  1. Probably not. I was hoping that was understood in my comment. Maybe not...
  2. Where did you read that? Was it an official announcement or press release from CF/CP/RMC?
  3. Similar, except I have cargo shorts. I know the topic of cargo shorts was brought up on this site a while back and people were worried about the fashion side of clothing, but I am old enough to not care what others think of me and my clothes. I have pockets with zippers and/or velcro to secure my wallet, sunscreen and keys. I get have access to the stuff that I need with peace of mind that it is secure.
  4. I may have missed this further back... Do you have a smart phone? If so, try the Shazam app next time you're in the park. If not, bribe a friend to use theirs when you hear the song next.
  5. IMO, this would be the worst possible location for a giga.Sent from my SM-G925T using Tapatalk Curious (really not trolling or being harsh)...Is that statement hyperbolic? I would think so since there are plenty of other obvious choices that would be worse. If not hyperbole, what makes you say that? Based on what we (think we) know, all we've seen so far is markers for a pathway. The fence itself isn't much larger than a queue entrance...the station house for the ride could be several hundred feet from the entrance/fence (like The Bat - seriously, the walk to/from is longer than the actual ride if there's minimal wait). It's possible any clearing being done for the actual ride can't be see from anywhere inside the park that guests can get to aside from the Eiffel Tower. And the view from the tower may be at an angle it's hard to perceive a path being cleared in the trees. I'm gonna see if I can fly over the area in the next week or two just to see what it looks like from above. In response to this, the reason I say it would be the worst possible space for a giga is due to the amount of rides currently in Action Zone. I never said it was impossible for one to go in that section of the park. Granted, if KI were to remove Congo Falls and Invertigo, it would free up some space and not have the area look so congested. I'm not degrading your opinion. I'm just simply stating mine.Sent from my SM-G925T using Tapatalk I didn't mean to sound degrading, apologies if I did. I was just trying to understand why you thought it was the worst possible location. I really don't know if I agree or not. I really wouldn't mind seeing the rides you mentioned go, but I'm not really a fan of removing a ride to make way for a new one unless there are other factors involved (maintenance and downtime, etc) since there are people who enjoy those rides and I don't want to see someone else have less fun so I can have more. It probably comes down to where crowds tend to form in the park. When I'm there, I see more crowds in Action Zone than Rivertown (aside from DB lines), probably because the area has one of the lower capacity coasters in Invertigo and the newest (and some say best) in Banshee. The wait for Drop Tower is usually rather long (not sure if this is a popularity or capacity issue, or both) as well as Delirium. I would think adding a ride to the Rivertown would spread crowds out in the park a bit more, meaning more people to play the games and buy the food and merch in those areas. The lines for ice cream by Banshee and the other food/drink locations in the area always seem like a longer wait than in other parts of the park (aside from maybe Planet Snoopy, but not having small kids that area is a walk through for me). Then again, I don't have a true understanding of how parks deal with people congregating in their properties. It seems to me, you'd want a relatively even distribution, but maybe that's something they don't really care about. Maybe I'm wrong on how parks would offer an incentive for guests to visit other areas, too. I really don't know.

  7. I wasn't around for the last two big coasters added to the park. What's the general timeline from, say, DB and Banshee? I'm assuming it's the fence, a teaser/hint here and there until later in the season and there's an announcement, then a season of construction and then we get the ride?
  8. Weclome to KIC! Interesting idea, but I honestly hope not (spinning around isn't much fun for me). I'd ride it once, just to get the credit. Unless it REALLY impressed me that would probably be it. I doubt the next addition to the park would be included in Planet Snoopy, though, since it just got the new flyers last year. Obviously, I reserve the right to be utterly wrong.
  9. With the recent tweets with the green and blue trains, combine with the one yesterday showing the blue train saying to "Never mind what's under the railway bridge," - the blue train is either a clue or misdirection (I'm leaning misdirection). But I am curious, what is under that bridge? I've not ridden the train in 2 decades, but might have to catch a ride to relax on my next visit (looking like next weekend).
  10. I'll have to try 5-1 next time I visit. Honestly, the ride is longer than the line, usually. So what's the 'risk'?
  11. Sitting in 7-1 on Vortex is the best ride, IMO. It doesn't seem as rough there as in other positions I've ridden in. Overall, though, I agree that it isn't the smoothest ride. I would be sad to see it go, but I am starting to think the ride has reached the end of its life span and may need to be retired. We'll still get at least one ride per visit on it while it's with us, though. I just hope they put something amazing in that spot when the time comes.
  12. I heard this as a reason for why the water around The Beast is no longer there. Was hard to not laugh at the thought of water suddenly causing the structure to sink afte rnearly 30yrs of being there.
  13. Yes, seek out medical attention. If a General/Family doctor doesn't seem to know what the issue is or willing to investigate, ask to be referred to an ENT specialist. It's possible a prolonged sinus issue you may not notice day-to-day could be causing your symptoms. Speaking from 2nd hand experience with my fiancee and her multiple sinus surgeries and how things like riding coasters and in cars has changed for her.
  14. Thank you all for the feedback. It gives me a lot of information to share with my better half so we can make a decision. Please continue to share if anybody else has more.
