  1. I've found the term, "pull-down lap bar" to be less confusing. All lap bars are pull down...no?
  2. Explain how this is an epic fail for screamscape
  3. I don't remember Boss too well, but I do remember having to climb up and down stairs over the railroad tracks.
  4. I don't remember SOB's at all...it's been so long since I've ridden it...and I for sure did not do a walk-around.
  5. What rides do you think have the longest or worst walk-around from the exit back to the entrance of the queue if you wanted to re-ride? Magnum, Power Tower, and I305 all come to mind for me.
  6. yeah, exactly. In the survey, that's basically what I told them not to get. Under the comments section I wrote something about a proven technology with minimal downtime. I would be shocked if they got a steel prototype...wood on the other hand, I could see them doing it. Especially if gravity kraft is involved. The timberliners I suppose were a prototype that was suppose to debut at Holiday World. Who knows...maybe gravity kraft has a launched wood coaster up their sleeve...
  7. Many of the reports about Cheetah Hunt are that it is not intense at all and more family oriented. A tame multi launch like that would bridge the gap nicely between Howler and Raven. Although I believe I remember reading somewhere (coasterbuzz maybe?) that Will Koch said that they would never work with Intamin again because of problems with pilgrims plunge (this may not be accurate at all).
  8. Does Holiday World really have a skyline? I don't really think so. I think Cedar Point is one of the few parks (I can think of anyways) that has a true skyline...it is stunning as you are driving over the causeway with the water between the park and the road. And as far as hypercoaster goes, I think they are becoming a dime a dozen with most major parks having one. Arrow looper anyone?? And don't get me wrong, I think they are great, but they all relatively feel the same...especially now that there are quite a few of them. And if Voyage was taller, you could call it an out and back hyper. I think Jesse is right with a Dive Machine. I'm sure they all feel the same too, but with only 2 in the US, it definitely would be unique, especially for the midwest.
  9. Does Kings Island honor souvenir cups (for 1.99 refills) from other Cedar Fair parks? I have a cup from Kings Dominion (this year) and am hoping to bring it along with me to Kings Island this season for refills.
  10. One of the things I love about having beast for ert (or first ride of the day for that matter) is that it runs/feels different in the morning compared to later in the day, especially if there is a drastic change in temp from early morning to late afternoon. I guess its noticeable on many rides, but especially on beast. Anyone else agree?
  11. No....it's the current cost of a Platinum Pass minus what you actually paid for the pass you have. It also can ONLY be done at the park where you purchased the pass, nowhere else. Or so it has been to date. Two years ago I purchased a gold pass online from KI and then upgraded to platinum at CP. I'm glad it worked out that way, but it was an anxious wait for the office to open up in time so I could make it to ERT though. edit: Some of my personal favorites: Maverick - Front row, this is a must. MF - Last row Magnum - 2nd row first car, I believe people on here call it the "ejector seat". Raptor - 1st row unless its night time lol Cedar Fair Downs - The horse with orange on it. Blue Streak - 2nd to Last Row Gemini - Last Row Mean Streak - Don't ride it lol Also make sure you try out these flats: Skyhawk, Power Tower side that launches, Max Air. In Soak City the Plunge slide is the bomb! magnum's ejector seat is first car, third row. very painful it is. And I agree with you, 1-2 is a very good seat. Nice air and no pain.
  12. This RaptorGuy is really something else... Remember his thread about wanting to cancel Haunt? http://www.KICentral...opic=22867&st=0
  13. so so sad. he was a true visionary in the industry. he will be missed.
  14. It hasn't been completely torn down as mentioned in the article, the economy has slowed the redevelopment. how to we find out which saturdays we can go in there and walk around?
  15. just dig up some parking lot concrete, drop a few dozen truck loads of dirt, plant some grass seeds, landscape, and voila!
  16. I kind of agree with you. He seems to love the attention with this news stuff. And I also think it may be a little preemptive on his part stirring up the pot for next year considering their new ride for 2010 hasn't even opened yet because of some stupid mistake. But it will be cool this summer if they start surveying and marking the site. Keep your eyes on the lookout for spray paint and little flags.
  17. http://www.sanduskyr...ont/2054709.txt lets start speculating...I'm going with either a GCI or GG coaster at demon drops site extending out to the beach.
  18. cool photos...would love to see some night shots when the lights from starlight experience are on.
  19. I agree with you on Voyage. Everyone needs to drive out there and experience it. I just hope it holds up year after year and doesn't become like meanstreak.
  20. yep, one of the most thrilling (or scariest) rides in the park IMO. too bad its been rumored to be on the chopping block for the past several years.
  21. now that is a whole other thread...
  22. excellent, thanks for the fast response.
  23. After being let into the park is there a specific place they let the ERT people through? Do they scan your passes again, or do you just show it to them?
  24. I'm not bashing on you because you are young...but I think many people would be surprised on the amount of people that travel to places that have retro arcades. I know I have been using CP as an example, but it is a great example. I know people that go there just for their arcade. Just like how there are coaster enthusiasts, there are classic arcade enthusiasts. I would def go to a place because they have a Galaga, or whatever machine...I know it sounds crazy, but there are many others like me that would. Oh I know, believe me. I have quite a few friends (And a relative or two, for that matter) who travel to classic arcades. And the addition of some of these games to Kings Island would most likely make the park a bit of money, but I still think the park could spend their money on something that would appeal to a larger group of people, thus increasing profits. yeah, if they would have thought it would benefit them or whatever, they probably would have done it already by now. And the people/company that owns and maintains all the classic machines at CP is located in Sandusky and I don't know of a place/company in Cinci. that does that. Sure there is one though.
