I am going to try and go to their event even though it's geared for the little ones. Mainly, I want to ride Big Dipper, the Kite Flyers, the Haunted House, and the Flyers(don't know the name). I drive by there all the time and I am really impressed with all of the new paint jobs and new attractions that have been added. They are on the lower end of the park, which is blocked off with hay bales for the scare train! Same story for the Log Flume, the Little Dipper and the Tilt A Whirl. The Ferris Wheel with the spinning cars--Sky Diver--will be open as will their fantastic bumper cars. Sky Diver does not allow single riders, though. Be sure to stop in the cafeteria and get one of their bat shaped cookies! They are FANTASTIC! The pumpkin ones are actually vanilla cakes with orange icing, though! Kinda disappointing, but what can you do? Do they still make the best Pronto Pups? Always loved them thangs. I'll be able to ride Skydivers since my wife and I are going. Oh, I forgot to mention that I got married recently. I have not had a day off work since the day after my wedding. And, when I finally get a weekend off again, I'll be going to KI for HH. Be sure to stop by and get a slice of pizza from the nice lady by the carousel! And the Spider is running fantasticly, as is the Paratrooper (I still can't believe the space I get between the bar and me now!). Of all the scare events I have been to and go to, the Spooktacular is a must at Camden. It's just . . . right. And with the park's VERY strange hours these days, it's rare indeed to get to be there after 7:30, much less til eleven o'clock! Fridays and Saturdays in October! The park is closed Sundays (and was only open in September after Labor Day on Saturdays). I really wish the park would sell season passes before the season ends, but they don't. When I was in grade school at Chesapeake, we took a yearly trip to CP at the end of the school year. Of course, those days you paid $5.50-$6.00 to get in. The Interpreter Posted October 8, 2007 Author Share Posted October 8, 2007 Suddenly I feel very old! I remember when that park was famous for its dime admission, and its nickel pay toilets. When ride tickets were five cents each, and then later a dime. When pay-one-price was introduced and was three bucks. The old Laff-In-The-Dark before the current Haunted House. When the new Haunted House was put in (the last of its kind in America, now that Conneaut's Devil's Den aka Dr. Moriarty's Last Ride is closed), and was so popular you only got three rides on it with orange tickets when you bought what was otherwise a P-O-P. And of course I remember the Roller Rink, which burned down tragically some years back. The Skee Ball installation and old Pronto Pup stand attached to it. I remember fondly many of America's small parks. So many are going away. Get there while you can. You never know what may be the next Whalom, Americana, or even Geauga Lake. Sigh. KIBeast Posted October 8, 2007 Share Posted October 8, 2007 I will be getting there. Very soon. I think I'll go this Saturday night since I get paid this week. My Dad broke his arm at the roller rink there. Somehow, he fell and broke it. I used to go skating there all the time. Split time between there and Rollerama. I had heard that Camden's Haunted House was one of the only haunted attractions left that still use gravity to traverse the course. And, that it is nearly considered a coaster since it has a chain lift and all. Almost reminds you of a wild mouse coaster. It has hairpin turns and a good drop.
