  1. I just came across this little video on YouTube. It contains some fun little facts and some humorous ones as well. Thought I should share.
  2. Please, please, PLEASE tell me you started this topic as a joke.
  3. What's a lift hill motor building? Anyone have a pic they could post here for me? I'm not sure if I've seen those on any coasters or not. P.S. I re-wrote that second sentence three times to make sure it was O'Terpy-proofed.
  4. I could not agree more with your comments on Maverick and Millennium Force. In my first (and so far only) trip to the Point, I found Millennium was not even close to being worth all the hype it receives. I mean, don't get me wrong, it's still a great ride, but it just barely makes my top 5. I even have Diamondback ahead of it. Personally, I found Millennium to be really fast and, well, that was it. I didn't really experience any other sensation. At least DB gives me airtime. And, Maverick, what an awesome surprise! By far, the BEST coaster I have ever ridden. Granted, I've only been to KI and CP, but I figure riding what many others say is number one, I can accurately say, there is no better coaster than Maverick. I just don't understand how it consistently ranks so low. At least Mitch Hawker's has it at nine. <End Rant>
  5. They get to keep the Boomerang Bay theme! No fair! And, once again, I hope this is a sign for us to get new slides in 2015/16. We are in dire need of some.
  6. Your experience reminds of an experience I had earlier this summer. My friend and brother decided to ride together on Diamondback, leaving me alone in the row behind them. Right as I sat down I looked to my left to see another man who would be sitting with me in the back row. I thought, "hmm, he looks like that one guy...no, he IS that one guy." As we went up the lift and through the course, instead of enjoying the ride myself, I spent the time watching what his reaction is to a ride on Diamondback. As we approached the brake run I was trying to think of what to say to him. I had always imagined meeting him and there were so many questions I wanted to ask. Unfortunately, all I could manage was, "Are you Gary Coleman?" He replied, "Yes", and all I could manage was a cheesy, "I'm jealous of all your rides" or something like that. The train pulled into the station, the restraints opened, and we went on our separate ways. I'm so mad I couldn't bring myself to ask more, but there is nothing I can do about it. Maybe I'll see him again someday. But until then, this moment will remain as one of my favorite KI memories.
  7. Tell me I'm not the only one that couldn't care less whether its red or burgundy or purple or whatever.
  8. So you have a intamin blitz, 200' wicked twister, 300' millennium force and over 400' top thrill dragster. Those four coasters alone is worth the trip. All subject to a higher chance of not being open...
  9. I heard a rumor that Darien Lake's new coaster will not be an RMC as assumed, but actually a GCI. We shall see...
  10. After finally getting the time to take a more complete look at the additions; I have my initial evaluation. The three additions I have the most interest in are Goliath, Medusa, and Zumanjaro. First, Goliath. Wow. This looks amazing. And it's great to see the park get two major coasters in just three years after going so long without one. My only complaint is the use of Goliath again! Six Flags needs to get original and retire this name. Staying with RMC, Medusa comes in at second on my interest list. I never had interest in this coaster or Six Flags Mexico as a whole, but this is definitely bringing this foreign park to my attention. Six Flags really knows how great RMC is and I'm just waiting for FUN to hop onto that train. Zumanjaro is indeed very fun looking, but there is no way Rolling Thunder is being removed to make room for this. Like others, I believe Six Flags decided to remove it now is because they are using it's location for a major steel coaster in 2015. The only other attractions that call attention to me is the newest Sky Screamer and the addition of a Hurricane Harbor so close to the White Water water park in Atlanta. I feel like it would of been much better to just put all the money into an expansion/ renovation of White Water. I also enjoyed the way CEO Jim Reid Anderson announced them all in the video. Makes me wonder how much better Cedar Point's video would have been with some enthusiastic employees versus that cheesy family.
  11. Really? They have to use Goliath again! Come on Six Flags, get original! In school on my phone right now, can't see everything, but they all sound pretty exciting! Can't wait to get home and see more.
  12. Here Shy Guy's World (Anyone else?) TPR- I don't even visit it anymore. I find the people who run it (Robb and others) to be very, very rude.
  13. Wood- The Beast Steel- Maverick Overall- Maverick
  14. Oh yes because taking two months to take care of an error on one of your biggest coasters (one you had to re-track part of after it's first season) is definitely worth applauding...
  15. There is so much that I would accept; it would be mean to make you read through it all. Most of it isn't even anything new, just upgrading what we already have. Like for instance, the number one item on my wish list. And Don, if you're reading please take note: REPAINT THE RACER! Back to this if it isn't too much, please:
  16. Looks like it's the new WindSeeker. Anyone else besides Knott's get one? Package deal perhaps? Michigan's Adventure also received one this year. I can't help but now think that Dorney will be announcing one tomorrow as well. It definitely makes me more confident that we'll be seeing the return of the eagles to KI within the next couple of years. Oh, and I love the new additions. They're just what the Point needed. Very close to what I was thinking. The only difference is that I thought they would be placed along the beach similar to WindSeeker. As for that announcement video... yeah. I wish I didn't watch it. Don: please, pretty pretty please, NEVER announce any addition that way.
  17. They were leaked by SIX's marketing department? Now I've heard everything. SIX's marketing department did not leak Banshee's blueprints! I considered re-writing that statement to avoid the smart-alec comments. I thought they would't come. Silly me.
  18. Youngstud, you should know how much this site does not like rumors from screamscape, but yet you started a whole thread based on one. Really? And here is why: http://www.screamscape.com/html/holiday_world.htm He has already changed his rumor; adding a park reply letting us all know that the train is not for sale.
  19. April 21, 2009 - August 22, 2013 That's called a bump. By more than three years. Now I have a tough question for you all. Is there any pictures of the inside? The abandoned link takes you to the site's home page.
  20. Upon reading a news article, I found something very interesting that hasn't yet been discussed and could really help explain where all that money is going... If that is true, it easily explains where a lot of money is going. However, I don't see how they know more will work out. I know people have said one resort should do fine, but multiple Dolly-owned resorts? I can't see that working out.
  21. On topic now, I myself would love to see a RMC redo of Mean Streak. While it could be coming, I do not think it will be for 2014. As stated by others, it seems unlikely that a family would announce such an addition and this is not the first year Mean Streak has closed early to get an early maintenance start. I could see it occurring 2015 or later. In which case, I hope it is not re-tracked like Texas Giant and Iron Rattler, but rather the wood track used on Outlaw Run. Using the steel track would even further limit the Point's already limited wooden coaster line up.
  22. ^ Assuming you're referring to CoastersRZ being an administrator; yes, I know. That's why I apologized to him in the end of my post.
  23. Well you certainly seem to be acting like a moderator to me! And besides, some of us mods are busy working one or two jobs. I know I have been busy at my current job working on some exciting projects. No need to chastise us moderators. On the subject at hand, I rarely ride Mean Streak when I go to Cedar Point. Same goes for Mantis. There are other rides I would much rather go on and wait in line for than those attractions. That post was in no way meant to chastise the mods. I was going through the three topics we had with the intent of showing the OP to do a better job looking for other similar threads first and to place topics in the correct places. I realize real life jobs get in the way of this one, but letting two similar topics co-exist for 2+ weeks with at least 4 mods that I know of is a bit too much in my opinion. Nevertheless, the point of the post post was to send a message to new posters, not to chastise the mods. Sorry if it came across the wrong way. Also, my last sentence was meant to come across as a suggestion. Again, I'm sorry if you felt I was chastising you, I'm not very good at wording things online. Real life talks are much easier.
