  1. Of the three stand-ups I’ve been fortunate enough to ride, KC was by far the most comfortable. Mantis’ layout was a better layout but it would beat me to death the second half after the brake run. Carowinds Vortex is a short ride, but it’s got the same beat your head to death that Mantis had. KC was almost glass smooth compared to them two. What a great ride it was.  Personally it, by far, is my most missed defunct coaster.

I don’t Vortex will become mostly forgotten, in my mind and the minds of others Vortex was just as much of a classic as The Beast & Racer.

I’d almost argue KC was just as classic as the others. But besides an small, older kinda cult of us it’s pretty forgotten

With all the conspiracy theorist negativity over a simple webcam its mind blowing how anybody became an enthusiast before the advent of webcams.

Age. Times have definitely changed. If we didn’t see it on our local news or commercials we didn’t see it.

It’s amazing how people have changed with technology. No one has any trust of another’s word anymore. It’s both understandable and sad all at the same time.

Did you know you're likely to walk 5 - 8 miles a day when visiting a theme park?

But if it's worth it to you to park 300 feet closer to the gate, by all means. ^_^ In all seriousness, I totally understand in the case of mobility or access considerations and I guess it makes sense if you're looking to use your car as a locker, but I'd say most people who pay for premium parking are probably just doing it to cut out that extra 3 minutes of walking... never mind the 10 hours of walking that'll follow.

Yes. It's usually 12-14 miles according to the little handy-dandy app on a phone. Yes saving the 300 feet at the end of a long day is great. Yes I'm sure a lot of us around here knew all that. Thanks though.

  5. Interesting enough you cannot upgrade parking at Carowinds. I was hoping that had not changed at KI this year. I most always upgrade. After a long day at the park, or If I've been with Malem, the closer parking spot is music to my feet.

Sounds like paper cups are the way to go if it's the same price. I've never done the souvenir cup in the past for the sake of ride storage...Does anyone know if the same plan works for the rest of the parks if you go Platinum? I know it does for the souvenir cup...

Yes. I bought mine through the KI website. Used it at both KD and Carowinds. As I said it was a great investment. It has already more than paid for itself.

  7. Are the souvenir cup smaller this year than in seasons past? Carowinds for sure look like it.

I bought the paper cup plan. After a day and a half at KD and two at Carowinds, it has more than paid for itself. Absolutely a great investment.
