I have a question for any KI halloween veterans. This is my first haunt. Mine and my wife's favorite perk of having gold passes this season was the early Diamonback/Beast ride times. With the arrival of the vertically challenged, blood soaked "entertainment" slated for this year, the main thing we will want to do is to get a few coaster rides in. I have tried to ask customer service if the gold passers can get in early like we have been, and if so will it be a half hour early on Friday and Sunday and an hour on Saturday. No one seems to know for sure. Also, are all the rides open the whole time the park is open? Here's all I could find on KI's site: Howl-o-Fest hours are 12pm - 5pm Saturday and Sunday. Planet Snoopy will begin closing at 5pm on Saturdays to prepare for Halloween Haunt. Halloween Haunt hours are 7pm - 1am Friday and Saturday nights. Halloween Haunt is not recommended for children. Please note: Kings Island will be closed to the public during the day on Saturday, September 25 for a private event. We will open to the public at 7pm for Halloween Haunt. Thanks for the help. See ya Friday! side question: Will the Festhaus be adding PBR to the beer selection to appeal to the crowd this spectacle should draw? Nevermind, I'm sure they'll just sneak their own in!

Any chance of going to the ticket window this weekend and getting the 49.99 deal?
-
What about an elevated train using magnetic conduction to change the speed while it moves guests around the park? It's such a long hike to get from The Beast to Delirum, and never a direct route.

Well put Terp. Consider this: The frame of most peoples minds after getting innocently scared = jumpy, twitchy, laughing at themselves or others in their party about being more or less scared than the others but still in a good mood. The frame of most peoples minds after getting grossed by fake gore = temporally nauseous (SP?) shaking heads to clear gross visual memories, but still having a good time. The frame of most peoples minds after watching actual ( although scripted) violence and REAL blood = elevated testosterone, rowdiness (ask any bouncer) and more interest in uncontrolled mayhem. Let's consider adding alcohol to the mix. My wife and I aren't really looking forward to the results.

You all know Patton Oswalt once said, " If you bonk a midget on the top of their head, gold coins shoot out of their mouth!" I guess we'll find out. This is mine and my wife's first haunt, and this is just scary. Not in a fun way, but in a disturbing, drunken redneck, trailer trash, Jerry Springer kind of way.

The "Click here to buy your tickets" thing just leads to the tickets.visitkingsisland.com page, so I would assume that passholders get them, too. I went into the customer service office this last weekend and asked about early ride times for gold passers and they said "as far as they know" the same early ride times apply to the haunt just as they have all season. So lets get them BOBBLEHEADS!!

Looking back over these old pics and reading about the history of the park you all are posting is kind of like watching a video game being played! "This coaster isn't working out, lets move it and put Delirium here." "Lake... Lake!.... We don't need no stinkin' lake..... Fill it in and put a COASTER there!!!" I Love It!

You didn't hear? It's great. One of the hills is a water slide now. Racer... Is that the big ole wooden rolly coasty behind the Go-Karts?

You are correct... in addition... Originally, the exotic bird show was in a similar ampitheatre near the location of Timberwolf. The bird show was tucked away in the corner where the Invertigo Plaza now exists. Here's a pic: Shaggy So, is that the entirety of the Adventure Village area? From the things people here had said (real parakeets in the trees, waterfalls, jungle music, etc) I imagined it being similar to Kings Dominion's current Congo area (forested, jungle drum soundtrack, dark, well-landscaped, secluded)... The area in that photo looks rather devoid of trees, theme, and... well... beauty. Is that photo of the adventure area in its prime? Am I missing something? GYK, who always blindly agreed with those who said Adventure Village was much nicer than Action Zone simply based on the theme, but who, upon seeing this photo, is thinking he may have been wrong... Nope, that's the area sometime around it's 2nd or 3rd season ('75 or '76)... Here's a pic (albeit fa fuzzy one...) of it in it's prime: WOW what an amazing picture!! I can't get a visual reference of what direction this pic was taken. If I'm on the E.T. which direction is this? and what is there now? Is that the tram that's at Jungle Jim's now in the background? Thanks for reminiscing everyone, this is all new to me!!! Very Cool!!!

Regardless if it was 10 years or 2 weeks ago, the thought of anyone regularly loading up and hauling large sea animals around in a trailer for peoples' amusement is horrible! and I was surprised to hear KI ever supported that. I learned awhile back that just because it's news to me doesn't mean it's news.

Interesting. All that moving had to be brutal on the dolphins. It was a different time I guess. What did they do with the other animals during the winter? Did they have in indoor habitat on the property that they kept them in? Our first trip to KI was just last year so I'm very late to the history of KI party.

