My Dad's old Kings Island pictures

Featured Replies

Ok, I've been threatening to do this for a while, now. My dad took about a bazillion slides over his lifetime. I'm going to scan them in, which in all honesty, will probably take years. Anyway, I'll post the KI ones to my photo site, and let you guys know when I do.

Here's the link to the first few- mostly learning how to scan the slides. These are from August, 1980, and you can see preliminary Bat construction going in some of them- Mostly just the station and footers.

enjoy, and feel free to tell me to stop if these are a PITA

Thank you, thank you!

Your dad's pictures are far from being a pain. Please continue as you have time! They definitely bring back old memories to oldtimers like me, and will bring a perspective never before seen to many!

You might consider making the scans available for the history section of this site, as well. I'd think they'd be glad to have some or all of them!

Again, thanks!

These pictures are great! I'm glad your dad is a shutterbug, he captured a lot of history. I love the picture taken from the shake rattle and roll.

PITA????? Far from it!!!!!!!! Those are wonderful!!!! Rotor was one of my favorites. It sure has changed over the years. Thanks!!!!!!

:D Wow these are awesome! What water ride is seen in the right side of the kiddie land pic behind the bathrooms? I also really like the one taken of adventure village which shows the land before festhaus is built

That would be Gullivers Rub-A-Dub, it was a small water based 'outdoor dark ride' for lack of a better term. You rode in small round washtubs through the Lilliputan land from Guliver's Travels.

Awesome pics. Thanks for sharing! I'd love to visit that park that is in the pictures... :D

Awesome pics it is pretty weird to se how Kings Island has changes so much in the past 20 some odd years. One big thing i noticed is how bare the park looks where The Vortex errr.... bat was going to be in that picture. It makes it look like almost deserted. I also noticed how good the covered picnic area/shelter in Hanna Barbarra Land errr.... Nickelodeon Central looks. I wish they wiuld still have it upkept as well as it was then today. Keep the pics coming! :)

I think when I get a few more of them scanned, I will do that. I talked to Ryan at Holiwood Nights 2006 about it. I'd like to see Dad get credited for the pics, even if he wouldn;t have cared less.

These photos are great, man. I don't know how they were with cameras back then, but that Shake Rattle and Roll "on ride photo" is amusing.
