti at the end of the ride is impressive, however this is a great example of an idea that was taken too far. You see the yeti for a few seconds, the effect could have been done for far less money if the figure were simplified; It appears to have several controlled axis, similar to stitch in Stitch's Great Escape, however stitch is visible on and off for over 8 minutes. ..matt

I just got back from WDW, we rode everest and I was a little disappointed. It is good, but for the amount of money and time spent on the ride I was expecting more. ..matt

This is getting more and more off topic, but from 1998-about july 2005 the pedals did make the cars go faster. Infact the program allowed the cars to run at any speed between a range, the cars' control system also had a flaw that caused them to stop on the track at random after about 6 years of usage (PM or e-mail me if you want a detailed description of why this happened.) A new program was written for a different park and I modified it for use on our ride, however, the pedals were left out of the program intentionally so that the cars would always come back into the station with the same distance between them. Theoretically the ride should also get better capacity because of the cars always running at "full" speed. ..matt

If you are such a genius on the Caripro intelligent pedal car ride then answer this; Where is "the rides computer"? If the pedals do nothing then why are they there? Lastly, what makes it so "intelligent" if the pedals do nothing? ..matt

I would not call it a prototype, it is not like the other versions they have made, but not a prototype. ..matt

If you know how they work they you surely must know something about magnetism. Therefore you surely know that cellphones have very little paramagnetic or ferromagnetic stuff in them. Also the field is only strong at a very short distance similar to a flat refrigerator magnet, hold one about an inch away from the refrigerator, and it will not stick, get it extremely close and it suddenly can provide enough attractive force to hold a small amount of weight. ..matt