Well the regular season came to an end yesterday and the coasters must have been tired, because Diamondback was 10 minutes late letting passers ride. After being open for 10 minutes they shut it down for another 10 minutes and everyone waited while an engineer rode it once. So we all got maybe 2 rides in before the sea of people came. Then The Beast brokedown shortly after 10:00. It was bad enough that a train got stuck on the lift hill and riders had to be walked back down. Don't know when it re-opened. I hope the old Guy is OK. We'll know in 3 weeks! First Haunt, can't wait.... BOO!! Last night I came across this great old film footage on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wj02zD0dJLs&feature=related Apologies if this has already been posted. I have a question for any KI veterans. After watching this footage, I couldn't help but wonder what in the world did they do with the dolphins in winter? I've seen pictures of KI fountain frozen over with people skating on it, so it had to be too cold for them in their tank. Where did they go?

This morning in the Flight Deck station, a woman who had to be around 200 pounds started to load in the car. The shoulder harness was already down, so she proceeded to try to climb THROUGH the inside of the closed shoulder restraint. It didn't go well. The station was full and everyone around her was lifting the restraints to get in, so it's not like there were plenty of proper coaster loading examples all around her. Someone finally lifted the restraint for her.

Does anyone know what the Gold passes will be sold for after Oct. 31? Also, If I buy a Gold pass now and decide to upgrade to a Platinum next season what will that cost? Do they have discounts in the spring, or is it better to buy now? Thanks in advance for the answers. This is our first year in Cincy!

Before I write this I want to say that most of the ride ops at KI are GREAT! Having said that, I would like to make a request of the male ride ops that read these forums. Would you PLEASE share with the female ride ops who work on The Beast, and Diamondback the potential of pain and damage that can be inflicted on men if you get in too big a hurry and push down too hard and fast on the restraint bar! There is a REASON we leave that bar a click looser than women do. If they don't understand why, feel free to be as graphic as necessary to get the point across! Thank You Ride On!!! (hopefully in not a too high pitched voice!)

This morning on The Vortex loading platform, there was an impatient Father and young son waiting a couple of stalls next to my wife and I: Son: "but dad, I want to ride The Vortex NOW!!" Dad: "We will.... but we're going to ride this one first!" You can't make this stuff up!!!! You want to correct them, then you just think......WHY!!!

LOL. Read the thread before you post and you will know It's even in the title of the thread. He's yellow and lives in a pineapple. I started this thread, so I'll field this one. What's playing is: Spongebob Squarepants.... SOMETIMES 3D.... SOMETIMES 2D!!!!!! Sometimes a garbage can just blocking the entrance with no explanation. So sometimes NO D!

I know this is a little off topic from this post, but has anybody bought those disposable glasses for the boo blasters haunted mansion? Is the 3D neon paintjob worth a buck or not?

Or, was amazing! Corkscrew Hill was removed this year and replaced with a new simulator called "Europe in the Air" (a very beautiful, very "Soarin'" like sight-seeing experience) that lacks what Corkscrew Hill was often hated for - its bumpy, rigid, rough movements when it simulated horseback riding, being carried through the air by a Griffin, and others. Though, personally, I preferred Corkscrew Hill. Corkscrew Hill! I hate to hear it's gone. What great theming that was. Now where am I going to go to get shrunk down to fit in a shoebox? LongliveKingsCobra said: ^Actually One movie played a completely different movie. One year it was The 7th Portal, and James Bond Were they 3D as well? Our first trip to KI was only last year. We loved it so much, my wife and I moved here this last spring! Ride On!

I looked at the sign and it still says 3D, and the worker dude even said, "We hope you enjoyed Spongebob 3d", obviously he was not really paying attention! My wife and I thought we were in the Twilight Zone......Hey, that would be a good 3D ride!!!!! I do wish they would update this ride. Has anyone ridden the Irish one (I can't remember the name)at Busch Gardens Williamsburg? That one is AMAZING!!!!

Hi all, I'm new to this sight and this is my first topic, so please forgive me if this has already been answered. I wanted to wait until after yesterday's announcement to post this. My wife and I were at the KI Monday evening and we rode Sponge Bob. When we got to the Que there were NO 3D Glasses outside and when asked about it the worker said: "It's only in 2D now"! Talk about a disappointing experience. It was like watching Nickalodean (sp?) while someone was shaking the crap out of our couch! Does anyone know if the theater is where they are planning to put the Super Spinny Flying Sky Swingy thing? Are they really sending Spongebob and Patrick back to Bikini Bottom? Ride On! Snowman
