Gulliver Rub a Dub, as it says in the title of that photo.

Of course! I completely forgot about that lake! I was picturing the little brook that runs between the train station and Wings diner.
-
Where will the Swan Lake water show be located?

The question is, why wouldn't you wear knee pads on Son of Beast? If you're sick enough to ride the ride in the first place, ( ) then at least use protection!

On nearly all of my visits to the park this year, the midcourse brake run on Flight of Fear has been turned on, and it also seems that only two trains are being used. Why the sudden change from a rather long period of no-brake rides?

Can anyone give a description of what Top Gun was going to be, before Paramount bought Kings Island? I've heard from several places that it was originally going to be called "Thunder Run" or something to that effect, but I always wondered if any themeing had been planned.

Vortex dispatches trains empty because it is such a people eater! Son of Beast dispatches trains empty because it sucks.

Really? I assumed they were working on the third train in order to get the stair case effect in operation. But I can't say I'd be surprised if they had given up on that and decided to add the third train for capacity's sake, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, as far as I'm concerned. The ride seems to be popular, and I thoroughly enjoy it, so shorter lines means more rides for me!

The launching interval is not yet an exact science, so it varies from day to day. I have not timed the intervals and taken an average, but it is not exceedingly long. There are two trains currently being used (three are available for use) and those trains have three cars, each of which hold four riders in two rows of two. I don't see how the use of three trains will help capacity, at least with current launch intervals. It seems to me that stacking would become a problem if the third train was used, ie Son of Beast.

Roughly half-way through White Water Canyon, there is a sign that says "Rough water" and below that there is some sort of (what I assume to be a) hydraulic mechanism that pushes the water through the turn. I have noticed this before. However, there are also now gates that open and close as the boats go buy, almost like they are keeping the boats at a safe distance from one another. The thing is, I have NEVER noticed these gates, or the ride-op tower that now sits there. Are these new additions, aspects of the ride that have not been used in the past, or just something that I never noticed before?

I'd just be happy with a high quality Spongebob video. The film is incredibly dark, grainy, and unclear. PKI needs to take a page (or a thousand) from Disney and make a high-quality video. If I saw the (old) park in 3D using their current film, I might just vomit.

So that's why FearFest doesn't even compare to Halloween events at other parks!

Hmm..it seems my last post was deleted. Maybe I posted it somewhere else... Anyway, there was something I forgot. 8. The entrance for Scooby Doo and the Haunted Castle is now on the right side of the bridge, and now GoldPass members enter on the left side, and go straight to the ride instead of looping through the pre-ride room. The queue barriers were altered slightly to accommodate this change.

Actually, it is when the wheels are not in constant contact with the track that coaster trains have problems travelling through the course. Roller coaster designed by Vekoma and Arrow Dynamics normally do not have spring-loaded wheels, or some other assembly that keeps the wheels in contact with the track. ?This causes "hunting" which results in the side-to-side and up-and-down "roughness." When the wheels are in constant contact (Intamin, B&M) the train cannot "hunt" and does not experience any of the roughness associated with loose wheels.

Again? When had new sprayers been installed before?

Here are a few things I noticed while at the park today, just to give everyone a "heads up." 1. The lookout on the exit of White Water Canyon has been equipped with new interactive sprayers. There are six red and white "fireman sprayers" (for lack of a better term, similar to what you may find on top of a childs toy firetruck. After a few minutes of watching, it appeared to me that number 6 gives you the best bang for your buck with the greatest soaking factor. 2. Several more of those multiple-ad signs are being placed around the park, along with numerous new vehicles advertising local dealerships. 3. While in line for Italian Job, two men behind me said that they were friends with a designer from Premier. They said that according to their friend, the staircase effect would not be ready until July. I asked about the fishtailing (whether it is on, off, not noticeable, or not there at all) and he knew nothing about it. As has been mentioned before, humorous road signs have been place in the queue, which has been covered by a large yellow tarp. The aqueduct water effect was in operation, although the helicopter scene worked only sporadically through the day. There was a crane at the spiral all day long, for what reason, I do not know. 4. From Drop Zone; there are several Antique cars behind Delirium, roughly where King Cobra's queue and station used to be. A few of them were covered in tarps (possibly shrink-rapped i.e. the third train on Mantis at Cedar Point) while the others were merely out in the open. It may have been the sun, but the paint on the cars seemed very vibrant, especially from so high up. Take that for what you will. 5. The shell of the "second generation" EuroBungee attraction on the former Flight Commander sight has been taken down, and the original EuroBungee trampolines have been put back up, but they are not yet operational. 6. This may or may not be new for the 2005 season, but I did not notice it last year. On the front car of The Vortex trains, full barriers have been placed in the nose so that riders feet cannot go to the very front of the car. 7. It may have been my imagination, but it felt to me that the sequence on Tomb Raider had been changed slightly. The slow decent at the end of the ride began much higher in the building, and the gondola was at a much steeper angle, with riders tilted more toward the ground. This could be accounted for weight differenes (as this was one of my very rare fully-loaded rides) so I would appreciate it if anyone else noticed anything different.

That drop down menu has been like that for several years now, even before the redesigned sight was available, so nothing new there.

Before Arrow went under, they offered floorless trains for their suspended coasters. They consisted of a seat configuration similar to the trains used on Vekoma Giant Inverted Boomerangs, however I believe the seats alternated, two and then three seats across. I want to say that they had also eliminated the need for the overhead "catch-basin" that is found on current suspended coaster trains. How these would have compared to "first generation" trains, I do not know. After looking at Vampire pictures from RCDB it is obvious that the Vekoma floorless trains still swing from side to side, and are not fixed in one position, but I don't think there is any way to tell how much the swinging action differs between the two types of trains.

I wouldn't have any problem with a new paint job, but let's hope its not the same grey on grey that it has been for the last several years.

Earlier on in the season, someone had mentioned that a season pass newsletter hinted that Top Gun would be receiving a "Hollywood makeover." Can anyone confirm that this was actually circulated by the park? Obviously, Top Gun has yet to have any visible TLC, so I am a little weary about this rumor, no matter how much I may want it to be true. Of course, I'm still waiting for the lighting on Tomb Raider to be fixed, but so much for that...

Six Flags markets rides that don't operate all the time.
-
I had wondered why they announced that Psycho Path would be closed due to "technical difficulties." What exactly caught fire?
-
The only reason why anyone should ride this ride is to hear the Phantom Theater soundtrack and see the several animatronic figures used in the queue. Otherwise, don't waste your time.
-
I rode it today, Saturday October 9, and the ride had not changed at all.
-
Interesting. I'll be at the park on October 9, so unless someone happens to post some information before then, I'll be sure to ride Tomb Raider to see if there is any difference.
