CoastersRZ
http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/art...WS01/301180088/ This article is a very interesting read. Especially those who are interested in green design. LEED accredited buildings are becoming more and more popular these days with the rising energy costs. For those who are unfamiliar with LEED, it stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. The awards are accredited by the U.S. Green Building Council (I attended the USGBC`s annual convention, Greenbuild, this past November in Chicago). There are four rankings of LEED buildings; bronze, silver, gold and platinum. Several buildings on UC`s campus were built to LEED standards. Having worked at two architectural firms, more and more developers are requesting that their buildings be built to LEED standards. Not just from a marketing perspective, but from an energy savings (and in turn, cost savings) perspective. For more information on LEED and the USGBC, visit the USGBC site on LEED here.