  15. AHH...didn't even think about Dorney! Thank you! And yeah, platinum passes are in hand.
  16. Idunno. I'm sure it's more flattering than annoying. It's not like people are trying to expose a trade secret and lower their revenues. People are acting out of passion. Not many companies have fans passionate enough to go digging through public records just because they 'have to know'. Since the Dept of Agriculture is the regulatory body for amusement rides, would it be worth looking there? Or maybe they just have to inspect and clear it for use after it's built and periodically thereafter? I really don't know, just throwing it out there. Put yourself in the shoes of the marketing/PR department and the park. (I'm not saying this is what they do exactly) You have been working on a project for a year/months/hours/minutes, figuring out teasers scheduled up to the announcement. You start implementing teasers, you spend hours working on code for the website, you spend a few days placing/coordinating little hints throughout the park, you spend hours in meetings coming up with various things for the project....then to have people on KIC deciding they want to be the first to find out and essentially spoil the surprise for the enthusiasts, the info would be out there and all the cool things they have planned won't necessarily be all that great to do since the "cat is out of the bag." I totally understand that. The folks at CF/KI (and Apple/Blizzard Entertainment/Disney/Fox) know all too well that they are playing a cat and mouse game with anything that can be discovered via public record. That's why they have their jobs - they're good at winning that game. My point was that the people trying to figure things out aren't doing so with any malicious intent, but rather pure passion and excitement and that probably (based on commentary from video game designers) makes it less annoying and more flattering since people care enough to spend the energy. It's no different than people trying to figure out the next iPhone, fans of video game companies trying to figure out the same sort of thing based on trademark filings. How is it different from fans of a tv show or movie series wanting to know everything about an upcoming release (other than the public records bit)? They're not trying to steal anybody's cookies, they're just that passionate about it.

  18. I'm looking for a weekend getaway for the family. KI is our 'home' park (despite that we live basically midway between KI and CP). We were in Virginia for other reasons Memorial Day weekend and we were going to go to King's Dominion on a 'side trip' back to Central Ohio. Weather forecast caused us to, instead, change our plans and head back to Ohio early and visit KI (not a bad consolation prize, at all). We would like to take the kids (13 and 15) to a park outside Ohio. We would like, but don't require, some historical/educational sites nearby. We're looking at either Carrowinds or KD (both roughly the same drive time). Looking at the rides at each, I see Intimidator 305 and The Crypt (none of us got a chance to ride TRTR) as draws for KD and Fury 325 at Carrowinds. I know they have other rides, but those seem to be the biggest draws for us. Some rides seem to be copies of what we have at KI and don't appear to add to the draw of either park. I'm just looking for some feedback and, more importantly, reasons we should pick one park over the other. We're coaster kids, flat rides don't do much for us. What other attractions at each park is worth the trip? Would you suggest a Friday/Monday at the park, or a Sunday/Monday? (non-holiday weekends). edit: Hotels nearby that aren't overly expensive is also a factor. I know there are as many opinions as there are people on what's a reasonable rate...let's say in the ballpark of $150/ni
  19. This was just posted not long ago...I found it funnier than I probably should have" https://twitter.com/JGreen_LAT/status/738357206207365120
  20. Me too. My better half tells me she can tell how excited I am when we're approaching the front gate, even if the park is closed and we're just there to pick up our passes.
  21. I'd usually agree but I'd trade any KI coaster that is Dback, Beast or Banshee for an Arrow Mouse. Please tell me you meant "is not"...
  22. +1 for the vine-covered walkway (still have them at Carowinds and King's Dominion!) and the CLOWN BAND - loved those guys, knew a few folks who had the opportunity to play with them. They were *great*. Most of the above, I miss. The vine canopy, the clown band and international street music (particularly, Sabre Dance, for some reason) are very fond memories from my childhood.
  23. This what you are looking for? Sent from an Indestructible Phone Oh, I wasn't looking for the sectional, I just didn't have one in front of me when I made my post. I was wondering if posting any pics taken while flying over the park would be a no-no.
  24. Pseudo trip report... Had our first visit to the park this past weekend. Got in Sunday evening for a few rides with the youngest. We hit Banshee and Diamondback. I still need to get an actual night ride on Banshee, but front row at night on DB was an amazing experience (I usually prefer the back row for its different ride experience). During our walk from Banshee to Diamondback, a Sprite bottle landed ~3ft in front of us and exploded. This happened right under the Banshee track that is over/near the ice cream stand. The only explanation I can muster is that it was in someone's pocket on the ride and fell out. I hope this is the case and not someone actively throwing it (but I wouldn't be overly surprised at this). On Monday, despite minimal crowds we got held up at the same ice cream stand because of some confusion over cups. Honestly, it seemed to me like the guests were trying to scam a free cup or two, but I didn't truly pay attention until we'd been held up by about 10min by this single transaction. It had all the classic trappings of a scam - swapping different people from their group in/out, changing their count on things from time to time etc seemingly in an effort to confuse the cashier). The employee dealing with them handled himself professionally (props to him, I'd have lost my cool), but I think it would have been best to pull the customer to the side to deal with them so the line could continue to move along. It was to the point that I was willing to pay for them to get another cup just to move them along, it would have been worth and extra $15 to me just to get the ice cream that my family and had been waiting 45min to order. Overall, though, we had a great time and can't wait to go back. edit: spelling and a few missing words
  25. We were there on Monday from open until about 2:00. The crowd was not a crowd, really. The longest wait for a ride we saw was Diamondback and that was ~20min (we walked into the line and didn't stop until the Coke machines). It was a little warm, but it was a beautiful day for the park. I'm hoping this is the norm for Monday holidays (esp ones where family cookouts are the norm)...I'll be making use of them :-)
